"We were staying in Porthleven, so booked Kota in advance, as we were aware of this interesting restaurant from previous holidays in Porthleven. We had the six-course dinner menu with the wine pairing, for which my food allergy was well catered for as most dishes were the same as my partner’s. The initial three “snacks” were a delight, as the flavours and textures made them delicious. The second course of BBQ leeks and mussels were an amazing combination of flavour and texture. The third course of beet curds, molasses, and chia seeds was a delightful combination, and I say this as someone who doesn’t really like beetroot. It made the beetroot the sweetest I have ever tasted without overpowering its flavour. The fourth course of brown crab sauce with the seabass was delicious. The fifth course of pork belly with accompaniments was superb. For dessert we had “Milk and Honey”, a white chocolate mousse, Porthleven honey, caramelised milk powder, and soda bread ice cream, which was a wonderful blend of flavours and textures. The wine pairings were very well matched to the dishes. I also appreciated the nicely laundered large linen napkins that we had. The restaurant had a nice ambience, with interesting subtle music which we enjoyed. Our waitresses were very friendly and informative, carefully explaining the dishes and the wines to us upon arrival. The service was excellent. We had a very enjoyable experience, and after this first visit will go back again when next in Porthleven."

Lunch menu is based on small plates. We ordered a number of dishes and they were all tasty and nicely presented. Enjoyed the variety which is mainly seafood. Dinner is set menu with 4 or 6 courses.

Our second visit and this time we went for the tasting menu and wine flight. Excellent food and service. Optional oyster fritter with seaweed tartare is perfection. I could eat 10 and it would still not be enough. We will be back.

Wow! a must when visiting Porthleven. Flavours of the food were wonderful. We had the 4 course menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. Service was very excellent, with very good explanation of dishes. A booking is essential which speaks for itself.

We had an amazing 6 course tasting menu here. Food was interesting with unique flavours, beautifully presented and so fresh and tasty. Not cheap, but we felt fair value for a special meal. Service was good we can’t wait to return next time we are near Porthleven.

I’ve never had Michelin starred tapas before in the U.K. but it was wonderful at Kota Don’t be put off by the slightly tired decor and pub like exterior The food is awesome really stylish inventive and amazingly tasty morsels that alway leave you wanting more It’s quality over quantity which I love Great wine and lovely service too Gastronomy at very realistic prices Loved it

Absolutely stunning, it’s been sometime since I’ve fined dined (don’t get out much) and having worked as a chef for a 2 Michelin I’m quite critical when paying for a meal in a professional way which is part of the experience for me. Kota was recommended by a best friend and I have to say i wasn’t disappointed. Food was absolutely stunning, clever, intricate and tasted amazing. Welcomed by Ellie the restaurant manager, it was such a relaxed atmosphere, casual but very professional. We had the 4 course tasting menu and the oyster fritters to start, scampi will never be enough again after having the fritters. Unbelievable!! Another level! Mackerel donuts were stunning as were all the first cour...

Having seen Jude Kereama cook up a storm on Great British Menu, we thought we'd visit his restaurant in Porthleven. In early October the restaurant was full so book! We opted for the 4 course tasting menu which included an amuse boucle platter of three tasty snacks each (a goats cheese and beetroot mini brioche, a Thai crab wanton esque bite, and a delicious mackerel donut). We also tried the oyster tempura as an extra. All were exquisite. Flavours working in harmony to provide a delicious eating experience. We opted for different starters mine was an excellent Beef Tartare, while my wife hooked into delicious a delicious beetroot, with beetroot curd and molasses. For the mains we both chose...
