"Arranging the team Christmas Dinner is often an affair fraught with danger. A group of people you 've known for over 15 years who have developed their own personal tastes, likes and dislikes. Whilst a Dominos and a half dozen cases of Blue WKD would have previously passed muster we have somewhat matured and as such our Christmas nights out have been getting progressively fancier over the last 5 years. With a mixed group of tastes varying from the adventurous to the not so, and knowing that it 's just around the corner from my flat, I booked a table at the McMillan. First things first, it was amazing value at £26 for 3 courses. As anyone who 's visited the McMillan will know you often do well to get a main alone for that price when you 're pushing the boat out. It was busy but the atmosphere was just right for Christmas without feeling suffocating. Whilst the pianist is an oft underrated part of any restaurant ambience. Each course had four choices to pick from. For my starter I had a confit duck salad which was wonderfully lifted with some pickled vegetables. I also tried my friends grilled polenta with brie and house salsa which was also very tasty. For main I shunned the traditional turkey dinner (having already eaten 3 by that point of the week! in favour of braised beef shin with mashed potato, picked carrots and bone marrow bread pudding. That 's right BONE. MARROW. BREAD. PUDDING. It was, and my apologies for the slight profanity here, the dugs baws! I now demand I have this as an accompaniment with any slab of meat I eat. The beef shin, carrots and gravy were also spot on and as a whole dish it was really great. Not being a dessert fan I went for cheese and biscuits and whilst the selection was rather uninspiring with cheddar, stilton and brie there was enough biscuits on my plate which for some reason kitchens have great difficulty parting with when it comes to serving up a cheese course. They have a varied bar menu full of whiksy, gin, beers and cocktails and the waiting staff, bar one rather 'intense ' chap, were great and joined in our special blend of nonsense when asked, I really like it in here and as Christmas dinners go it was an absolute win for me. I noticed they do a steak and wine for two night during the week for £30, if I could jsut meet the love of my life I"

"We booked and attended during COVID times so please bear that in mind when reading. The wifi didn 't work and there was nothing to say that they knew of the problem, so spent ages (add did many others because mobile reception is poor in the area) trying to log in to order food and check in with the COVID app before asking and finding it would just say 'connecting please wait '. We ordered and then waited 90 minutes for the food. Shortly after ordering a burger we were told that they had run out of all burgers. A short time later another table had the same response but then were told that they had one left. The food was OK but certainly not up to the prices quoted. The soup was luke warm and in desperate need of seasoning. Mac and cheese tasted like it had come from a tin. It possibly hadn 't but that was the impression. The pork curry tasted like pork in blitzed tinned tomatoes with some onion and pepper to give some spice. Again, needed seasoning. Just nothing special. They did provide (unrequested) some free bread and dipping oils whilst we were waiting. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The Deverill beer, a local ale was excellent and tasted well conditioned. The staff were all very helpful and pleasant. The pub was scrupulously clean with good COVID compliance. We would go back to give them a second chance these are difficult times especially for the hospitality trade."

"We ordered off the set menu. I had the sausage with greens and mash potato . I think, from the look and taste of it , it had been heated up in a microwave ….. the gravy was thick and shiny, almost that you could have stood your fork up in it. My friend had fish cake, hollandaise sauce with chips and salad. It arrived with every component on the same plate , a very liquid sauce with lettuce and chips soggy! We pointed this out to the manager who then bought a small bowl of very ordinary salad and a separate container of chips. He was about to disappear leaving her plate with soggy mess in front of her. We suggested she needed a clean plate at which point he grabbed a side plate replaced the Soggy plateful with it, tipping the fish cake onto it. After a few minutes we had lost any appetite we had . Eventually another waiter came and asked if we had finished . We stated our disgust with the food and their action . The ‘manager’ , he who had dealt with the soggy plate ,appeared again. Having listened to our complaint he did offer, on the house , the cheese board and another glass of wine as recompense. Finally we were only charged the pice of one set menu. I have visited this Chop house numerous times over many years apart from the last 2 years. On each previous occasion it has always been excellent so it was extremely disappointing this time. Perhaps it has come under new management or new chef ? We will no be going there again."

"It 's been a while since I 've written a review on Tripadvisor, but after visiting The Delivino restaurant in Crieff it became clear to me that it was time to dust off my keyboard and write one. Myself, my partner and my in laws visited Crieff for the afternoon, travelling from Leslie, in Fife. We stopped a friendly looking passer by on the High Street and asked him if he could reccomend somewhere we could go for a nice lunch. Without hesitation, he advised us to go to The Delivino and pointed us in the general direction. We were so pleased he did. If I was to sum up the experience in a word, it would be 'perfection '. First we were warmly welcomed in and guided to a table of our choice. Next, perfectly timed, a waitress came over to us, first, to take a drinks order then shortly after to take a food order. It goes without saying, her attentiveness and timing was impeccable and she was very warm and friendly. On that note, let 's get onto the food. That word again perfection. The four of us were very pleased with our meals, they were all very tasty, well presented and cooked to absolute perfection. The service throughout was also perfect. A perfect amount of time was given to decide on drinks and menu items not too long, not too rushed. The waiters and waitresses glided around, always being available but never appearing to encroach on our peace and space and their manner was always warm, subtle and thoroughly focussed on the diners. As I said, if I was to sum it up in one word, the word would be 'perfection '. We will definitely return."
