A simple and nutritious classic: perfectly boiled egg, tender and satisfying with a creamy yolk center.

"we have lined the ramparts market as it was very crowded and continued our walk around the corner and up, as we were on the road for st giles, when maison bleue caught our eye advertisement a two-course lunch for £14.50, which seemed to be good for the elegant place it was. in fact we found ourselves in a palast of glass and napery- strangely the only diner around 1 o'clock on a working Wednesday. there were many tourists that the windows with silver foil packages from the hog roast a few doors away, but no use the beautiful indoor and delicious foods. the waiter was friendly and brought us ice water, broth and an excellent tasteful olive oil dive. we chose a suppe and a Haggis balls (battered and deep fried and served with a neeps and Tatties sauce), then went on a han tagine and a pan-fried meeres bass. a glass of red wine and a coffee completed our meal and the bill was under £50 exceptional. the toilets are a bit of a walk to the top of the building, but this is not a big problem."

"While the location of the restaurant may not be ideal, the atmosphere inside is pleasant. Unfortunately, the food did not live up to expectations. I started with the ham salad, which came with rocket, Hollandaise sauce, ham hock, and a boiled egg. The ham was warm, but the egg was cold and seemed to have been pre-cooked and stored in the fridge. For the price of £8, I would have preferred a freshly cooked egg with a soft yolk to complement the ham. For my main course, I ordered the T-bone steak, which surprisingly came with an extra charge for chips. The meat itself was not worth the £28 price tag as it was a thin cut served lukewarm with a cold knob of herb butter that did not melt properly. The steak lacked flavor and I have had more appetizing meals at a lower cost in other establishments. Overall, I was disappointed with the quality and value for money at this restaurant."

"A group of unfriendly women "greeted" my daughter and me with sour faces. It seemed like no one knew their role, leading to a chaotic and unpleasant interaction. At one point, the card machine was shoved in my face when all I wanted was an orange juice. The final straw was when my 4-year-old was treated rudely. A server came over, snatched a napkin from our table, and made a disparaging remark about my daughter. It was simply rude and showed a complete lack of understanding of how to interact with customers, especially children. I will not be returning to this place. I might consider grabbing a coffee to go, but the service is the heart of any business, and today we saw a prime example of how it can go wrong. Disappointing."

"My wife, my baby son and I met up with one of her friends and her baby daughter. This first and last experience wasn't very good to be honest. Firstly, cash only, and the nearest ATM is a long sprint up the main street, so that didn't give a good first impression. Secondly, we looked at the menu once finally seated, and there was a £5 charge for any food waste on the plate. I think the reason they take the plates away while you're still eating is because they can justify charging you that £5. Thirdly, the food was...okay at best. We've had better food for a much lesser price, and I am sure the shrimp was undercooked/raw. Lastly, the staff were quite abrupt and not very nice. We received a few dirty looks because the babies were understandably making some noise. Can honestly say we wont be back. It's a shame since we've heard so many good things about it in the past."

"First visit to this bar as I'd heard really good reviews, but service was poor. Table who came in after us were served before us. Menu varied, and they offer small portions as well as full sized portions. I chose salmon salad....salad was nothing special and not too well presented. Leaves out of a bag with a boiled egg, a few tomatoes, some sliced cucumber and a small tub of coleslaw and tasteless potato salad. Friend chose small chicken pad Thai, which tasted delicious. Veg was extra with this dish."

"This is a picture-postcard pub, slightly out of the town centre. A pretty small interior, partitioned into different areas, creates a very cosy environment. Although it should probably be classified as a gastropub, it caters for casual drinkers and regulars, which is a real positive. Also you can get quality small food (albeit at Hampstead prices!!! at the bar, which I also love. Drink prices are high, even by Hampstead standards, which would make me rate it 4.5 stars, if that was an option. Lovely, professional staff, and the care for regulars, however, makes it deserving of 5 stars in my opinion."

"We came for a weekend away and wanted to come back to The Ship where we visited 18 months ago and had such a great meal and stayed for hours, unfortunately we were hugely disappointed this time. The staff were knowledgeable on my allergies and were great but the size portion of the platter we ordered was enough for one person not two and we were glad we ordered chips too. The platter was considerably more in price and considerably less in portion size it was a huge disappointment. We know times have changed and prices have gone up but that is extortion for the amount of food we received. Last time we stayed until closing and spent hundreds on food and drink, this time we spent £65 and went back to our B B the other side of town. The atmosphere was terrible. The drinks were also a huge disappointment. Last time we came there was a mini cocktail list which was great this time it's like it's been turned into a Gin Bar Not everyone likes Gin, the cider was off the menu as no one knew how to change the barrel! When I asked for a Old fashioned they had no clue. The last time we came Lockdown had ended and the place was buzzing this time on a Friday night it had about 10 families in including the locals and this says a thousand words. You are in holiday location you need to bring in more holiday goers again. There are many more I could comment on but I think this is enough for now. We won't be returning Food drinks: Disappointing quality and quantity for the price Service: 4 Location: 4"

"My wife and I picked up two family friends, one 90 years old and the other 86, and drove to the Bushel and Strike for lunch today. However, upon our arrival, we found a sign on the door stating it was closed until further notice. After knocking on the door, we were informed that the restaurant was moving out. This lunch had been booked over the phone weeks in advance, so I was very disappointed that we were not contacted about the closure. I was extremely upset and felt that there was no regard for our reservation. This experience was a letdown and I will not be returning. - Neil Schooling. P.S. NEVER AGAIN."

"Read a few very positive instagram posts about Lagu and I have a very high expectation and look forward the visit, indeed, Lagu didn't disappoint me, I ordered the teriyaki karaage don, the deep-fried chicken (Japanese karaage) mixed with teriyaki sauce and with Japanese mayo on top. For me it's a bit salty as they have marinated the chicken so well, with extra teriyaki sauce made it a bit over-seasoned, don't get me wrong, I loved it My husband ordered the chicken combo curry, which has chicken karaage and Japanese curry, with soft boiled egg on top, my husband also very satisfied with his choice, I tried the original chicken karaage and it was very tasty, it was the best karaage I have tried in London They served the multigrain rice which got the extra marks I am Asian and travelled to Japan for many times, it's really authentic and delicious."

"typical look of an london pubs but still has its own character. the interieur is a classic art deco with so much love for detail in the themes from furniture to floor coverings and light fittings and wall art - it really feels like a step back in time - at the same time facilitated a warm welcoming comfort service was friendly and efficient. eating was simple, hearty, delicious and fresh with generous portions the burgerpatty was thick, tender and juicy cooked with very fresh meat medium. the chips were crispy on the outside slightly soft on the inside only perfect and very addictive! the sausage and maic was also one of the best kind of a home cooked meal sausages were delicate...more"

"There may be campsites in Britain with a better view than this one, but I am not aware of them. The location is wonderful, offering a fabulous view. The facilities for those in vans and tents are good, and the campsite/cafe team is very friendly and welcoming. Although we did not eat meals at the cafe, it was fully booked during our stay, which is a great sign. However, we did purchase cakes on a couple of occasions, and they were absolutely delightful. The campsite is great for local walks, and for those interested in local history, be sure to learn about Johnnie Notions and visit his grave. Overall, the view is jaw-dropping and the cakes are lovely. This campsite has everything you need."

"Very unpleasant experience. Rude staff. My husband and I went there for a brunch before travel. It was supposed to be our only meal for many hours so we wanted to eat well. I asked for a toast, my husband asked for a salad and a small curry with bread and we also shared some slices of bread with hummus. When we started asking for the food the waiter started laughing at us, saying that it was too much food for just the two of us. My husband explained that we were going to travel and not eat for a while (not like he had to explain anything). We thought that maybe the waiter said that because the portions were big, but when it came it was normal to small, so it really didn't make any sense that judging. Even if we were really eating a lot, which was not the case, nobody should treat somebody like that. Every time the waiter came to our table he started laughing at us, saying that that was food for four people. They prefer people to sit there all day drinking the same cup of coffee then giving them money for that expensive ordinary food."

"We were just wandering around Betwys and wanted somewhere to stop for a cup of tea etc and didn't want a fast food or posh type, full meal restuarant. This cafe is right at the end of the road, away from the main row of restuarants and wouldn't normally be an obvious choice. There are a couple of tables outside but a lot more at the side and back. There is not a great choice of food but lots of snacks and cakes and the sausage rolls were very good. The service was good and it was a comfortable place to sit and eat rather than the crowded, overpriced fast food places or the up themselves, overrated yuppy type establishments along the main row of eateries. I would certainly recommend this as a cup of tea and sausage roll type of cafe, reasonable prices and good, friendly service."

"First visit will definitely be back. A gorgeous pub with a really genuine, warm, authentic feel (including a proper roaring fire . The food stole the show though. Our group had a burger, Thai beef curry and steak ale pie. They were all fantastic, with generous portions and very reasonable prices. There are signs telling you to order at the bar, but we didn’t get chance, as the superb front of house team beat us to it. I’ve had worse service in much more expensive places! Can’t wait to come back."

"This looks like a cake shop but there are 4 or 5 tables by the counter and I believe more upstairs. People come in and out for cake, coffee, lunch sandwiches but there is also a hot menu and the food we chose was excellent....Staff are very attentive and professional and service was quick but the food was obviously freshly cooked (the chips are amazing). Prices are very reasonable. Park in public car park across the road. I would happily visit again."

"This is not a restaurant or cafe, but a take-away shop and bakery, open during the day. I buy lunch from here regularly. They serve good hot and cold sandwiches (I like the hummus and med veg), really excellent fresh soup and lovely, unusual boxed salads (I like the Italian bean and tuna one). The bread and cakes are also good. Staff are friendly and there is usually a queue because it's popular. My only complaint about this placec is that it needs to open as a cafe too!"

"Since it opened, Sycamore has become one of my favourite go-to brunch and lunch spots in the Bucks area. The decor is top notch, the staff is friendly and competent, and the coffee is aces. I will drive all the way to Amersham *just* to drink their matcha latte (with coconut milk), it is so good! If you’re looking for something healthy, go with the black daal bowl or the sweet potato/beets/broccoli hummus mix. If comfort food is what you’re after, then the fried chicken burger will rock your world. And, if you’re looking for something down then middle, then the avo and eggs toast with bacon (or sub in halloumi) will fit the bill! Fancy a coffee and cake, then the pear and almond cake will change your life! Thank you to the staff and owners of Sycamore for bringing out such a gem on the restaurant market!"

"Seto is a small family run Japanese restaurant in Camden Town. It is a rare place in London where you can have a bowl of rustic and homely ramen similar to the ones you will find at diners (worker 's cafe equivalent) in Japan. We had shoyu ramen and vegetarian ramen. All ramen noodles are £9 during lunch hours (including the one with extra pork chashu), but a boiled egg will cost extra £1. We asked for our noodles to be cooked harder. The noodle had nice chew and nostalgic 'old school ' and comforting ramen noodle flavour. The vegetables on top of my veg ramen were fresh and cooked perfectly, finished in thick starchy sauce which gave a unique creamy texture to my soup which I liked. The only problem with my soup was that although it started off hearty and tasty, it begun to taste more and more like a packet soup towards the end, which by the way was not the case with my partner 's non-veg soup. As for the soy based pork chashu ramen, the chashu was tasty and the egg was cooked and marinated perfectly keeping the yolk creamy and golden. The building is old and the décor is far from modern or fancy, but the standard of cleanliness was high throughout the restaurant from the sauce pots on our table to the toilet. Service was on point, attentive and polite. 10% service charge will be added to your bill. £9 for a bowl of ramen in London is good. But as far as the vegetarian ramen is concerned, the overall value is not much better than some other places where you can have a veg ramen with an egg and tofu for £12. All in all, Seto is an unassuming little hidden gem where you can experience the comforting flavour of ramen from down town Tokyo, or if you like, a staff canteen nationwide Japan."
