"We came here for lunch on the day the kitchen has just reopened after a year. We ordered from the small plates menu and were not disappointed! I had the lamb meatballs which came in a rich tomato sauce, which were beautifully herby and soft. My mum had the lamb kofta which is the best she’s ever had. We also had a side order of truffle Parmesan fries which were amazing. Reasonably priced and wonderful food, staff were attentive and friendly too, will definitely return! Hope to try the desserts next time."

"The restaurant is a great spot to enjoy a meal and some drinks. I tried the vegetable lasagna with chips, which was served in a generous portion size. My friends ordered the fish and chips, which were also delicious. The restaurant tends to be busy during lunch and after work hours. The staff and atmosphere are very welcoming. You can easily open a bar tab if needed. The restaurant is spacious and has a new "Barwick Room" that can be reserved for private events and parties."

"Went here for a late Sunday brunch after checking the reviews Edinburgh Larder didn't disappoint! I ordered the roasted red pepper and basil soup of the day with half a balsamic aubergine and broad bean pate sandwich. The staff were very accommodating making my half sandwich with gluten free bread. My SO ordered the honey leg ham, gherkin and wholegrain mustard sandwich which came with a beautifully dressed side salad. Sandwiches took a little while coming out but were worth the wait. The entire meal felt wholesome and nutritious, and knowing they source all of their produce locally makes it even better. Proper soul food."

"Popped into the Rockpool café for breakfast while staying in Cullen. The cafe is bright and welcoming. The staff were friendly and attentive. I had the vegetarian breakfast which included vegan lorne sausage, which was absolutely delicious. My husband had the full Scottish which he also said was really nice. Big breakfast 2 x eggs, 2 x tattie scones, 1 x sausage, 1 x lorne sausage, mushrooms, fried tomato, beans and toast. They are very popular with many tables already reserved at 10am when they opened. There was a constant stream of locals who come in to get their morning coffee and takeaway breakfast always a good sign I would say?"

"I was on a tour, so the time was for me. This place proved to be the easiest to find, so I ran in, asked something that was delicious, vegan and spicy. The man teased me, but put in an aile folder and left me out there in my 10 minutes time frame. I spent the entire 10 minutes gawking in the restaurant, which was very nice. It is a very large, spacious and welcoming place, full of cultural art and colour. My food was full of this irresistible aroma I love in Indian cuisine. I was glad to have found this place in my crazy dash."

"Having spent the night in this newly refurbished hotel and then having lunch the next day, I can say I am extremely impressed. The bedrooms are gorgeous, and the beds so comfortable! As for the food, it was exquisite we had the burrata and heritage tomato salad, chargrilled asparagus with polenta and the hand cut chips (some of the best chips ever). It all came out in a timely manner, the correct temperature and the staff were very friendly. And the bar area is nice and cosy with a great selection of drinks on offer!"

"Last time I came to the Crow and Gate was about 2 years ago and yesterday we decided to walk down to have Sunday lunch after going to another chain a few weeks back in Green Street Green. I must say, this was a totally different place from my last visit and in a nice surprising way. The staff Ellie M on her first day along with Ben were great hosts to us and we felt pampered. The meal was superb and asked if we could speak with the chef (Phil C) to congratulate him on his meal and all the staff around him. The portion sizes were excellent and very good value for money for what you get and drinks reasonable. Thanks guys, will be back soon. Steve Caroline"

"Good food from a wide ranging menu at good prices. The service was friendly and they were thoughtful enough to inform us that there would be a slight delay with the food. Nice local pub atmosphere. One bit of constructive criticism the dessert sponges were a little heavy and merengue a little hard. Having said that I’d certainly go again!"

"One of the worst experiences we’ve had in a very long time. We arrived for our 4:30pm pre-booked table only to be welcomed by staff with puzzled faces. It seemed that our table booking had not actually been reserved or set up. Fortunately, the pub wasn’t busy and we were allocated a table (right in view of the bar). We quickly ordered our drinks at the bar and took them over to our table. We then spent around 20 minutes deciding what food to order. We were informed that our order needed to be ordered at the bar so we made our way there and relayed our food order to one of the staff members who put it through their system. The young lady who took our order repeated it back to us and it was all correct. Naturally, we made our way back to our table to enjoy our drinks and wait for our food. 45 minutes went by and still no food. I decided to ask one of the waitresses for an update as to how long we would be waiting. I explained that we had onward plans and so just wanted an idea on how long the food would be. The young lady went to the kitchen. She then returned to our table and said that our order would be another 10 minutes and the wait was ‘on the fish’. I explained that the only fish we had ordered was a side dish and we would be happy to receive the rest of the food. Another 15 minutes passed and not only had we received no food, but no update. I approached a different member of staff and explained the situation. That member of staff then went into the kitchen. She then came out of the kitchen and walked straight past our table and towards the bar area where we could see the staff talking between themselves. Within a few minutes, the member of staff who we spoke to initially stormed out of the kitchen swearing at the kitchen staff. It made us feel really uncomfortable. A different member of staff (somebody who I think had just started their shift) then came over to our table to explain our food order hadn’t made its way to the kitchen. This was despite a staff member having laid our table with cutlery and condiments and the false information given about the wait on the fish. Despite the half hearted apology and confirmation we would not need to pay for our drinks, the service provided was abysmal. I was told that the manager was too busy in the kitchen to come and speak to us and I was asked to leave my contact details so that they could contact me (I didn’t ask to speak to the manager but I would have expected them to address the situation with us directly, especially considering how quiet the dining area was). It was abundantly clear that the staff recognised how poor their service had been and were not in any way willing to address it at the time. I am still yet to hear from management. We have eaten here before and not had any problems. It’s a shame that this experience has now meant that we will be very reluctant to return in the future. It would have been very different if the staff had dealt with the situation honestly and sincerely."

"Stunning meal, great staff and you can tell they enjoyed there jobs, me and my wife tried the fish sandwich and cheesy garlic bread this time and it was great. The Chipotle coleslaw was a revelation and worked great with the super crispy fish. This place is a must try if it's a quick lunch or a big meal out we'll worth it. Thank you."

"We visited at 12.30 for Mother’s Day. We were shown to our table straight away and it was a comfortable table by the door for five of us. The staff were so friendly and chatty, my mum and myself were given a free glass of wine to celebrate MD, which we thought was a really nice touch. Once my son arrived we ordered our food, there is plenty of choice of traditional sunday lunches. Three of us ordered the lamb shank and one chicken and one beef. Our food didn’t take too long and they were very busy. There was plenty of choice of veg, roast mashed potatoes, carrots, cauliflower cheese, cabbage, broccoli, red cabbage, we all had a large Yorkshire pudding with all meals. Everyone said it was one the best sunday lunches they’ve had, my lamb was so tender and my son said his beef was perfectly cooked too and my husband said his was the best chicken he’s ever had in a restaurant and we had an extra jug of gravy. Everything was cooked perfectly and came on really nice. Trendy crockery. Four of us decided to have pudding even though we were full, I had apple rhubarb crumble with custard and it was a huge home made portion and piping hot it also tasted delicious, my mum son opted for the cheesecake and they said it was beautiful and one other had the treacle tart with clotted cream, everyone agreed it was all beautiful and we would definitely recommend a visit, we will definitely not be going anywhere else for sunday lunch. The service and food was brilliant, our bill for 4x 2 courses and 1x1 course, three and half pints of Timothy Taylor and a large Sauvignon blanc came to a very reasonable £134.80."

"Awful. Offer gluten-free, but on request said nothing was really safe, bits could fall in the frit, etc. then traced back when I tried to ask what I could have a vegan burger with chips and rolls, but chips not sure how the frit could have 'bits fall in it' their words not mine! Although in one place on menu looks like chips ok and listed on another bit not as ngci. I asked and he said it's probably a typo, so not very soothing. And when I asked if she had gluten-free rolls, I was sewn to him to ask chef, but he had lost me until then. We went without food. Personally we do not go back"

"MacKenzies is five star in all respects: It is in a lovely area of North Yorkshire; It has ample, good parking; It has an excellent range of shopping via fresh meat and vegetables, deli produce and giftware. We had booked a table for breakfast and...were met by a very friendly gentleman who showed us to a table in the conservatory. We both chose the Full English which ticked the simple but essential three boxes for me re a good cooked breakfast, ie top quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and nicely presented. As breakfasts go this is as good as it gets, and as well as being delicious it was substantial enough to deem further food later on in the day pretty much redundant. From a cooking point of view the food was flawless and the only suggestion I could possibly make is that large plates would be more practical from the diner’s perspective as I found it awkward to eat from the bowls they use which, although a good size, still weren’t quite roomy enough for the large breakfast. Service throughout was top class and the feeling you get here is of a real desire to make the customer feel special. And it works!"

"We arrived here on a very busy Sunday at around 4.30 pm and managed to get a parking space in the car park with a few spaces left. On entering the pub we only just got through the door to be met by a fair size queue of people either waiting for drinks or to be told which table they were to be sat at. As it was a very sunny day and the place has quite a large and very pleasant outside space for customers, we didn't mind too much about queuing to get a table as the warm sunny Sunday made it very busy. We got our table number and ordered our food and sat down enjoying a drink and waited for our meals and sadly it was a table booked for 4.30 and our meal came at 6.15 which was quite a wait. Our meals were good to some extent but the roast potatoes were hard and not warm enough, however the meat, veg and Yorkshire puddings were excellent. The star ratings would have been higher if the roast potatoes had been softer and warmer. Overhaul this place is well worth a visit but a few things as mentioned need improving, the staff worked hard and our waitress was very pleasant and polite."

"Food and drink was good value for money. All the food tasted nice, good portion sizes and went down a treat. Halloumi fries and the sweet potato fries are recommended. Staff were extremely nice, friendly and welcoming. Cannot fault them whatsoever. Tables and interior were clean and tidy. The bar next door was busy but we wouldn't have known as didn't hear any noise from there. No issues in getting a table, but it was Tuesday night. We didn't realise, but remember to use your Meerkat Meals voucher to get 25% off your meals Monday-Wednesday. We'll definately be back."

"Burger was absolutely amazing. Really recommend. Also great service, the waitresses told my friend and I that we could order from the till instead of going to the bar as they had noticed there was a large group of men who were being unpleasant when we walked past (they were) and the waitresses were worried we felt uncomfortable (we did). Great evening here."

"We were in Framlingham for a funeral, and had travelled a long way. An early check in was £10, which were happy to pay. Our time of arrival was 12am, which we had given. When we arrived at 12am there was no one to check us in, despite two staff near reception. Both said it had to be the manager, who took ages to arrive. Wanting to freshen up and change, and seeing time ticking away was very frustrating. The room was large with a vestibule, and large bathroom. The bed was very uncomfortable, and in need of a new mattress. The young man in the restaurant in the evening was very pleasant and efficient, or this would have been two stars. The food when it arrived was good, but it took ages, even though it was quiet."

"It certainly is a hidden spot. My party of six is very happy with the restaurant. The food is lovely. Location is great. The staff who lead us to our table is very welcoming. He took our order nicely but came back telling four of us no scallops. It will be better if the chefs can give him a head up. It was quite a big gap between starters and mains. We were fine with that as it’s a good time to chat. One of the staff was a bit aggressive when she told us to leave. “We want to go home as we need to start again tomorrow at 8am.” I know we were there till quite late but the way she said it was rude actually. To be honest, it would have been better if we were told like 10-15 mins ahead. Another staff is so kind and polite who opened the door and said goodnight to us. It is a shame that not all the staffs are like him. Anyway, I will go back there again."

"For Father's Day dinner, the staff at the restaurant was extremely friendly. The establishment was clean and had a welcoming atmosphere, with a delightful scent of food in the air. I ordered the roasted beef, which was incredibly tender and tasted like a home-cooked meal. My partner and our young child had the pork, which was also delicate and flavorful. The portions were generous, with a side of hot, steaming vegetables that our child happily devoured. We also indulged in some delicious desserts. We will definitely be returning, thanks to the excellent service provided by the staff."
