Perth and Kinross offers a taste of Scotland with dishes like haggis, neeps, and tatties, accompanied by fresh local produce and fine whiskies from nearby distilleries.

"We visited for lunch with no reservation, mid week. Staff were polite and helpful and food service was prompt. There are good meal choices (especially for vegan options, and children's). The food was enjoyable, pictured viva la vegan burger, margarita pizza and childrens mac n cheese w/corn and chips all from lunch menu. My only grip was that the disabled/baby change toilet could do with being cleaner, this could have been down to additional use due to the gents toilet being out of order."

"Sandemans fine dining tasting menu paired with some delicious wines was the perfect evening for us. The food was delicious and the wine worked well. The only disappointing thing was that there were almost no interesting options for our guest who does not drink alcohol. The only offering was a 0% lager or the usual other soft drinks. We wanted to order a fabulous mocktail or interesting non alcoholic pairing option from the menu. This was not possible here but our delightful waiter did accept the feedback and thought it would be a great idea to have something interesting for the non alcohol drinker or indeed the appointed driver. The restaurants decoration was lovely and the atmosphere special. The toilets could definately be upgraded they don't reflect the style or standard of the restaurant. Toilet seat hanging off in one of the two cubicles too. However, it was a very special evening which we all enjoyed and look forward to returning and experiencing the upgrades which will ensure things only get better from an already great position."

"Have been going to Tabla since 2011 and the owner, Praveen and the staff members are very warm and nice….the food is still good. However on my recent visit, 26/12/2023. I showed up with my lad at 5:15pm and asked if there was a set menu. The waiter gladly handed me the Festive Set Menu that had a fixed price deal for appetizer, starters and mains. I made my choices of the Festive Menu and my lad went for the regular A la Carte. Satisfied with the food and service by the waiter at the table, as we were in a bit of rush, we walked over to the counter to settle the Bill. To my surprise I noticed that the Bill did not correspond to the Festive Menu deal. When questioned the gentleman behind the counter (I suppose the duty manager) said the deal only applies between 4pm to 6pm. Granted that we walked in at 5:15pm and dined up to 6:30pm.But the fact that I was presented with the set menu and expected the price to correspond to the set menu and not being notified until the time of settling the bill did put me off. Besides the place was not busy and we were not holding up any would-be diners for the evening either. In any case I settled the Bill but was not impressed with Duty manager’s response."

"This is our go-to spot for lunch whenever we are in the vicinity of Perth. We stumbled upon it just after lockdown when strict protocols were in place, but today's visit was the complete opposite. The staff were friendly and welcoming, allowing us to choose our own seating. The food is exceptional, which is why we have made it a point to visit every time we are in Perth. I always order the Cullen Skink, followed by a Strawberry Sundae, while my wife loves the chips with skins on. The atmosphere is nice, with subdued music playing in the background, and the staff are accommodating and friendly. We will definitely be returning many more times. Kenny Clare."

"Very good fish and chips on Fri eve, around 6.30. Be sure to order your Friday special fish and chips in advance as they ran out shortly after we arrived as new arrivals we didn 't know so were lucky. Popular. Ate in, fresh, crispy, generous and good tartare sauce. Liked the absence of plastic. I 'm sure they would have many more customers if they stayed open a little longer as there were plenty folk around looking for somewhere and something tasty to eat."

"We checked the face book site before setting off which clearly stated the cafe was open. Hiked over 4 hours and when we got there it was closed. Very annoyed. It would be helpful if they could keep their on line pages up to date and make it clear when it is closed. There were several other people there who were let down as well. The car park was full and there were a lot of hikers too so losing a lot of business and letting a lot of people down."

"Afternoon tea needs worked on. For the type of hotel with the price they are charging there is a bit to improve. Firstly when 6 people book for afternoon tea they don't want 3 tables of 2. Also the food was then not served in sharing displays for 2 to share. We had on plate with sausage rolls and savoury muffins. Sausage meat was cheap and fatty. Cakes were ok. Meringues could have been better. Looked nicer than tasted. No printed menu of what the afternoon tea entailed. Did not feel like a treat. Also caught a male bar person chastising the female waitress at the bar which whether necessary or not should not have happened in front of guests to the hotel. Also charged full price when advertised online at cheaper. Bill was adjusted and apology given. No return visit planned."

"Ordered food which came 50mins late . Pakoras were plentiful and tasty but currys were awful . The Kashmiri korma was watery with 6 little bits of meat and 6 lumps of pineapple . The jalfrezi wasn’t tasty and was hotter than a vindaloo which I regularly order) with very little meat and most of it is in the bin . Hate leaving poor reviews but I’ve used this place before and was satisfied ."

"Not so good experience. My wife and I had the all day breakfast my son son had Mac cheese. Mac cheese was bland and was microwave the Mac cheese was served within 1 min of ordering. My mushroom were piping hot my wife’s were cold. (Microwaved) common theme going on in here everything is microwaved. The bacon was cooked within a inch of its life could not even cut through the bacon. My wife left her meal, I ate mine as I was starving after a 25 mile cycle I would have ate a scabby goat."

"The title of the review sums it up perfectly. There aren't many options in the local area, and according to my parents, this restaurant is the better choice - the other must be much worse. The prices here are about £3 higher per dish compared to our local spot in Nottingham, which was surprising. We ordered the crispy shredded chilli beef, but it turned out to be neither crispy nor appetizing, more like a sticky and congealed mess. The boiled rice was sticky and dense instead of fluffy, and the chips seemed to be cooked in old oil. The curried chicken dish tasted like something you would get from a chip shop. The only good thing were the prawn crackers. Unfortunately, they do not offer prawn toast or delivery services. Needless to say, we won't be returning to this restaurant. However, it must be noted that the server was very polite."

"Myself, my disabled wife and our grandson were staying at a nearby lodge, I had booked for the first evening but we ended up eating and drinking here each of the seven nights. Although it looks at first sight that there are several steps to enter they can be avoided by going up the adjacent lane and entering by the hotel reception. As others have said the food here is impeccable and the staff, led by Claire and assisted by Natasha are outstanding. We especially loved the tasting menu we had on the Thursday! There is a nice selection of malts, we tried most. I would not hesitate to recommend Achray House and on our next visit we intend to complete the experience and stay there."

"I've been here many times before but was even more impressed on this occasion. Arriving about I didn't realise they closed at but was nevertheless welcomed enthusiastically and asked to come in for coffee and cake. I settled for a delicious Americano and an even more delicious plain scone with butter, all very modestly priced. Even though I was intruding on their clean up time, and I think members of the family were having a meal, I was treated with the very best of courtesy and polite banter. I would urge everyone not to be an idiot like me, so check on the opening times first. I can guarantee a food and service experience worth repeating time and time again."

"We pre ordered through Just Eat for delivery at 7.30pm. The food arrived two hours late at 9.30pm after me phoning a few times to ask how long it'll be. I was told at 8.20pm it had left the kitchen and was out for delivery but when I asked the driver what time he'd left the kitchen with our food he said no later than 9pm lol so someone's lying. I wouldn't be surprised if it did leave at 8.20pm because all of the food was cold by the time it got to us. Neither the person I spoke to on the phone nor the delivery driver seemed bothered or apologetic for the awful service they'd provided. No explanation was given either as to why it was 2 hours late when we pre ordered for a certain time. Don't offer that service if you can't deliver! We weren't even sure they were going to turn up in the end as they stopped answering my calls and we actually put food in the oven just incase only for the driver to turn up 5 minutes later. Would not order from here again. From 6 hungry, unimpressed customers"

"The menu looks good on paper, but in reality it has a way to go. I opted for the 5 bean vegan chilli with rice and tortilla chips and a black americano coffee. Coffee was OK but incredibly strong so had to ask fora jug of hot water. Veg chilli came very quickly but alas the chilli part was barely warm so I asked for it to be properly heated. When it came back it was still not really hot enough, but the rice was scalding and tortilla chips were rather darker at the edges than they had been. So the whole plate had been in the microwave; plate and rice pretty hot, chilli not! However i decided to risk it...and whilst it was clearly homemade and the flavour wasn 't bad...it was almost completely devoid of beans never mind the 5 varieties (I assume! that were being offered. I counted 7 chickpeas in the whole thing and so I did actually mention it to the waitress, who couldn 't quite believe it and said she 'd ask in the kitchen. However I was actually laughing (she wasn 't as i told her that this was quite funny as it has happened to me before in a different cafe that the 5 bean chili had literally 5 beans in it and so now it 's a family joke. Anyway, on paying the bill a different person asked if it had all been ok so I told her that I 'd mentioned the non- bean situation to my waitress, and so this new person did actually take a couple of quid off my bill, which i thanked her for. (the Mars Bar crispy cake was fine!"

"This venue is literally like entering a time warp. The architecture and design is like stepping back to the early 1970's and modernisation has been avoided over the years. The loos were spotlessly clean and door knobs reflect Caithness Glass output from yesteryear. All the staff were very helpful, positive and trying hard to accommodate foreign tourists with their lunch requirements. Sandwiches were freshly prepared and well filled. Steak Pie appears very popular and this venue attracts mainly passing tourists. Saw little evidence of indigenous Scots eating lunch. We enjoyed our lunch and free car parking in a large car park outside was a big draw over the town centre. Management was active and we will return. Coffee is also recommended."

"faster, efficient service. seventeen minutes from the order to arrive at food. would have liked to have arrived our drinks before the meal, but it seemed just a server so they were amazingly good. my half-huh and chips were fabulous. steak not so good and burger seemed a little small, but that was probably what was ordered."

"I went to dinner with my parents at this restaurant. The menu was not very diverse. My parents ordered haddock and chips. The chips were decent, but one plate had a much larger piece of haddock than the other, which was disappointing. The fish was mostly batter, making it seem larger than it actually was, despite the discrepancy in sizes. The fish was okay in taste, but nothing exceptional. My dad had to share his haddock with my mom since her piece was so small. As for my burger, it was a definite disappointment. The burger was small, dry, and overcooked. The bun was tough and chewy. There were too many toppings in the bun, including a slice of beef tomato, fried mozzarella, and salad, making it difficult to finish. I will not be returning to this restaurant in the future."
