"We rarely review eateries, however felt compelled to share our recent experience at this bar/restaurant. Initial impression was good. When we arrived the representative was warm and friendly, showing us to our table. We had a drink while waiting for our friends, during which one member of staff was having a horrific coughing fit, obviously suffering some sort of infection. Another girl at the bar was also coughing loudly. We were then handed ‘menus’ by the same girl who had been coughing uncontrollably. All of the menus were crumpled and filthy/stained. This wasn’t a great start to the evening, given that there are obviously no standards of hygiene being adhered to. Surely the way forward would be to print off a new menu for each customer? That gives the right impression. Even pre-COVID, I would expect a laminated menu that could be wiped down before handing to each customer or a new A4 printed menu for every customer. No one could complain about this and it would cost next to nothing. When the food was dished up, I was told that my chicken had been dropped on the floor and would be a little late. A few minutes later my dish appeared, looking a bit messy and like it had been thrown into the bowl hurriedly. The chicken was tough and vegetables tasteless. Given the disgusting menus, I was worried the whole time that chicken had been scraped off the floor and then presented to me. Needless to say, I didn’t enjoy the meal. Both my partner and I felt rough on the way home and had a dodgy stomach the following day. Surely, if staff are unwell and have a bad cough they should either stay at home or wear a mask to protect others? This is the guidance, but no one seemed to care that the staff were standing at the tables, coughing over the customers and it was very uncomfortable! We were looking forward to our evening, but it seems that a few young members of staff were allowed to do their own thing and no one person seemed to oversee the running of the bar/restaurant. If visiting this establishment, remember to bring your own sanitiser! We won’t be back."

Really nice restaurant that we all thoroughly enjoyed, food was delicious and well presented by first class staff. The menu had some ‘bar food’ type dishes but they were lovely, fresh and delicious.

Family night out at the Kirkland’s Hotel on Sunday evening. We had the delicious festive menu. The food was lovely (and hot)! At £26 for 2 courses and £32 for 3 courses it was very reasonable. The staff were lovely and service was very quick and efficient. Would recommend for a lovely festive dinner out View menu

Went here for a meal with friends. Good gluten-free options. Staff very helpful and polite. Good service. Food very good, gluten free and ordinary. We have been here a few times and never been disappointed. There have been comments about the paper menu, but we were fine with this. Would recommend Service: 5 Location: 5

Went for a girls meal with my 8 year old, she was delighted with the kids options and beyond excited to have a unicorn lemonade. I had a non alcoholic orange gin which was gorgeous. I had siracha cauliflower and beef rib nuggets with salt and pepper fries and everything was incredibly tasty. Really lovely food, exciting drinks, and a very comfortable place to bring your child. Staff were lovely

Started off great lovely guy came to the table then it went downhill the 2 females looked miserable we felt they had an attitude the starters were fine but our mains were burnt children’s choice was poor then they add 10% on the bill service charge they need to up their game on service my son in law paid the service charge personally I wouldn’t I prefer to leave a tip to the person who deserves one. Won’t return. There are better places in Kinross. View menu

We're staying in Kinross for a few days and the Kirkland's was recommended by our hosts. The food was fantastic! I had the steamed mussels which were in a beautiful creamy sauce and served with skinny fries. My partner had the Denver steak which he said was perfectly cooked and delicious. Very accommodating of our little girl who was getting tired (we'd been travelling for several hours and it was getting close to bedtime) and was making quite a lot of noise. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely visit again!

Lovely warm atmosphere, staff were friendly and attentive. We had a little wait for our table as we were earlier but offered plenty of drinks and menu to look at. Food was excellent came out hot, beautifully presented and tasted incredible. Puddings were absolutely delicious but maybe a little overpriced for portion size. Highly recommend the donut holes for pudding they were phenomenal! My only tiny complaint is that our table was directly next to the coffee machine and a whole party table ordered coffees, so we had to sit in silence for a good 5 10 minutes while they were preparing the drinks. Apart from this lovely meal and would definitely go back.

"We stumbled across this place on the last night of a fortnight in Scotland and couldn 't be more glad that we did and that they had space. We were seated promptly (underneath the fan thankfully considering the heatwave), asked whether we 'd eaten there before (we hadn 't), had the menu explained to us (suggested 3 tapas per person) and then left alone briefly to consider the menu. Once ordered, drinks were delivered in a timely fashion, followed by breads dips to tempt tide us over until our tapas arrived. It wasn 't very quick, but I didn 't think it was unduly long either just the right length of time for non fast food that is being prepared freshly. And when it arrived, we were delighted as it was delicious! The only slight disappointment was that salted cod wasn 't available, but that was soon forgotten. My personal favourite was the poached chorizo in red wine with honey glaze, but we were happy with all of our options (patatas bravas, haggis balls, pinchas de pollo, spinach chickpea stew, haddock in red pepper sauce and Spanish tortilla the latter really made by the spicy tomato salsa on the side). 5 between the two of us would probably have sufficed, which would have meant I had space for one of the ice creams, but in hindsight, I 'm glad I didn 't. Excellent service, delicious food, our best meal of our holiday. We probably won 't be back (living in Birmingham and all) but definitely would if we were local."
