"We were a group of five ladies staying at one of the cottages on the estate. We ate outside at Ballihoo for lunch on a very sunny Saturday in October 2023. We had the sharing platter and a side of fries between us. Very tasty mix of breads, hummus, spicy sausage, olives, dipping oil etc. We all thought it was good quality and enough to act as a light lunch for us all. The waitress was particularly helpful and considerate sorting out a slight mixup with our drinks efficiently and without fuss. We then decided to pick up dinner from there that evening and have it as a takeaway. I spoke to Zahra to place our order and she was absolutely lovely and so helpful a real asset to the establishment. Again we all thought the food was wonderful. Two of our group had beef stew and dumplings beef was super tender, gravy was a rich reduction, dumplings were light and moist. Another group member had the plaice loved it! Another had the beef burger again highly rated. I had the cauliflower, walnut and chickpea burger with fries. Very, very tasty and an unusual vegetarian option that made a great change. Overall we were so impressed by the quality and taste. We had originally planned to get a takeaway curry from somewhere else but we’re very glad we didn’t because the food from Ballihoo really exceeded anything else we might have bought. Well done and thank you to all the team there!"

"Our first visit to the Tavern Inn we were impressed this is a friendly, comfortable pub. We were adults along with two small children, and two dogs, looking for a no-frills pub lunch this is exactly what we got. Friendly table...service, a simple, good menu including vegetarian childrens’ options, served within a very reasonable time generous portions. The pub garden included a childrens’ wooden fort slide, and overlooked a part of Kemble Airfield with it’s stock of planes including Jumbo Jets. Other than all the above, the two girls working hard behind the bar were brilliant welcoming, hospitable and very accommodating. They alone would deserve stars. We shall return!"

"I was part of a group of around 25 people who reserved a meal at this restaurant after a day out on the nearby Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway. All the tables were set up for our arrival, and the staff quickly took our drink orders. (The first beer I received was a bit off, but was replaced promptly without any issues). Our pre-ordered main courses were served as fast as the kitchen could prepare them, with a diverse selection meaning it took a bit of time (but it was better than rushed or poorly cooked). My choice was the homemade pie of the day (beef that day) with mashed vegetables (carrots, beans, and broccoli) and it was excellent, with a satisfying portion size. For dessert, I had the sherry fruit trifle, which was equally delicious. While it wasn't cheap, the price was fair for the quality of food, nice atmosphere, and attentive staff who worked hard with us and other customers. Would I return? Absolutely, especially for a similar outing with friends and coworkers."

"Great service, delicious food and nice atmosphere, given the time of our booking. We had a pre-theatre booking and staff ensured we were on time for the show. Our party will all look forward to returning when we have a little more time and can appreciate the full menu. One small observation, 2 of our party chose the burger as a main course, one of them would have appreciated being able to choose how it was cooked. Special mention goes to the Chicken Supreme, it was fabulous!"

"What better way to be introduced to UK hospitality. Trouble House was brilliant. Jackie, our host went out of her way to ensure our stay was perfect. It is a fabulous place to explore the beauty of the Cotswolds as well as experience some of the incredible history of the area. Regrettably, I was not feeling 100% so did not have an opportunity to experience the breakfast and dining options. My son however was certainly in the mood to appreciate the menu options that were available and could not fault the hospitality provided. Thank you so much Jackie for your outstanding consideration while I was not feeling 100%. The breakfasts were out of this world as was dinner (according to my son who was travelling with me). Cannot recommend Trouble House more highly and would without question return. Thanks again Jackie."

"there are many beautiful, picture book pretty places in the cotswalds, but for me, the fairest of them all must be the two swallower; above and below. connected by the flusuck and a mile long walk through several mudy sheep paddocks, it is impossible not to be taken from the clearness of the water, the divinity of the gardens and the tranquil surroundings. the only possible problem is to find somewhere to park their car, especially when they arrive at the midday. . a curious among estimated place (with plenty of parking,) at least when we arrived, the stately lower slaughter manor (picture top right.) the gardens are manicured and the front rasen is...read more"

"The restaurant formerly known as Hassan Balti has been revamped and is now called Hassan's Grill and Kitchen. The menu offers a unique variety of cuisines including Indian, Mexican, and a diverse selection of burgers. Despite the unusual combination, they have successfully pulled it off. I tried a burger while my partner opted for Indian cuisine, both of which were delicious. The service was excellent and attentive."

"We had been loyal customers of the Royal Oak under the previous management and were shocked when it closed down in September 2023. We are delighted that it is up and running again under new management, and it was absolutely thriving when we went and had a fabulous Sunday lunch last week. Food, drink, service, and atmosphere were all top notch. If there was one thing that could be improved, it would be to get rid of the piped music. It's annoying, unnecessary and unavoidable. I really hope the Royal Oak succeeds this time round. The problem is that the village of Leighterton is tiny and cut off, so the Royal Oak has to be a destination pub that people know about and want to visit. Local custom alone won't keep it going. Let's hope that enough people come."

"Off the tourist track so usually able to get a table. I live 90 miles or so away but as my hobby is riding motorcycles I often mosey on down to the Cotswolds and when I do, I always go to this cafe. The owner remembers me each time and remembers my drink and what I like to eat. Very friendly people, freshly prepared food nice quiet spot. Highly recommended Chris Rose"

"We have dined at this restaurant multiple times over the years hoping for improvement, but we will not be returning. I am baffled by the praise that Malt Anchor receives. The fish portions are small and the batter is average at best. Even when opting for a pricier loin option, the quality is still lacking and comes at a steep price. The chips are below par and the overall experience is disappointing. It seems that those leaving positive reviews may not have a strong understanding of what truly good fish and chips should be. I recommend trying establishments like Magpie in Yorkshire, Seafarers in Lytham, Squires in Devon, or many others I have tried over the years for a taste of proper fish and chips. Don't be swayed by the popular opinion, consider other options for a better dining experience."

"My wife and I had our evening meal at Quayle 26th November, the food was outstanding, highly recommend the crab starter, my wife had beef borguignon absolutely delicious. I had the steak cooked to perfection. Not only was the food incredible but the hospitality of the owner/family was most attentive and made it a very special experience. We will return and highly recommend a visit."

"The coffee shop is seriously overpriced for quality provided, though fine if you're willing to pay that much when you could get a better standard elsewhere. What really puts me off is that the staff are incredibly rude to the vast majority of their customers at both the coffee shop and the post office. It is not a pleasant atmosphere to bring children into or to be around."
"I have stayed in many hotels over the years, but this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. To get to our room, we had to walk around the back of the pub near the kitchen and step over a dirty kitchen water channel. The room was very small and lacked basic amenities like a bin. Despite these issues, we decided to eat at the pub downstairs (although we found the food to be overpriced for tiny portions). However, the problems escalated when we realized that the walls and floors did not block out noise well, and we could hear loud music from the pub all night. Even after the pub closed, the music continued to get louder. Around midnight, we asked the staff to lower the volume, only to find them having a party with loud music and joints. They briefly turned the music off, but it soon started again. In the middle of the night, water started pouring through the fire alarm directly onto our bed. It turned out to be dirty shower water from a staff room above. After complaining to a staff member (who appeared to be heavily intoxicated), we were moved to a spare room that was also dirty and covered in hair and dirt. We considered leaving, but decided to stay the night despite the discomfort. The next morning, we cancelled our reservation for the following night and requested a refund, which we received without any additional compensation. Overall, it was a terrible hotel experience that I will never forget."
"Best Sunday Roast around. We used to visit this pub before Covid as it did a superb Sunday lunch. Nicely cooked with plenty vegetables. Booked a few weeks ago, only to find it had changed hands. Having heard good reviews we went anyway and so glad we did. We didn't think this place could get any better, but it has. We revisited again today and it really is amazing. Great choice of food, beautifully cooked, amazing roast potatoes, and very well served by lovely staff. Reasonably priced too. We didn't think it could have got any better, but it has. Well worth a visit. Well done."

"These brownies are out of this world! I'm pretty sure they were baked on a celestial baking sheet with a sprinkle of stardust and a dash of magic. One bite and I was transported to a chocolatey paradise. I never knew brownies could make me feel so much joy. I'd sell my left arm for another bite. If you're looking for the best brownies in the universe, look no further. 10/10, would recommend to aliens"

"Fabulous meal at The Sultan. Service was great, very attentive. The food was outstanding I had a dish new to me a Pathila and it was delicious. The Tikka and onion bhaji starters were served at the table from a hot plate on a trolley which was a nice touch. The vegetable rice, naans and the curries chosen by the rest of us were also excellent. They use little hot plates (those ones with a tiny candle in) to keep food warm at your table which deserves extra mention as curry stays hot ready for you to have seconds! I would definitely recommend this restaurant."
