"When a restaurant is full of so-called locals, you know it must be pretty good. In Piccadilly, just off Haymarket, lives a small, simply decorated Dosa House- Woodlands. With a rich heritage in India dating back to the 1930's, Woodlands first opened in Maryleborne in the 80's and have expanded to Piccadilly and Hampstead since. Recommended by a food-loving friend for the dosas, I was keen to give it a try although if I'd walked past it on Panton St I might not have been tempted in. A slightly dated, shabby exterior leads to a simple wooden dining room with little atmosphere and no music. It was about half-full, however, of what I took to be people originally from South India, dressed...read more"

Lousy service. The quality of food has gone down... they need to improve a lot on their timing and not forget the orders placed by the customers. This is the second time this has happened to me. Really disappointed.

Truly the only reason we ate here is because it is right across from the theatre Service is mediocre at best and the food not far from it The dosa was nice but both rice and crispy badja were not good Wouldn't recommend it.

Stumbled onto this place by chance on a super crowded london evening. We were skeptical plus it was an all veggie place. It turned out to be so amazingly good. The chef added an extra Indian touch to our food and the dal makhani was outstanding.

I must say it was one of the best places for authentic vegetarian indian meals. WE ordered cholle and baigan bhartha curries with plain rotis and samosa chat for desserts The food was very well balanced in terms of spice and the aroma was amazing

friendly staff and fast service. tried literally every court that it offers. from the goat to the dosas to the tandoor, every court is commendable. the definite outstanding curry is the paneer tikka masala. just the best I've ever tried. the rasmalai is the perfect way to finish the meal.

worst experience. the personal argued to pay the service fee and claims that it was mandatory to pay. if the law makes it compulsory to pay the service fee? he literally argued and the service that is provided to us is the service of the third class, and then comes the owner and did the same and when I said why they argue, he claims I make the argument and literally he cried on me. worst service and staff i ever saw. would not recommend anyone to go to this worst place where they can not respect their customers.

have been a frequent visitor of the woodlands restaurant since its opening in marylebone lane. I always enjoy eating her and return completely satisfied. Sunday afternoon my wife and I went to the restaurant together with a family member at 1 o'clock. when we started ordering, we found that certain items were changed in portions and some items were not available. we have ordered medhu vada and chaat items for starter. because appam was not available, we ordered all dosas. the order was taken over by a pleasant young lady and brought to our table quite quickly. in the past, when we order idly, medien vada etc. there were always two of each part. but under the new policy...read more

I was meeting my friend Louise at the Harold Pinter Theatre to see a new production of Pinter’s play, The Birthday Party, which has just opened with a stellar cast including Toby Jones, Stephen Mangan and Zoe Wanamaker. We wanted to eat first but the question was – where? The theatre is in Panton Street which runs between Haymarket and Leicester Square; a bustling hub of central London. There are hundreds of restaurants, mostly chains, nearby; the challenge is to find something a bit different. We went into Yori, a Korean restaurant, right next door to the theatre first but it was full. So we crossed the road to Woodlands – directly opposite. Louise had been there before and...read more
