"A Great British Pub but not a Great British Meal for 2 of us in a party of 4. To be fair the pub overall is nice and the beer good. But I was bitterly disappointed by the Fish and Chips. Advertised as small or large portions for £13.95 and £17.95 respectively the former should have been on the child’s menu it was so pathetically small. I rarely write negative reviews but this sort of offering gives Pub food a bad name. And to be honest the quality was only so so and in no way compensated for the price size. Other dishes on the menu have similar size options so just beware when you order. I was offered another choice to make up for it but once you’ve started and everyone has their meals I never like to ‘start again’."

A true British Pub in the middle of Bath. Great food and beer selection. Unassuming and not commercialized- just a pub.

Amazing food and service from start to finish. All the main courses were cooked to perfection including roast beef. Service was good, drinks and food were delivered quickly. Definitely recommended

From the moment we walked in the door Jai was welcoming and informative. Very personal service. We had roast dinner- cooked to perfection by Amy and Alfie- who were willing to adapt to any personal preferences. Would definitely recommend you won’t be disappointed View menu

We spent two evenings in Bath and were recommended The Salamander by Fidel's Rum bar, we came both nights due to the atmosphere. What an amazing cosy, friendly place! Food is delicious Amazing staff Gareth behind bar Alfie, Amy chefs were so friendly and kind and got us an scrumptious desert despite kitchen nearly being closed...we will return. Although a pub, the food has a feel of home cooked fresh with great flavours...thank you guys xx

Very rarely do I feel the need to write a review about anywhere I go but this is by far and away one of the best pubs that I have been to in recent memory. The food was exceptional! The beer was delicious and your man behind the bar, very Kenneth Branagh-esque, was BRILLIANT! Overall, don’t go anywhere else in Bath because once you’re in here, nowhere else will even come close in comparison. You most certainly won’t ever want to leave. I know I don’t! Next time I’m in Bath, I will be heading straight to this pub asap!

Came here for Sunday lunch after reading reviews on trip advisor and it didn’t disappoint. Lovely traditional pub, (very clean inc toilets fantastic food and friendly staff. A lot of places state they are child friendly but this pub really was, we were seated so we had plenty of room for buggy and all our bags and a high chair was ready and waiting for us. The staff chatted away to my son even though they must have been very busy. They don’t have a kids menu but do a large and small roast size and the small was perfect for my son (baby shared his! . Thank you for such a lovely afternoon, I’d really recommend. View menu

Absolutely incredible place, amazing food and very friendly staff. As a celiac I always try and find somewhere I can eat in advance of traveling and this place was perfect, I had the dried chicken which was some of the best chicken I've had in a long time. My partner who is not celiac had a fish finger sandwich and it was huge, with locally baked bread. The staff were incredibly friendly, Gi behind the bar (sorry if I've spelt it wrong) ended up chatting to us for ages about different things. We left there feeling like we've known him for years. Absolutely incredible atmosphere food and service. 100% would recommend to anyone with celiacs disease or anyone who just wants some good grub.

We attended The Salamander for the first time late on a Sunday lunchtime. We were greeted by the amazing Natasha and her colleague Joe. Both of them were engaging and displayed great customer service skills. Natasha looked after us and gave us taster samples of some great drinks. We settled for a cider and the fantastic stout. We then ordered two Sunday roasts: one the lamb and the other the vegan. Both meals were truly great. The roast potatoes were exceptional and the gravy just the best. Could not find any fault with the staff, the venue or the food. A great traditional English pub serving fabulous food. Will definitely return shortly. Thanks Natasha and the rest of the team for a great l...
