"It was the best of meals, The second, not so much. On the Wednesday evening we explained that we needed one gluten free meal. We were immediately handed over to a charming lady, who we took to be the proprietor. She assured us that she would confer with the chef. We ordered a “coquelet roti” with a cream and grape sauce and a fillet steak served without sauces. Chips were covered in gluten but the chef proposed a salad for the steak and the “coquelet” came with a Gratin Dauphinoise. All the food was delicious. The chicken was soft and sweet the sauce had a depth of flavour aided and abeted by the small bursts of sweet grape juice from the grapes within it. The steak was perfect; maximum of flavour from the seared outside, maximum of soft juiciness from the tender pink interior. Dessert was a fruit crumble that had not had the crumble added, pronounced delicious, and a crème broulee. The crème was not a traditional baked vanilla egg custard. It tasted like a flour based preparation and was devoid of vanilla. All in all, the service had been attentive and the food mostly great. We determined that we would return for a second meal and looked forward to it.Mistake! Sunday evening, the waitress remembered us, and promised to check for gluten free food. She checked the Champaign sauce that was served with the Salmon. We could not have it. She was not aware that the rice, the dauphinoise and the chips all contained gluten. She suggested salad. We said that would be fine. The Dorade Royale, one of my favourite fish was sold out but they could offer Sea Bass. O.K., that would do. The salad delivered with the dry salmon was a simple bag mix of leaves, not the fresh mixed salad it had been four days before. It had brown stalks and tasted stale. The fish was undoubtedly the worst cooked fish I have ever been served. It had clearly been laid on a metal tray and placed under an electric grill. It had not been turned or moved until it was served. Consequently, the top skin was like leather. It defied my efforts with the serrated knife provided to cut through it. I had to prize it off to get to the very dry fish beneath. A simple glaze of oil would have ensured that the skin became crispy and a delicious part of the fish. It would also have ensured that the (Chef?) remembered to turn the fish under the grill. When I turned the fish on the plate, the lower side skin was a soggy mess where all the juices had soaked it through. Scraping it off, the second fillet was edible, despite the attentions of the chef. We told the waitress what was wrong with our food. She said she would tell the chef. We don’t know if she did. We did not see him."

"Being a commissioner we were looking for a holy maxim for 5. Of course at this time, we have been denied many to this one. Falling a little by chance, we were subjugated by the decor. We were in the mood, racing car hoods on the walls, introductions from everywhere, maids as a tray for the covers, this was a happiness for the eyes. As for food, it was delicious and very reasonable at the price level. Well presented, well served, say more, go on!"

"Not worth wasting too many of my words but just visited this restaurant and for the first time in over 20 years coming to Sainte Maxime I have never encountered such treatment of a child.My 2 year old son was enjoying playing with the menu (simply opening and closing it) while waiting for his food.The waitress came over with a magazine to try and distract him but we explained he prefers the menu.Then the rude and grumpy chef demanded the waitres take the menu away. She came over and practically wrestled it away from my son causing him to be upset explaining he could break it.Total rubbish"

"Quelle surprise !!! Sur saint Maxime depuis 4 jours, je ne vois que des restos moyen qui vous alpaguent avec ses tomates mozza, salade de chèvre chaud et autres viande en sauces quelconque. Nous voilà parti en famille, après une matinée plage, de manger ce midi un bout, et par hasard nous tombont sur la maison bleue, terrasse parfaite, accueil chaleureux, et menu du jour alléchant.Fritto mixto en entrée suivit d'un duo de poissons, pour les enfants pâtes maison, je sais pas si ce sont les patrons ou leurs employés mais le service est au top, on rigole, ils ont se côté familier mais pas gênant, on nous conseille sur le vin, les enfants sont servis très vite etc... Un très bon moment, un déjeuner goûteux, un personnel au top, ça fait longtemps que j'avais plus vu cela sur la côte et au mois d'août, À RECOMMANDER !!!"

"Quelle belle surprise que la découverte du Boho ! Vraiment une cuisine fine et goûteuse, proposant des associations imaginatives et des présentations soignées. Les saveurs et les couleurs du sud dans l assiette quoi de mieux pour débuter ses vacances ! La carte des vins est très diversifiée avec des gammes de vins réputés. Le cadre est cosy et 3 choix sont possibles intérieur, terrasse ou placette. Le personnel est accueillant , efficace et très professionnel donc contribue à la réussite de ce moment savoureux Bravo !"

"Stumbled across this hidden gem without a reservation and decided to dine here as we we wanted to try something 'different' and Moroccan it was! I had the best food ever... tajine-cooked in a hot plate with divine herbs and spices. My partners couscous was perfect! Both of us walked out feeling happy, well fed and with a very authentic and pleasant experience. Vegetables, sides and other dishes made the experience the best ever. Staff were all very friendly, polite and courteous. Food definitely made with LOVE. I cannot recommend it enough!!!"

"the first impression is good. a nice beach restaurant with airy furnishings and beautiful views.Since we had not reserved, we were asked to wait half an hour.When this half an hour was over, nothing changed at the location and we were guided to our place.The beverage order was not properly accepted and we received other drinks or drinks that we had not ordered. The burger was rather an interpretation of a burger-like court and really did not taste.The salat in the burger would have been generous with an salat leaf and at the tomate it did not look better. the broth was soaked with an undefined sauce. the price of this burger is at 17€.ABER the worst were the nuddies with MEERESFREIGHTS!!!The noodles were extremely boiled.The sauce had no taste and the muscheln were also not particularly good.You did not have these spaghetti eating!!!A break at the noodle!!!(price of noodles: 19€)The service was super, the services were nice. Not a second time for me anyway."

"I wish I had found Chez Longu earlier during my stay in Sainte Maxime. It's the kind of no-nonsense restaurant where professionals actually spend time making you feel at home. Food and service are excellent and it's not too expensive. When we were there, the place was packed and it took a while before our food was ready. The owner stopped by our table to apologize, then later stopped by again to ask whether we liked it (we sure did and I told him!). There's often a line of people waiting to get a spot, so a reservation can come in handy."

"positive point: the place is beautiful both the beach the bar and the restaurant. reception for the rental of the bridges is well managed by the beach boys who are helpful and available, thanks to the staff of the bar is also available, thanking the restaurant, apart from the prices that are now exorbitant, the big problem is the quality of the dishes. the catering service is also poor, no follow-up to the tables. flat to share cold and racorni, dehydrated. main dish bathing in a stained and cold sauce, fries warm a horror. competition is not lacking in the area, we will try elsewhere to harm this place that remains magnificent and we regret not being able to go."

"My wife and I are on a 2 week trip around France, and by chance started chatting with an English ex-pat whilst in Menton, (near the Italian border). When he heard that our next stopover would be in Sainte-Maxime he recommended Restaurant Fred.So, on a strangers word we arrived and had a look for ourselves ! It's set back about 3 streets away from the Port area.The welcome from Owner Fred and other staff (parents?) was amongst the friendliest we've experienced during the whole trip. He was very helpful in patiently taking us through the (French) menu.We chose from the €25 menu / 3 courses, and everything was really fresh, well presented and very tasty.The drinks are reasonably priced, and the whole dining experience was excellent.So what started as a recommendation to us, is one that we're definitely happy to pass on to others."

"Firstly I don't post to Trip Advisor often but felt I have to, to save others from having the same experience as us last night! My wife, daughter and I booked a table for dinner based upon the good Trip Advisor position in comparison with other excellent places we have eaten at in Ste Maxime, sadly we wished we hadn't having wasted good money on average food! We opted for Menu 39 Euro which has a reasonable selection of dishes. Entrees arrived quickly from ordering and my octopus salad was not too bad but lacked any real flavour, the wife was really disappointed with her avocado and shrimp salad, which consisted of a sliced avocado and a selection of the smallest shrimps you can get, a pot of Marie Rose sauce on the side and some wilted lettuce leaves to dress it up a little. In terms of main meals I ordered the grilled daurade and the wife had the lamb with thyme. We were offered the choice of chips, ratatouille or rice I think was the third option, we ordered chips and ratatouille! When the mains arrived the waitress provided a poor attempt at dressing the fish for me which ended with her using her finger to remove a piece from my plate! The fish was ok, no real flavour even with the pot of dressing it came with. The wife's lamb was a chop with a blob of buttered thyme on top. Our daughters steak hache even looked unappetising not having been flattened into a proper shaped burger and she ended up leaving most of it unfortunately. The chips were awful, not even French fries, they were dry and slightly over cooked quite clearly frozen ones! My wife felt the ratatouille was most likely from frozen too. In terms of dessert we ordered chocolate mousse for my daughter who despite being a chocoholic took one mouthful and left it as it was heavy and stodgy totally the opposite of a good mousse, the wife and I ordered creme caramel which were more like the flans you buy in the supermarkets here than what you would expect of a restaurant one. In all not a great dining experience really. The wife also said her chair was uncomfortable and constantly wobbled I was sat with my back to where menus etc were stored and had to be careful not to bang my head on it the only saving grace was the wine, both the house rose and red half bottles were very nice. Be aware though it's over 7 euros for a bottle of sparkling water, which I think is a little over the top. Total bill for three was just over 140 Euro! If it's nice food you want over the hustle of the sea front then take a few more steps to the streets behind and eat at either La bicyclette, restaurant Fred or La Derive all offer much better food! Enjoy Ste Maxime we love it there!"

"A recent review of Mamma Mia suggested the food and service is poor. Nonsense. Mamma Mia is a typical, good, Italian restaurant with the typical Italian welcome and service. The food is excellent, especially the pizzas. I have always popped in when in St Maxime. My favourite is Pizza Napoli. The grilled mussels are great too. Wash down with draft Peroni or choose from the OK wine list. Your wallet won't suffer much damage. Why won't I return? I visited on a Tuesday. There was plenty of room. BUT, I am a widower and travel alone. I was stuck at the worst table by the loo (after the waitress consulted with the manager)! Everyone going for a pee passed close by. Silly really. I visit in spring and autumn as well as summer, so am good trade. That's not the point though. Its bad enough being alone without getting stuck by the loo when dining out!"

"we wanted to eat something and my partner sat on the table and I went on the toilet. I was pulled out of the clo and extremely unfriendly asked if I was hospitable. that I hunted around the others waiter and personal have been taken out loudly. the toilet floor was not allowed to me. I then left the curly and asked my partner to stand up again. then you wanted to steer and I was allowed to toilet. I'm all appetit and joyful. a local I would never enter again."

"Cote Jardin atmosphere is lovely (outside courtyard with artwork and statues - v. romantic), as is the waitor and the chef. Very friendly and welcoming. Our first course was great but we were both a little let down by the main (BBQ lamb / BBQ tuna). Overcooked and small portion. Unfortunately I was also sick the day after. Cannot say for definite it was becuase of something I ate there though. I think they could up the prices (it's pretty cheap here) and offer large portions of fish/meat. What was really excellent was the wine advice! They have a selection of wines, and the waitor could give detailed advice. They even let us buy a bottle to take home with us as it was getting pretty late by the time we finished."

"We discovered this restaurant last year during our summer vacation. While many tourist restaurants offer fried mussels not top, small and without flavor, the Montana offers an original concept: fried mussels to all sauces, of good calibre, tasty and at will! we tested 3 different original sauces, we recommend the Montana (sauce with condiments,) the chorizo and the roquefort!!! a real treat, with an excellent value for money! the Montana has reconciled us with the fried mussel restaurants on holiday ! don't miss out on ! the staff is very pleasant what contributes to the good evening that we spend there:) attention however to go there before 7 pm to have room outside!"

The staff is very welcoming, helpful and professional. The dishes are fresh and cooked with quality ingredients! Probably one of the best restaurants in Sainte-Maxime. I recommend 100%, you can go the eyes closed!"

"Trovandoci all'estero, evitiamo per principio pizzerie e ristoranti italiani. Stavolta la voglia di pizza ha avuto il sopravvento e siamo entrati in questa "officina della pizza", aperta da poco più di un anno.Stiamo parlando di un locale molto piccolo, praticamente un "take away" che si affaccia direttamente sulla passeggiata fronte mare, con qualche tavolino e pochi sgabelli alti, più adatti a bere un drink che a starci seduti per più di mezz'ora...Accoglienza cordiale, riescono a sistemare anche il nostro cane (un Golden Retriever piuttosto ingombrante) e una delle ragazze al banco ci spiega la lista in un discreto italiano. Ad ogni buon conto, agganciamo anche il gestore/chef, italiano trapiantato da 30 anni, proprietario di una gelateria affermatissima e di un altro ristorante "pieds dans l'eau" sempre a Sainte Maxime e a lui ci raccomandiamo...Conclusione: il trancio regge bene il confronto con quelli di buon livello che si possono trovare a Milano, la Margherita si presenta con un buon impasto, per niente gommoso ancorché meritevole di una mozzarella di miglior qualità. Valida la birra locale, che risulta prodotta a pochi chilometri.Nel complesso, esperimento riuscito bene con un investimento accettabile (26 € in due). La prossima volta ci spingeremo ad assaggiare una delle paste proposte dal menu e/o bis della pizza!"

"We booked the table for 3 people at 9:30. arrived on site we are told to wait . 8 people arrive without reserve have the installs and we are always waiting . We made them notice that we are the .the servers are telling the boss about our discontent but nothing to do. We're taking a bottle of wine in the meantime. 10 a.m. a table that liberates. ouf. once we sit down we order. we are served at 11 am. I took the 1/2 lobster on the map. A big shrimp would have done the business. 21 euros anyway. The boss always has nothing to make remarks. not even a small gesture .café 2.50 euros on the note .grande disappointment finished results to be taken for fools . many things to see especially the boss who does not accept any remarks. We wouldn't go back home. It's on..."
