"Visited here for a leaving meal for a friend, found the service poor and food to be bland. I found a hair in my starter, which I pointed out to the waiter, who laughed and asked me if I would like another which I declined....I was surprised to find I was charged for the starter, and when I asked I was told “well you did not want another one” and refused to remove it from the bill. I have not been here before and would not go back. The restaurant has also been renamed, so new owners maybe in charge. Very poor"

"The service was extremely slow, and the food was disappointing. We thought our order had been forgotten and waited a long time for the starter, only to receive the wrong dish. After another long wait for the main course, it appeared to have been sitting under a heat lamp and was very dry. We didn't voice our concerns during the long wait, but we left feeling quite disappointed."

"Having visited twice in October when visiting relatives we were really looking forward to another great evening however we were all extremely disappointed. Service is really poor and staff seemed to be doing us a favour to actually even serve us. All the guests were seated in the same area virtually on top of each other in one small section. Food was really disappointing. Brie starter was just one small triangle with a teaspoon of chutney, not even a sprig of garnish. Fish with fish and chips wasn’t cooked properly and was undercooked as were the chips accompanying it. All meals were disappointing. A Friday evening in June and the place was virtually empty which should have made us think twice then!!!!! Won’t be returning again and certainly wouldn’t recommend it."

Perhaps, this restaurant is too far from the station or other popular sites in Cambridge and could not be the first choice for visitors, but still worth trying. Also, the location far from main sites is, I think, a good aspect for local people including me. ."

"I have been going to this pub restaurant for over twenty years. Yesterday I went with a friend having booked for 12 noon. Although the staff were inside and could see people at the front door it was just after noon before they let us in. Staff were fine and it was when we were seated that we were told there was a problem with the kitchen and a reduced menu. Anyway we both ordered burgers and shockingly mine arrived with a bite taken out of it. I didn’t want to make a scene as they had other customers but spoke to the staff and they replaced it. And no charge. No one could explain how it happened. They said they spoke to the chef and waiter How can something like this happen. Really upset and reluctant to return even after years of happy Sundays spent there."

"I've visited the Derby Poore several times and generally had a good experience, but this time was disappointing. We waited over 30 minutes to receive our check, despite several waitstaff passing by and us trying to get their attention. After waiting 45 minutes with no one coming to assist us, I finally had to go to the cash register to request the bill. Additionally, the food was cold, and the gravy was runny. The service was not up to par for a place with so much potential, and I won't be returning."

"Our server really tried her best, but we had to wait ages for our drinks, this happened last time we were there, and there were no customers at the bar. The starter arrived before the drinks, and the drinks order was taken on arrival. The rustic bread that we had to start was dry, and there wasn't enough oil balsamic to moisten it. We both wanted a roast dinner, which is why we came to the swan but to be honest we both found it very underwhelming. We had small pieces of beef, and the cabbage was hardly cooked. The one saving grace was the roast potatoes which were lovely"

"It was our Anniversary and I wanted something special so we went here having not been for a while as the last time we went wasn't the best but we thought we would try again. The starter was good but when the main came out my wife's fishcakes were just warm and consisted of mainly mashed potato on a pea volute which was very grainy with no taste she also had a side salad that was served in a tiny bowl and it consisted of rocket leaves a couple of slithers of cucumber the tops of spring onion and two tiny slices of tomato which was £3.50. at the end of the meal my wife had left half of it and we complained and it was removed from the bill but that is the second time we have not had a good experience there and wont be going back"

"We had an incredibly disappointing experience and will not be returning to this restaurant. While the décor and design are nice, the restaurant is severely lacking in proper management. The assistant manager is a major issue, as he seemed more interested in chatting with the kitchen staff and checking his phone than attending to the needs of customers. He was very rude to a nearby table of four when they had a problem with their drink, refusing to apologize and instead arguing with them before simply removing the cost from their bill. Despite asking him twice for the bill, we had to pay him because he was too preoccupied chatting with the kitchen staff. It was disappointing to see the other hardworking employees being let down by the manager, who seemed more focused on his phone than interacting with customers. The owner should reconsider recommending this restaurant to others."

"I have dined at The Bell on multiple occasions over the years. It used to be excellent and lived up to its reputation, as we even had a fantastic 21st birthday lunch there. However, it gradually declined over time, prompting me to not return for nearly a decade. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much the restaurant has improved since then, and it has earned its spot back on my list of favorites. The food and style are impressive, surpassing some of the Michelin-starred restaurants in central London. The service staff is friendly, but could benefit from more training, as the casual 'pub' atmosphere doesn't always complement the dining experience. Overall, well done."

"We have visited the Boot Inn at Studley a few times now. The food is always good quality and well presented. The staff are friendly and the dining area is set out well so that it doesn’t feel crowded. Lovely little venue good value and large car park makes it a go to place."

"Today's Sunday lunch visit was disappointing. The service was not great, as we were unsure who was responsible for our table. The food options were either overcooked Camembert for a starter, unavailable fillet steak, or mains that took too long to arrive. My daughter told us afterwards that her burger and chips were cold. When we asked for the bill, the correct amount was delivered but they accidentally charged another table's bill to my credit card. After bringing this to their attention, they refunded the incorrect charge and applied the right one. The restaurant was very busy and our previous experiences there have been better."

"I opted for the chicken Milanese, but the tomato sauce was dry, if there was any at all. The meal was overcooked and came out looking unappetizing, with a sprinkle of something brownish on top. There were no desserts offered, which felt like a strange oversight. My wife’s starter, camembert, was smaller than usual and poorly presented. This experience has made us hesitant to return to Arkle Manor, as we believe there are better dining options available."

"Lovely food and a good choice of menus. Our group all had different menu choices and all were happy with what they ate. The waitress was very helpful, friendly and polite. Ambience was good and the loos were nice and clean. We were a bit nonplussed as to the handwritten suggestion that we pay 10% on top of the bill. A bit of a cheek when we always pay more than that as a tip. We paid around what the suggested amount was which meant the staff would lose out. I suppose some people don’t leave a generous tip? The Hawk is always a lovely place to visit. Our little group has been there many times over the years. We’ll be back!"

"Nice dining room, friendly staff, welcome. Delicious food at reasonable prices I had the salmon. It was beautifully presented and very tasty. Absolutely go back. Good wine list . Really enjoyed. Easy to park. had to change the time of booking because we were late to get out of the Cheltenham race course. The staff was very helpful to receive us half an hour later than booked."
