A refreshing cold soup with ripe tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, onions, olive oil, and vinegar, perfect for a light summer appetizer.

"Amazing flavours brought together on each plate, 3 of us swapped fork fulls of our choices of meals, so glad we all went for very different meals, from mussels, beef, scallops, brill, lamb and pork. Then the puddings came out ...oh my life... apple sorbet and so much more, chocolate mousse thing with so many delicious other things. The whole experience of fine food, relaxed atmosphere was brilliant. I have eaten here on every visit to Porthleven, 4 times in all and rate this restaurant as number 1 in my favourite places to eat in Cornwall Food and location makes it 5 stars from me ."

"Fabulous meal! Hubby went here with colleagues and told me I'll enjoy it. So week after, I booked a table for us and everything we ordered was really good. My fave was the meaty set Tabla de Carne consist of steak, Chorizo sausage (absolutely divine! , chicken fillet and ribs with a manchego cheese and chili dip. The ribs was just so lip smacking good! A must visit place when you're in Glasgow. We're already looking forward to becoming regulars."

"Good food and nice atmosphere. There was a slight issue in that I contacted them to add an extra person to the booking earlier in the week which they confirmed was fine. When we got there the booking was still for 4 people- this was quickly resolved and we were accommodated as a group of 5. The restaurant was quite hard to find as the Google pin wasn't totally accurate and the restaurant sign is hidden by a canopy."

"We really enjoyed yesterday's French meal as prepared by the very talented Eric and his team. I had the mussel special for my main and it was exactly as I like it a beautiful, strong white wine sauce with perfectly cooked chips to dunk in it. The apple and walnut cake went down a treat with a glass of Sauternes and the post meal coffees were very nice with what we thought were homemade Amaretti biscuits. We always try and get the opportunity to try Weymouth seafood when we're in the area and Les Enfants Terribles does it proud. I'd love to come again in the future and try the fish and chips any excuse to have more of the chips! Thanks for a great meal."

"My wife and I had Sunday lunch here on a special deal with Amazon Local. We paid £9.95 each for a really lovely meal and some of the best roast beef we have had for a long time. The hotel is located in the rural setting of Woughton on the Green on the edge of Milton Keynes and combines country house charm with traditional furnishings. There is plenty of parking .We ate in Lanes Restaurant (it isn't called Seasons any longer) which was quite busy with only a few tables left. The service from start to finish was professional and friendly. There are three choices on the menu but we had a tomato and pepper soup with croutons that were a little soggy but the soup tasted great. I had smoked salmon and crayfish with a mary rose sauce, again very tasty. For main course we had the traditional roast beef and Yorkshire puddings with roast potatoes and vegetables. The beef was outstanding, cooked medium rare and sliced very generously. The horseradish sauce they served was outstanding with nice pieces of horseradish that made it zesty and flavoursome. This contrasts with the rather wishy washy horseradish you normally get in restaurants. Slightly less impressive were the vegetables as there were only a few shards of limp carrots and parsnips, but the beef more than made up for it. A separate pot of gravy was brought to the table, again a nice touch usually only seen in more expensive restaurants. My wife didn’t have dessert but I had burnt cream or crème brule which was really good. For drinks we asked for a bottle of sparkling water but unfortunately they just poured carbonated chilled filtered tap water from a bottle, which neither of us like, then took the bottle away. I have never been to a restaurant that successfully does this and this one was no exception. The wine was a very acceptable French chardonnay at £25. Generally the wine list caters for all budgets but is a little on the expensive side.We would thoroughly recommend a visit here for Sunday lunch and even better if you can get a great deal as we did."

"a few yards from the bank of england is hispania, an ambitious opening that in this phase is a tapas bar and business, but later in 2013 will be a 35-seat fine restaurant. the chef of the future restaurant will be michelin with marcos moran by casa gerardo in asturias,) but this evaluation is the tapas bar.<br/ <br/ the spatial features are very smart, with floor tiles and marble from spanies, bronze light fittings and a high deck. on the ground floor there is a tapas bar and a small deli, on the upper floor a sherry bar and a private dining room. the fine restaurant will be above, beside the open kitchen.<br/ <br/ the short weinlist started at £21 and had choices like cuatro rayas verdejo at £28 for a wein that they can find in the high street for £6, mar de frades sparkles albarino nw to £55 for a wein that sells at around £18, and merto tempranillo to £82. since a wein was 120 pounds, it seems bizarre to me not find any vintages. Certainly Spanish weine do not have the same level of vintage variation as more north wine growing areas, but there is certainly variation, and any interest in wein will want to know the vintage that they are about to order. slightly creamier than a classic gazpacho, had this deep tomate aroma, and exactly the correct amount of olive oil, with enough vinegar to balance the oil 14/20.) each element was made beautiful, and the contrast of textures worked well 14/20).<br <br/ service was friendly, and the waiter in the position to ask about eating without answering to the kitchen. in portions were quite generous, and three tapas would be much for a satisfactory meal. with a modest wein and coffee would come a typical bill to about £50 per head. overall I liked hispania. the cooking felt more authentic Spanish than many of the mainstream tapas bars in london, many of which are operated by non-Spaards.) surely the dishes I tried had more care and attention to them than in many london restaurants. I would come back happy and am intrigued to taste the fine restaurant as and when it opens."

"What a stunning fish restaurant! The starter, tempura calamari, was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, complemented by a delicious garlic mayonnaise. For the main course, I had lobster and langoustine—simply divine! The staff was attentively unobtrusive, making the experience even better. I highly recommend the rose petal lemonade for those who prefer non-alcoholic beverages. Overall, I would strongly suggest this restaurant!"

"I made a last-minute reservation for Sunday lunch and I was not disappointed. The Sunday menu offered an impressive selection of starters, mains, and roasts, which was great to see—unlike some places that only serve roast on Sundays. The food was outstanding, featuring a delightful array of roasted vegetables and sides, some of which were unlimited, like potatoes and cauliflower cheese. The staff were exceptional as well, being attentive without being intrusive. I highly recommend this restaurant!"

"Number One is among our top three favorite restaurants, and we were thoroughly impressed by everything. The decor is lively yet sophisticated, blending old-school charm with modern comfort. The food was outstanding, with each dish being incredibly delicious and complex. We opted for the tasting menu with wine pairing, which was a perfect complement to the meal. The service was impeccable, with the staff demonstrating a high level of expertise and coordination. Everyone was knowledgeable about the dishes we were served, making us feel like we were dining at a top-tier restaurant, especially one with a Michelin star. Thank you for providing us with such a special and delightful evening."

"Totally lived up to our expectations. We have been visiting The Shed and this time decide to try another one of their place and happy to say we will come back. Since it’s from the farm to your plate, the produce was top class and the flavours and textures absolutely on point. My favourite dish was the (I’m vegetarian) oyster mushroom and celeriac purée and the leek hearts with honey truffle yogurt. Of the goats cheese and almonds is their classic from The Shed which you must order. We asked for some bread to go with it and that too was warm fresh and with some smoked butter which was sinfulllll. However the vienetta parfait was disappointing but hey .. the food made up for it. Will be going back for the tasting menu next time. Thank you Rabbit "

"As two mummies of young boys (her of two, me of one), Emily and I couldn’t have chosen a better day to plan our overnight escape to Melville Castle, which is located on the Southern tip of Edinburgh towards Dalkeith. The sun was virtually splitting the trees as we drove up the private approach road, and as it happens, trees are something the lush grounds are pretty flush with, the bucolic setting a mere 8 miles from the city centre. A neo-gothic mansion house, it was designed by James Playfair (brother of William) and built between 1786-90 for Henry Dundas, 1st Viscount Melville. By the 1980s the building had been abandoned and was in ruin, later bought and restored in the 1990s by developer William Hay who wanted to bring the property back to life and run it as a hotel venue."

"We have eaten here for at least 16 years or more on our frequent visits to Suffolk. The food is superb and innovative and far surpasses some Michelin restaurants we have eaten at. I require gluten and dairy free food and they always go the extra mile to ensure everything is fine for me. What impresses is that they offer at least 3 desserts catering for my dietary requiements and they are always different and unique. In most places I just get offered vegan ice cream or sorbet we think that the prices charged are very reasonable when you consider the time, the best ingredients and presentation involved. The staff are always very pleasant and helpful. We think it's the best value restaurant in Suffolk."

"My girlfriend and I dined at this restaurant on a Monday evening, which is not typically a busy day. However, we arrived at 6:30pm and it was the last available table! The front of house manager greeted us warmly and handled a small issue with our reservation effortlessly. We were seated in a cozy area and offered drinks while our table was prepared. We quickly received glasses of Prosecco along with the menus, and they asked about any allergies—I mentioned my dairy intolerance which they noted. Soon after, we were led to our table with a beautiful view of the estuary, where our wine was waiting. A lovely amuse bouche and bread (with butter and oil for me) were served to start. My partner enjoyed a sweet potato foam, while I had a smoked salmon and caper dish (dairy-free). Both were delicious. Our smoked mackerel starters were equally delightful, one with a dairy foam and one without. Our main courses arrived in a timely manner and were both beautifully presented—roast cod for me and chicken breast for my partner. The dishes were all delicious. We finished our meal with an Irish coffee and a panna cotta, both of which were superb. Overall, it was an outstanding dining experience with impeccable service. Many Michelin-starred restaurants could take notes from the Old Quay House. We can't wait to return. "Since my last review, I 'vehad another series of stratospheric meals at the Locanda. Last time we went for the classic pasta with genovese sauce, one of the most intense flavour experiences you can imagine, with the deep sweetness from the onion caramelization and umami from the meat; and a new entry, pasta with a cream of peas, superbly fresh and light and Summery, with just the right amount of spicy heat to add a dimension. And for main, another super-classic, the mare nel piatto , full of delights from the sea, and welcome pieces of toasted bread to soak up all the goodness that remains in the soup. We also tried a delicious frittata starter (the mare nel piatto is so large that we had no space for a second main after the pastas! , coming with gazpacho, a stroke of genius by chef Rosario. To conclude, we could only fit two affogati with hazelnut ice-cream, forgoing the other tempting options. Service was led by the extraordinary duo Elena and Raffaele who so much contribute to the unique atmosphere of this place. Prices remain supremely reasonable for the quality (and quantity! , in spite of the cost rise that has affected everybody."

"When we arrived, we tried to make a reservation but couldn't get through by phone. Fortunately, there was no problem getting a table as it was surprisingly quiet for a Friday night. We ordered four venison dishes and two duck dishes, which soon arrived. Unfortunately, all of the venison meals were cold, including the mashed potatoes. We spoke to our waitress about this, and she assured us she would take care of it. The dishes came back, and as we dug in again, we found they were still lukewarm. The venison itself was tougher than I remembered from my previous visit. I mentioned this to our waitress, and in response, we received some complimentary French fries, which the kids loved and were hot—unlike the mashed potatoes. To her credit, the waitress apologized again and mentioned that to make up for the cold venison and mash, she had arranged free desserts for all of us, which was a nice touch. The desserts were delightful; the ice cream profiteroles were a hit with both the kids and the adults. The meal would have easily earned five stars if the main courses had been hot. It’s disappointing because I truly enjoy the location and the home-cooked quality of the food. I hope my experience was just a fluke, but with the current challenges facing restaurants, it's essential to be consistently at your best. Everyone is feeling the pinch these days, and a negative experience could prevent us from returning."

"My boyfriend and I had a wonderful dinner at Laurent. The service was great and we were well looked after, and the food was delicious and beautifully presented. We were impressed by the whole experience, from the decor, the cheesy bread that came before our meal, the cool tower of onion rings and the yummy petit fours that arrived at the end of our meal. We will definitely be going again."

"I can't say I was particularly impressed by the food from the menu, likely due to the season. The escargot were lacking in flavor and firmness, and the garlic butter was more oily than buttery, with an abundance of herbs but very little garlic punch. The gammon steak was excessively salty, while the chips were just okay. On the bright side, my partner enjoyed her mezze. The coffee was good, and the selection of beers was decent. The service was very friendly, and the location and the building itself were beautiful. Additionally, there was some lively dancing with a live DJ, which helped offset the disappointing meal. Perhaps our experience was not as good as that of our friends who dine here more regularly. Overall, the service, ambiance, and music have certainly left us wanting to come back for another visit."

"As we had friends over visiting from the USA we decided to do something different as traditionally English, what better than a visit to the Walled Garden followed by a traditional afternoon tea. We arrived 10 minutes early for our tea and were sat in a lovely atmospheric area near to the library, however over half an hour passed by before we were seated and then another ten minutes before anyone attended to us. What followed was quite a pleasant experience with staff polite if a little slow in dealing and serving us. However we were not necessarily in a rush so we just enjoyed the overall experience. I decided to try the Gentlemen’s Selection but found it underwhelming in parts, the half pork pie was of average quality and appeared shop bought. The rare breed sausage roll was delightful as was the ham hock terrine and piccalilli a piece of toast would have been a nice addition to this element. The most disappointing element was the spice cake, it was dry and unpleasant, my tea guests had the traditional tea and were very pleased with their choice, no complaints at all. Loose leaf tea was something that we all said reminded us of our childhood which is a nice touch. We have decided to return and do it again sometime as it was as I said a very pleasant experience and the library where we sat was a great location. However I would skip the Gentlemen’s Selection and enjoy the Traditional option."
