"We’re staying in a bungalow 5 mins away on holiday. we phoned it through, it was ready when I got there less then 5 mins. Very quick and polite service. We ordered meal for 2 as it was myself and my mum. We went with the pancake roll. Witch was huge lol. Their was to much food for us both, shame my son doesn’t eat it, but we’re not big eaters although I think it would have done 3 of us. It was very delicious still hot. Would definitely go back again but I think we would order meal for one and share it. Very cheap prices. The only thing mum didn’t like was the curry sauce as she said it was a bit to peppery. Otherwise can’t fault it."

"The food isn’t the best but what concerns me the most is all the children in the window eating noodles and curry , I am not one to complain but they are sat behind the counter and always are there nobody knows where the kids have been and I don’t want them touching my food they’re not the ones with food and hygiene so I don’t see why they should be near the food . I don’t like to complain but it just doesn’t boost my appetite . Many thanks a customer who won’t be returning"

"Tried to make a telephone order. All I got was an answering service. Couldn't place a telephone order so, Idecided to travel to the Takeaway. What a mistake. It is a 10 miloe round trip. When I got there I was told, very abruptly, there was no chance of ordering any food. Not a good experience. The man at the place where yo9u order was very rude, very unhelpfull. Why did I ever bother to drive to this so called Takeaway. I will not be using this place again, I will go to the Nepalise business across the road from disgusting Hong Kong Island Takeaway. Why can people not be helpful and explain why I could not order food from the Honk Kong Island Takeaway? They have an answering service on their telephone but, I was toldthey just do not answer any messages left for them. WHY IS THIS SO?"

"Had dinner here with my mum and dad for the first time in a few years. Had a lovely meal!! Such a friendly place. We used to come here in the 1970s every week when I was a child, and I have such lovely memories of fantastic dinners here. Fast forward 40+ years, and I was visiting my parents and thought, “where to for dinner”? So we went to The Swan. Such a friendly welcome, and such nice people. I’m sure they’re different staff from the 1970s !!! but just as friendly, and the welcome was just as warm, and the dinner just as nice. Reasonably priced, too, still. We had a lovely dinner, and a lovely trip down memory Lane. Thanks The Swan a memorable evening. We’ll see you again very soon !!"

"First visit after recommendation. Friday night five fifteen, horrendous parking. Everybody using chippie next door. Disabled access a bit limited but owner arranged to move tables to allow better access for daughters walking frame. Comprehensive menu. Bit pricy but what’s not nowadays? Order barbecue ribs....Very hot on arrival bit burnt but tasty. Prawn ginger spring onion/ chicken veg and chicken sweet corn soup. Boiled rice. All reasonably portioned. Not too big for our appetites. Wet hot towels napkins and chopsticks if reg’d. Overall impressed def go again."

"waited 1 and half an hour for cold eating to supply I my ice cold not only cold hot. took cold eating back to the restaurant where I was told I would have microwave it worth eating £30 that I should warm. to myself. a freshly cooked order was offered in 10 minutes. I came home with my freshly cooked meal! to find it, the returned meal was only microshaft. After waiting for me to eat for 2 hours, I starved and just ate twice cooked, let us hope I won't get sick). after all this waiting around and rude service from the restaurant was eating absolutely disgusting bland soggy and tasteless. would never come back and warn that no one from here cannot order."

"Ordered a takeaway from Mayflower for the first time today. The owner and his wife were very kind and helped me pick dishes which would satisfy everyone's tastes waiting back home. I was staring at the menu for a wee while. The food kung po chicken, sweet and sour chicken balls, special fried rice, mini spring rolls and beef, black bean and pepper was delicious. "the menu takeaway offers a good choice to align. there should be something to please everyone. hot and spicy dishes are displayed on the menu. most products tried were delicious and good value. portions are generously dimensioned and suitable for sharing. create their own Chinese banquet. the employees are very fast, but sometimes it is necessary to wait in the line. if they can't wait, they can call in their order and collect them from the shop. Note: sponges are only right thing! they do not accept credit cards/debit cards."

"I Visited this take away on fri 21st April Apon entering this takeaway restaurant you are greated by a lovely lady who was very friendly and knowledgeable about what they sale. This is a small step up into the restaurant which may pose a issue for those with mobility issues. But when you do go through the front door you are met with a large waiting area which is clean and presentable, you also get a lovely smell that sets your taste buds tingerling. I ordered the mixed hors d'oeuvres, chicken chow mein, sweet and sour chicken balls and special fried rice. All for a little over £20 which is exceptionally well priced within the current climate of price rises. You can tell that the food is freshly cooked and when you taste the food it certainly confirms the freshness. The portion size where large and certainly left me very full. Overall I have to recommend this Chinese restaurant and I will definitely be going back again for more. And to the restaurant I thank you for a lovely meal."

"I work nearby and Bamboo Garden was highly recommended by so many colleagues over the years that I decided to give it a try (firstly in 2017). Recounting that day, it was also suggested I order a particular dish on the menu, T8 (the Cantonese special rice). So off we went, no queue to order but delivery drivers were in and out, which is usually a good sign! I placed my order with May, a very friendly lady at the front, who I, (like many of my colleagues) became well acquainted with in later years! The price of the dish and a can of coke came to about £7.60, excellent value for money. The food was made to order and cooked fresh, we only waited about 10 minutes. The food itself was superb, and a generous portion for one. I'd never had all these flavours in one go before: succulent cuts of pork, chicken, and juicy king prawns, in a delicious sauce with stirfried veg and white rice definitely special! I haven't been able to find anything else similar anywhere else! I have been working from home a lot since covid hit, so I haven't visited recently, but having just glanced at the menu I see it is now under new management. I will be popping into the office this week though, so fingers crossed they still serve the special Cantonese rice!"

"By far the best tasting Chinese in our area! We’ve been to them all, including our home town Tywyn and I would absolutely, hands down, travel the 50 minute round trip every time to buy from The China Garden and we’ve been here 30+ times! Always tasty, always still hot despite the travelling, good quality chicken and other ingredients .. surprisingly still good value for money considering the current climate. Chicken chow mein and the garlic chicken and onions is just super yummy. If you’re visiting, you seriously won’t find a better Chinese takeaway for an hours drive around .. "I recently picked up food from this restaurant, ordering a Chinese curry with rice, chips, and a chicken chow mein. Unfortunately, the chow mein had dry noodles with a stale taste, and the chicken curry had a strange, congealed texture that tasted like washing up liquid. The chips seemed to be a mix of fresh and old ones, with odd bits like what seemed to be pieces of an onion ring. Overall, I was extremely disappointed and ended up throwing away the entire meal. I wasted £20 and learned my lesson to never order from here again. Hopefully, this review will help others avoid wasting their money as well."

"First time I’ve looked on trip advisor for Peking Garden, am very surprised at the negative reviews. Me and my family have got take away from here since moving to Hastings from London over 8 years ago. Always happy with our orders, very tasty and never greasy. Salt n pepper ribs, phoenix prawns, won ton soup and chair Sui rice to name a few are the best take away Chinese we’ve had. They work ****** hard, it’s authentic and the service/ delivery is excellent."

"not great, visited as a family of 16 booked prior so was expecting us. Staff was very rude kept telling me she was too busy when i asked her for my child 's starter id paid for and was told someone else on my table must have eaten it (they didn 't). starter never came and was still charged for this, staff refused to believe she didn 't recieve this despite her not having it in front of her. We went the all you can eat sunday menu was never offered more food and asked for more mixed starter as my daughter and son was starving at this point and was made to look like an effort despite again paying for this service. Waited over half an hour for the mains after this and when asked they asked 'oh do you want your mains now ' we never asked for a break? all food was served 2 chips was forgotten, a portion of noodles and 4 portions of rice! they brought these out promptly when noticed then forgot my main beef in black bean. by the time this was recieved my sides was freezing and the beef was rock hard. We all gave up at this point as they wasn 't listening to the complaints. paid the bill of 260!!!! and left. Waste of money and awful service. wouldn 't recommend if in a huge group. Not very child friendly either."

"Ordered via Just Eat. Over an hour to arrive. Ordered Duck with pancakes, cold and 5 pancakes, sauce clearly came straight from a fridge. Chicken and cashew had no sauce, chicken was inedible as tough and because the egg fried rice was not delivered, ordered again and then 20 minutes later got plain rice which was cold and smelt off. Called the restaurant direct and was told ‘if you didn’t like it don’t order with us again’ Apparently waiting for a refund. May be environmental health should be informed about their delivery process?"

"*Updated June 10th to 5 stars. I ordered again (we're decorating the kitchen, so there was no food in the house), and the food was amazing! The chow mein was beautiful, and the sweet and sour chicken was absolutely delicious. I would order from here over and over again! It has definitely become our new favorite takeaway. Customer service is also excellent. I'm really happy that the sweet and sour sauce was much better this time; it was lovely!"

"i went here today for the first time as my friend recommended it. i was pleasantly surprised. i had a curry from the lunchtime menu. it was very tastay and a very generous portion for 3.30, and it included a can of juice. it is a very big portion for lunch, it is deceiving, because it was in one dish with the rice too, so it does not look a lot, but i could not finish it. i will definitely be going back again. the shop is quite small, but it seems clean and tidy, the staff were pleasant. they do home deliveries and you can phone in your order and it will be ready to collect. overall i would recommend it."

"Very happy with this fish and chips. It had 1 and a half fillets which is pretty great when you're knackered after a hike! A portion was £7.20 which is cheap compared to where I live in Edinburgh. "We discovered this restaurant through the local community Facebook page and it came highly recommended. It definitely lived up to the hype. The portions are generous and the flavors are perfect. The Mongolian style dish with special sauce was a pleasant surprise and the black bean sauce had just the right combination of flavors and spice, complementing both the mixed vegetables and chicken. The Szechuan spicy tofu was a standout for me. This restaurant has earned a spot on our list of favorites."
