"Wow! Think they may have a new chef since we last came in 2022 but absolutely sensational food… we popped in for lunch then came back for dinner it was so delicious and also amazing value?? They have a three “small plates” for £25 but the plates are a full meal! Small it’s not part of them the quality of the meat and the flavour of the dishes are fabulous. The menu is also massive and it Dosent need to be because it’s all so delicious "

"Primitivo Bar Eatery in Birmingham’s Colmore Business District celebrate their Anniversary this week. Coincidentally, its also me and my wife's Anniversary this week. So where better to enjoy lunch in the sun. The weather was incredible, a pavement table was available and...Rishi Sunak was footing of the bill up to a maximum of per person. If there was a fruit machine in the bar, it would be the equivalent of scoring three big ticks followed by an endless waterfall of coins. Primitivo reopened two weeks ago with a full array of safety precautions; foot operated sanitizers, protective screens, a one way system and a food menu allowing reduced numbers of staff in the kitchen. There’s even single visitor loos on hand so no more taking your friend with you. There’s even a new South American beer, Modelo for those who want to avoid the C word. I opted for Sparkling Water, with temperatures north of degrees centigrade, it went down like Champagne. I was in a Glasgow Wetherspoons last week and ordered Haddock and Chips. I’m not saying it was intimidating but even the fish ran out. Back in Brum, Primitivo are thankfully more on the ball with stock levels. Despite half a century and at least hours of unwrapping fish and chips, I can’t claim to be an expert but this was, as my daughter would say, ‘fire.’ For readers above the age of the Haddock and Chips; beer battered haddock, hand cut chips, mushy peas and tart sauce is a very good thing. Anji chose the Thai Fishcake; delicately spiced with chilli and lime, fresh spring onion salad and sweet chilli dressing with a side of Fries (V) She kindly offered me some and it was awesome. The kitchen boasts local gastronomic heritage, Chef Murray is non other than local legend Paul Fulford’s son. It’s like going to Guitar Guitar on Hagley Road and buying a Fender from Eric Clapton’s kid. Both meals, a side and soft drinks allowed us to take full advantage of Rishi’s Eat Out to Help Out cap of per person. Eat Out to Help Out runs until the end of August. It’s good to see Government use Nudge Economics to encourage those who can, venture out and support the hospitality industry. VAT has also been temporarily reduced from to We learned this morning we are officially in recession. Supporting local independent businesses is the fast track to get our region back into the fast lane. The money spent in venues such as Primitivo fund the wages of it’s staff and are reinvested locally. Thank you to all the team for a fabulous experience. Congratulations Prit on your Anniversary."

"Centrally located and easy to find the small cafe was a delight. It's in the non busy side street which makes it more like a relaxed place to enjoy your breakfast. The cafe was modestly designed and has a home like feeling. Small space well utilized. If You are lucky you might get the comfort corner in the Edinburgh Larder near the window. Again the staff was friendly and it felt like home talking to them. (I must admit staff everywhere we went in Edinburgh was friendly shopping malls, restaurants, cafe's, hotel). We ordered sausage roll in brown bread with fresh juice and cappuccino. Our order was simple and had no complex culinary skill's to do, it was as I expected. Service was quick and it didn't take me long to devour the whole thing. Price which I feel is the most important thing was right up my street. Inexpensive breakfast good ambiance good rating I do recommend this cafe. Plus, I'd recommend you to be more adventurous with your breakfast and go for a full Scottish breakkie."

"I am a local so I have eaten in this cafe before.I will however not be returning! Whilst the food is always satisfactory you first have to run the gauntlet of rude, stroppy and miserable staff. My friend and I are over sixty both retired professionals not that it matters but we are not used to being barked at and very embarrassed.I don’t think I will be visiting again, time for a boycott. They need to remember that if they have no customers they have no business."

"On first impressions, lovely place in the village, lovely rooms, very clean, comfy bed, the room I was in, lovely decor, this was booked by my workplace we thought breakfast was included within the price they paid, in the morning of leaving we ordered a full English breakfast which was £11.50, we also had a pot of tea, fresh orange juice toast, when we came to check out, my bill was £17.50, I have never stayed anywhere where I've had to pay extra for a cup of tea, it's normally included within your breakfast price, so please don't be fooled by these extra prices for a pot of tea, fresh orange juice toast, also no cereal available, which is unusual for an establishment not too offer, so this is the reason why I haven't given it 5 star rating, as I thought this was quite disappointing in my opinion, otherwise not a bad hotel, this was a work trip, I can't comment for the menu as we ate elsewhere on the evening, but I just wanted others to know before they maybe ordered the above items. Just giving my honest opinion of my overall stay."

"A Great British Pub but not a Great British Meal for 2 of us in a party of 4. To be fair the pub overall is nice and the beer good. But I was bitterly disappointed by the Fish and Chips. Advertised as small or large portions for £13.95 and £17.95 respectively the former should have been on the child’s menu it was so pathetically small. I rarely write negative reviews but this sort of offering gives Pub food a bad name. And to be honest the quality was only so so and in no way compensated for the price size. Other dishes on the menu have similar size options so just beware when you order. I was offered another choice to make up for it but once you’ve started and everyone has their meals I never like to ‘start again’."

"Last time I came to the Crow and Gate was about 2 years ago and yesterday we decided to walk down to have Sunday lunch after going to another chain a few weeks back in Green Street Green. I must say, this was a totally different place from my last visit and in a nice surprising way. The staff Ellie M on her first day along with Ben were great hosts to us and we felt pampered. The meal was superb and asked if we could speak with the chef (Phil C) to congratulate him on his meal and all the staff around him. The portion sizes were excellent and very good value for money for what you get and drinks reasonable. Thanks guys, will be back soon. Steve Caroline"

"Had a great meal here today. The staff were very kind about letting us stay late due to two of us arriving late delayed by having to re route because the toll bridge is closed please be aware of that. It's a well thought out menu, with lots of choice for people with different dietary needs. And all of us found both our courses to be absolutely delicious if a little too generously proportioned. I was delighted to have more than one vegetarian (in fact, vegan) option to choose from and so tasty and original. Especially loved the mango chutney that came with my starter. And my meat eating other half declared the gravy with his beef main to be the best he has eaten. And that is high praise indeed. We will be back and wish all the team here great success! Vegetarian options: Good choices, not bog standard pub grub. They'd put as much thought into them as the other meals."

"My brother and I came to the New Inn for a dinner. We were greeted by a very friendly service manager, and that basically set the theme for that evening with the service manager, bar attendant and food server all being very friendly and polite. The food servings were very well priced and had large portions. I was very impressed and while I have only a short time left in the UK I will certainly be returning and would recommend them to friends and travelers alike. The business has a lot of share platters so if you are the romantic type and like to share a large platter for dinner and even desert then you wont be disappointed."
"We came To the royal as a family of three in the school holidays. All of us had an absolutely delicious meal. The loaded steak burger is outstanding. We ordered a sundae to hare as a pudding and all I can say is wow. All three of us dug in and it was still plenty. They have really got everything just right. The lady serving us could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Can’t wait to return"

"Initially seemed promising as bar staff were friendly and we were accommodated on a busy Sunday without a booking. Menu was limited, as was to be expected on a Sunday, but there were a couple of items unavailable, making it even more limited. We found this out after we 'd ordered said items. My partner and I ordered the 'sundried tomato linguine ', it was very basic and very bitter. There was little to no seasoning or herbs, it genuinely tasted like a tin of tomatoes had been mixed with some linguine. The 'garlic bread ' it came with was just baked bread with butter and a sprinkle of dried parsley, it had no garlic flavour at all. My partner ate his, as his sense of taste is limited, I didn 't eat mine. Staff did offer to make something else, but as I didn 't want Sunday lunch, it wasn 't really an option. Thankfully I was refunded as it was £12 and not at all worth it. Our friends ordered Sunday lunch and were very happy with their food, so if that 's what you 're after then you should be OK. Unfortunately as staff were clearing the table, one of them dropped a dirty spoon onto my friends shirt and its now stained with red cabbage. He was offered some wet tissue to get it off but I think the initial sarcastic reaction of 'oh are you going to bill me for that now? ' put him off accepting any help with it. We did see another customer having to return a dessert that was inedible, so it would seem there are a few issues in the kitchen."

"Terrible experience. The restaurant claimed to offer gluten-free options, but when I asked about the safety of their food, they said nothing was really safe and that bits could drop into the fryer. They initially said I could have a vegan burger with chips and a bun, but then backtracked and said the chips weren't safe due to possible contamination. When I questioned the menu inconsistency, the staff said it was probably a typo, which was not reassuring. When I inquired about a gluten-free bun, I was met with exasperation. Overall, we decided to leave without eating and won't be returning to this establishment."

"Under the heading of Elaine my wife Upon waiting for my meal order we had to experience a complaint from another dissatisfied customer. I can honestly say when previously ordering a steak at your premises it's never been bleeding onto my plate that's why I returned it to be cooked correctly , when it was returned to me it exactly the same untouched with the same sauce unmoved,. I feel I gave you chance to rectify the fault to which you failed and as witnessed by your waitress had to swap meal with my son who was having a burger who doesn't mind eating ****** steak which explains why all the plates were empty upon your collection. Maybe you need to communicate a bit more with your staff and reassess your customer service skills"

"Visited many times over the years and this now Seams to be struggling in the wrong direct, although pleasant enough staff the quality presentation and range is expensive for what is it and the taste is mediocre I visited on a cold wet and windy day which may help to explain many things but not again on a hurry Saying that, with a few tweeks and looking at of from the outside from an objective point this place could be amazing again…baby steps !"

"The quality of food is great and not only are the staff polite and helpful the waiting time for food is on point. I’d definitely recommend the windmill to my family and friends whenever they ask if theres a relaxed place and atmosphere to get a good munch! Parking: There’s available parking around the back of the building and there’s spaces out front too. Kid-friendliness: They have a claw machine and a kids menu. Wheelchair accessibility: There’s a side door that has an easy access ramp for people that are in a wheelchair."

"Burger was absolutely amazing. Really recommend. Also great service, the waitresses told my friend and I that we could order from the till instead of going to the bar as they had noticed there was a large group of men who were being unpleasant when we walked past (they were) and the waitresses were worried we felt uncomfortable (we did). Great evening here."

"We dropped in for lunch after visiting Framlingham Castle. It's a rambling old building and most tables in the restaurant area were already taken so we ended up in the bar which was quite cosy. I had a couple of pints of very good Timothy Taylors, my wife had some not so great Sauvignon blanc. The lunch menu wasn't anything special but the home made steak pie with mash that I chose was very good (and it did look home made). The rack of ribs were also good with a lovely sauce and the ribs just fell apart, as they should, however it was an enormous portion and came with a pile of fairly average fries. The staff were really helpful and kept checking we were OK with everything."

"We had made a reservation and the second we walked in, we were told that the restaurant was too busy they couldn’t obey our reservation. They blamed it on a kitchen staff walking out that night. However, seating the guests and offering a drink would have been more acceptable whilst we waited a little longer for the food. Most of those in the venue didn’t have a booking and were just standing at the bar having drinks. Poor attitude and the abruptness of the staff as we walked in was rude and unprofessional. Haven’t been here before, was going to be my first time, but definitely wouldn’t return ever again."

"For Father's Day dinner, the staff at the restaurant was extremely friendly. The establishment was clean and had a welcoming atmosphere, with a delightful scent of food in the air. I ordered the roasted beef, which was incredibly tender and tasted like a home-cooked meal. My partner and our young child had the pork, which was also delicate and flavorful. The portions were generous, with a side of hot, steaming vegetables that our child happily devoured. We also indulged in some delicious desserts. We will definitely be returning, thanks to the excellent service provided by the staff."
