"I have been to Avenue many times over the years. This weekend I went to the bar with 2 friends for some cocktails. My friend was given a glass with a chip in it, which cut her lip. We told the waiter who initially seemed unbothered, he then returned to offer us a 'round of drinks on the house ' (we never asked for this, it was offered to us) When the bill arrived, all of the drinks were on the bill. We asked a different waiter for the round of drinks we 'd been promised to be removed, and he knew nothing about it. Our previous waiter then came over, he was off shift by that point and was very argumentative and rude, and acted like we were scamming him. He pointed at my friend saying I 've served HER three drinks, so that 's why three of her drinks are on the bill to which I pointed out that he had offered us a free round, so only two of each of our drinks should be on the bill. He eventually removed one drink from the bill and discounted the service charge by 30%. He then separately said to one of my friends I 'm a fair guy, what more do you expect? ' we didn 't expect anything, he offered us a free round of drinks and all we did was enquire about it. It was so rude, unpleasant and unnecessary. We were made to feel like we were scamming the restaurant, when we had absolutely no intention of doing so. Ruined a nice afternoon and none of that would have happened if they hadn 't given out a broken glass."

"Since the pandemic, the quality of service in London restaurants has noticeably declined, so it was refreshing to experience such exceptional service at this establishment. The head manager was particularly attentive, always keeping an eye on the customers. The food was excellent overall, although I did feel that the pistachio tart for dessert could have used a bit more flavor. On the bright side, the pastry itself was light and crisp, which added to the experience."

"I actually attended on the Friday for evening dinner. We were suppose to have gone again on the Sunday afternoon. But decided to give it a miss. I was not as impressed as I once was with this place. I have been here a few times and have enjoyed. But this time I did not enjoy the meal. Some of it was cold. I ordered Irish coffee. They got sent back times. First ones never looked right. Second one very cold. Third time was fine. Even the cheese board was very minimal."

"I have been frequenting this pub for several years, and during that time, it has undergone some changes. Recently, the focus has shifted to being more of a restaurant/pub."

"Service was very poor so we were disappointed as we wanted to try out the place for a long time. We were basically ignored in comparison to the larger groups that were there. I also requested something special for my partners birthday and we saw that the other table got something for a person of their groups birthday but we didn’t get anything clearly no communication between the booking notes and service… The ambience was very good the DJ was fab The food was good value for money but the drinks could’ve been better."

"Went for my son's birthday, pre booked as always and as requested on the booking said it was for his birthday. Turned up, no one about, just 1 customer visible, after a few minutes someone appears, didn't take my name and said sit in a booth if you like! Not shown to table, spoken to about the menu, nothing! Had to gesture someone over to enable a order to be placed, 3 guys just standing by the bar chatting! A guy in tracksuit bottoms who didn't have a clue took the food drinks order, asked for coleslaw but was told they didn't have any when the menus are reprinted it will be removed, also asked for draft coke but was told only little bottles available, yet a bit later I see them making a cocktail using a 1.5ltr bottle. Both our 8oz fillets arrived, both ordered medium rare, 1 was the other was at best medium. I'm not too fussy but expected it to be on point. Both very tasty. Plates cleared, and then just sat, I had to ask for the desert menu, asked if they had just ice cream, the chap in the track suit was unsure so just walked away and asked the 2 by the bar, some looking about it was then decided that they didn't have any. Asked for the bill was told to pay by the bar! At one point the background music stopped for a while, I had to ask for it to be turned back on, they did but started playing foreign music! In the Shisha bar a smell of weed came out at one point! Not impressed, nor the chief whom came out to the bar and stood with a cigarette in his mouth! (Unlite) I've been going here for years and the old Woking restaurant, last year for my son's birthday they put a candle in his desert and sang him happy birthday, he has been on at me for months to go again this year. I can only presume this restaurant is under new ownership, if so they have loads to learn or there business won't last. Disappointed is an understatement! Rather spend my money in Miller Carter chain that's saying something!"

"The price of 4 drinks and 4 shots somehow come to £75, the gin alone was £37 which I think is absolutely ridiculous considering it’s not even on the drinks menu so we was unable to know what we was getting ourselves into! We had just had a 2 steak meal with a bottle of wine and 4 shots at the cut and craft for exactly the same price before coming! Definitely won’t be returning!"

"Lovely Saturday lunch with friend. Friendly welcome and shown to reserved table at window and presented with menus with varied selection to suit meat, fish eaters and vegetarians. Young friendly waitress was keen to discuss specials and efficient bringing drinks . Felt well looked after and waiting staff efficient and keen to ensure we were enjoying our meal with appearing overbearing. Will definitely return."

"This was my first visit to The White Lion since its refurbishment. I’ll start with the good. The refurbishment has been tastefully done and has improved the pub, and staff were lovely and very helpful. However the food was a major disappointment. Two of us ordered the grains and greens salad. When it arrived it was tiny, it was in a very small bowl, we were amazed they could call this a main course salad. If we had ordered it as a starter or side dish then it would have been acceptable, but this was supposed to be a main course It was called a grains and greens salad. Well, there were plenty of greens but you had to search for the grains. One of the salads was ordered with chicken. There were three tiny pieces of chicken on it. We did order side dishes with the salads but were tiny too, the Mac and cheese took two or three bites to finish! We did complain about the salads and our server said that there had been similar complaints and that this was the portion side the pub owners had told them to serve. They did offer us complementary desserts, which was a lovely gesture, but hte salad should have been a lot larger to be called a main course dish. Two of our party ordered the skewers, the portion size for these was marginally larger than the scalds, but still in the small size. For this started sized plate of not much more than lettuce I was charged almost £18!!! This was not value for money. Both of us who ordered the salad left hungry and disappointed. I have eaten main course salads at other pubs and restaurants and they have always been substantial main dishes, not stater sized small bowls. The other meals that were ordered were slightly better, although the skewers weren’t very substantial either. I will not be returning to the White Lion for food, and wouldn’t advise anyone who is hungry , or who doesn’t like being over charged to do so either. All of our party felt the food was very overpriced for the quality and quantity, and none of us are in any hurry to return."
"Deligthful compact restaurant of the highest qaulity.Staff were attentive and helpful with a smile. The food was terrific, well and beautiful presented that was pleasing to the eye and a gastrome to the taste and smell!!Puddings were heavenly and we all shared as it would have been a shame not yo have tasted each one.... We would have been very full if we had all of them to ourself!!We were left to take our time and not rushed which was a added bonus. Will come again and will recommendBINGLEYSPlus it is situated in the heart of Old Town Poole and dates back to 1555...."

"It is to be seen a bit) what damages, it is a labyrinth to access a restaurant established in a former attic local) but well arranged with a glass. The view of the bell towers, some will love, I say that close to an emblematic place, the layout could have been better studied. The food is normal English is very expensive. The service is fine. I do not recommend It's worth seeing a little), which is a shame, it's a labyrinth to get to a restaurant set up in a room a former attic) but well ugly out with a glass roof. The view of the tower churchs is something that some people will like, but I would say that near an emblematic site, the layout could have been better thought out. The food is normally English and very expensive). The service is very good. I would not recommend"

"Very enjoyable lunch in the upstairs part of Cellarium (worth booking an upstairs table). I had the wild mucshroom and tarragon fregola which was delicious. Ambiance is relaxed, the room light and airy with unusual roof scape of Westminster Abbey. Service was hit and miss. Despite me booking, there was no acknowledgement of this, order taking slow and general lack of attentiveness. This wouldn't stop me going again, but it's a shame for a hidden gem in Westminster."

"Fantastic meal at Headlam Hall Hotel. Both my wife and I really enjoyed our meals. The Orangery dining room is a lovely backdrop for the food that was well presented, exceptionally tasty and, unlike many meals out these days, well portioned. The menu certainly lives up to the claim of Modern British cooking using locally sourced ingredients. My Tandoori lamb scotch egg starter was very flavoursome, a great combination... and even had a runny yolk! Both mains (belly pork/fillet of beef) tasted great, and the meats were succulent. My chocolate cheesecake was to die for, and Vanessa's Baked Parkin, salted caramel sauce, brandy snap and black treacle ice cream was a very clever and harmonious combination of flavours. Service was efficient and friendly but not over-obtrusive. All in all, it was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Thank you."

"Staff disappeared after bringing the food. For a whole hour and a half not a single member of the team either approached the table or looked in our direction. Had to stand up and go and ask for more drinks. Couldn't get them to bring the bill to the table so walked to the exit to pay.... waitress didn't even look at to us, just printed out the bill and handed it to us silently."

"on the other day with several people sitting here. overall we were very happy. the personal was friendly and friendly and very child-friendly. Sometimes the employees are obviously unhappy about small children who run around and make noise, but here it has not disturbed at all. eating was some of the best I ever had in a restaurant, and each of the adult I competed with. would definitely recommend people."

"The staff were lovely and could not do more however, there were only 2 staff on and they were very harassed although they their best not to show it. The starter was excellent but The prime burger was very dry with a very sad piece of lettuce and tomatoe on it.. the chips were lukewarm. The dessert was average and we were only offered other drinks quite a while after we had eaten. We decided not to stay for tea and coffee. We used to eat here very regularly and always at Christmas but I don’t think we will be back for quite some time."

"The restaurant was moderately busy, enough to create a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The waiting staff were prompt, helpful and friendly throughout the meal. Starters were fine, but my husband’s ribeye steak, though cooked as requested, was more gristly and fatty than expected. In fairness, we received a genuine apology from the restaurant manager and our coffee/brandy order was free of charge. This was much appreciated."

"Charming independent restaurant with fantastic food. The portions are generous, offering great value for money. The only minor drawback was that we were seated by the door in the back room, which is where the staff and smokers go outside. I can imagine that if it were very cold, it would be quite uncomfortable. I believe it would be best if customers weren’t allowed to use this area for smoking."

"Ate here twice recently, both evenings were enjoyable with a lovely ambience and good service. The food was a bit mixed with most dishes being enjoyable but a few disappointments. The first visit a friend particularly requested the eggs with the gammon to be served runny, nope, they were not rock hard but close. On the second visit I chose the Thai Chicken and Vegetable Curry with sticky rice. Weirdly the chicken was served on the side, not in the sauce and was dry. The sticky rice could have been used as glue, it was one big lump. Such a shame as the sauce was delicious, although not enough of it. Both evenings certain dishes were unavailable. On the first visit we were not told until after we'd ordered, the second time the information came when the server brought the menus, much better. Overall we had two good evenings but with a few tweaks they could have been perfect."

"I was there for a late father's day meal with my husband, his parents and my father. Our parents are in their late eighties and earlier nineties. We were served by Alex and Courtney who were friendly and helpful. Alex was particularly patient with our parents. He explained some aspects of the menu and let them take their time to order. He was very kind to them. Thank you for a pleasant evening. We all enjoyed our meals too."
