"The food was restricted to a set NYE menu priced at £50 a head for 3 courses and £45 for 2 courses). The restricted menu wasn't made clear when we booked. When our food arrived, my wife did not enjoy the overly rich cheese souffle and didn't eat the caramelized onion tart main course, because it tasted oily and flavourless and the roast potatoes tasted like they'd been reheated. My wild boar ravioli starter came smothered in rocket and red onion having asked for NO rocket and just a couple of ravioli parcels. While my steak was nice, the half a tomato, mushroom and half a dozen chips didn't seem good value. Finally, when our bill arrived my wife's courses were itemised as £5 for the starter and £55 for the main £60 total), which baffled me as it was £50 for 3 courses and we declined the dessert. The waitress raised it with the manager and the bill was adjusted to £45 a head and they applied a £25 reduction which was appreciated. In terms of value, the inclusion of a large glass prosecco or wine or beer would have helped to justify the £50. All in all it wasn't a very pleasant NYE evening, which is disappointing as we live in walking distance of the Bell but will not be returning based on this experience."

Although they could not find our open booking that was not a problem because there were reserve tables and I had the booking on my phone. The food was very pleasant and the wine was more than perfect! But I wasted about it. The “fixed prices” menu was comprehensive, but for the “extra” costs for certain things.

I booked a table for Sunday dinner, but when I arrived, I was shown to a glorified coffee table not in the restaurant, but in an inferior pub like area. If I hadn't booked, I would have accepted this, but I had booked for a restaurant and expected that, after complaining, I got a better table, not great, but better, after everything I paid restaurant prices and expected better. The waitress was not smiling, no personality, asked me if she wanted to pour the wine, not wanted I to taste, could not wait to get away so that everything in all no good culinary experience.
