"Lovely lunch, although it would have been nice to be told what veg we would be given, as my partner didn't like red cabbage. I did not want to say anything and embarrass anyone. My lamb was delicious and his mixed roast was good too. Service excellent. The only thing was it was quite dark in the restaurant. Think it was an old building. Will go back."

"I booked a table for 7 people at 7pm online. I received instant online confirmation as well as an email to confirm our booking. When we arrived the staff said they had no record of the booking. The restaurant was only half full so they were able to seat us anyway. It was a Sunday and we had primarily chosen the venue as their Sunday roast sounded good and was served until 9pm. As we sat down we were told they had run out of Yorkshire puddings. Within 10 minutes they came and took the Sunday menu away and said it was now unavailable but we could still order from the standard menu. My mother in law asked if it was possible to swap chips for mashed potatoes with the pie and was told no, the mashed potato portions were already allocated to other meals. At this point we left. The staff did try and seemed sympathetic but were annoyed when we left as they had poured out a couple of the drinks order. The restaurant looked like a good place it was a nice setting but the menu was expensive and other diners could be heard complaining they had been waiting a long time even though they weren't busy. We were understandably really disappointed with the whole experience."

"The restaurant offers a spacious and friendly atmosphere and the food is generally good, except for the overpriced and bland Miso Caesar salad. Despite being acceptable on its own, it lacked flavor and ingredients for its high price of £15.70. Some diners suggested it would be better as a starter or side dish, rather than a main course. Overall, a great dining experience except for this dish."

"this was our first time at Reid’s. eating was really nice, steak was slightly underboiled (for medium rare, but less rare). my cocktail came after our starters arrived. I had to ask twice for the cocktail. the service was really poor, had to ask twice for the drink. when our head arrived, they forgot the garlic bread, so we had to ask and also had to ask for steak knives. the waiter didn't seem really interested. there were 3 large groups, however, so that we gave them the advantage of the doubt. not sure we're coming back."

"This restaurant was decorated beautifully. The staff were excellent. I ordered the battered fish, chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. However although the fish looked good and the batter was excellent the fish just tasted of nothing. I know my fish and would have got more taste from a Birdseye fishfinger. My friend enjoyed her fish cakes but I was really disappointed. I didn’t complain because if that’s the fish they use another piece would have tasted the same. Pity as I would loved to have enjoyed it.."

"I have been here before with my family to celebrate a birthday and we could not fault a thing. Decided to treat my friend to a meal out and again the food and service were excellent. The only down side to this visit was that we had a early booking and the restaurant was cold. By the time we left the room had started to fill up and was a bit warmer."

"excellent service. very personal service by the recipeist and restaurant nafiza, which was efficient and friendly. the food was super, fresh and well cooked. the restaurant and the bar and other facilities are excellent. the ground for 3 stars for ambiente, however, is the restaurant lighting too bright and there should be background music. the conversation with others was very audible. Low-level music helps mask talks and more so forces people to talk calmer. the lighting did not help as it was at full brightness level, so it was not relaxed and other guests thought they were at home and talked very loud. I hope that this can be fixed, as this is very slight excitement, but the restaurant will transform. we are coming back to the final."

"What a wonderful time we had. It was my partners birthday which the staff did not until after we arrived but they produced a small cake with a candle. We were offered seconds of beef and Yorkshire puddings and cheese to follow our dessert. The meal was delicious, the staff achieved a perfect balance between attentiveness and not being pushy, the wine was excellent and the surroundings were so comfortable and relaxed. We will definitely be back. Many, many thanks."

"I visited De Rougemont Manor on Wednesday the 28th of February for Afternoon Tea to celebrate my mum and aunts birthday. When the food was presented to us the crisps to me looked as if they had either been broken or it was at the end of the packet some of the sandwiches were dry and also the cakes had dried out from where I believe they had been cut too early. As a party of five adults and two children we had to keep asking for refills (cheese, jam etc) as we wasn't asked if we needed anything else, we was never asked once if we needed our tea or coffee replenished. I appreciate it may of been short staffed that day due to the weather (it was snowing on and off) as there only seemed to be one member of staff working in the bar/restaurant. I feel really disappointed that the day was ruined by this as it was meant to be a nice get together for joint birthday celebrations. Also I have contacted the hotel and have not had any response back from them which again is awful customer service. All in all I will not be returning unless things are thoroughly improved and what should of been a lovely day celebrating was not."

At this point, we decided to leave. The staff did make an effort and seemed understanding, but appeared annoyed when we left since they had already started on a few drinks. The restaurant appeared nice and had a good atmosphere, but the menu was on the pricier side. Other diners were also heard complaining about long wait times even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. Overall, we were extremely disappointed with the entire experience."

"Fantastic meal at Headlam Hall Hotel. Both my wife and I really enjoyed our meals. The Orangery dining room is a lovely backdrop for the food that was well presented, exceptionally tasty and, unlike many meals out these days, well portioned. The menu certainly lives up to the claim of Modern British cooking using locally sourced ingredients. My Tandoori lamb scotch egg starter was very flavoursome, a great combination... and even had a runny yolk! Both mains (belly pork/fillet of beef) tasted great, and the meats were succulent. My chocolate cheesecake was to die for, and Vanessa's Baked Parkin, salted caramel sauce, brandy snap and black treacle ice cream was a very clever and harmonious combination of flavours. Service was efficient and friendly but not over-obtrusive. All in all, it was one of the best meals we have had in a long time. Thank you."

"We were visiting the area and this was our local pub. The menu is really nice and got off to a great start with really nice starters and good wine. We both ordered different steaks, and unfortunately both were overcooked. We sent them back with no bother, and to be fair to the staff, they didn't charge us for any of the wine we had that evening to apologise for the mistake. Problem was that the steaks were still over-cooked 2nd time round too, but we didn't say anything. Also worth being aware there didn't seem to be a drinks-only part to this pub, it was just a restaurant inside, so nowhere really to relax pre/post dinner. Young staff members were a bit too keen and needed to listen/slow down a little! So, it was alright, I might give it another go, but with so many other great options in the area i'm not sure I would really!"

"Shame this place was half empty on a World Cup match night perhaps it has to do with the fact the music is so loud (before and after) you can’t even chat…. Even when we asked (with the pub empty). Perhaps if they remembered they were not a club and acted like a pub more people would come and spend some time enjoying a PUB ENVIRONMENT."

"Generally lacking in ambience; landlady unsmiling. Decor drab grey, poor lighting. Tables need flowers or candles. No bread offered, had to ask. Service slow, even though only three tables occupied. A diner on next table said hats off to the chef, he/she has managed to cook a Sunday lunch and removed all the taste . We agree. Vegetables clearly came from freezer, at a time when the whole country is knee deep in wonderful fresh produce! Gravy, a sort of orange colour, was packet, no use of meat juices to add flavour. Overall, a sad little pub appearing to be a bit tired with staff going through the motions. Not sure why they 've added the phrase 'wine bar ', which it really isn 't!"

"Well 8 of use went four dinner well was quick to take a order 35 mins to get mains then 20 mins to remove plates then 30 mins plus for puddings trouble is someone order a coffee and small pud coffee came then waited 25 mins for the pudding for it then waited nearly 50 mins to pay the bill and then the bill turns up and you have the nerve to add on 15 percent service charge bit cheeky when you charge a fortune for food"

"Met friends for a late lunch, so it was fairly quiet but still a nice atmosphere in the bar. We shared 2 starters between 4 of us (baked Camembert and the ravioli), then the mains were cheeseburger, chicken club sandwich, chicken Kyiv and the flat iron steak. All food was well cooked and presented and tasted great. Service was quite slow, as we weren’t in a rush that was absolutely fine for us but if you are watching the clock you might find that a little frustrating. Would definitely return"

"I had a wonderful celebrity dinner tonight. the restaurant is nice and cozy inside, with tables well spread. there are real white table clothing that feels just that something more special. for each cursor there was a 3-course menu for £34 with about 5 choices. the smoked salmon starter was delicious and I understand that the cheese cake was also very delicious! we had the fish and beef main and both were a good portion size and delicious. dessert was also pleasant. with our coffee, which was a nice note, we got beautiful little brotbiscuits. I received a beautiful birthday card in the restaurant, which was a very beautiful geste! the waitresses were all beautiful and the service was good. we hope to go back to try out their champagne breakfast sometime! would recommend a nice, well-priced meal in a beautiful place."

"It was a last minute decision to visit this pub, although we had been there before, but sometime ago. We was welcomed warmly, shown to a table and given the menu. There was an excellent choice of dishes, from the light to the sumptuous steak meals. My wife and myself both opted for the Duck Margret with potato gratin, with asparagus and a blackberry and black currant jus. Which was a chef's special OMG, This was, and my wife agreed, was absolutely one of the best plates of food we had ever eaten!! Yes, it was that good!!, Dessert was New York cheesecake for me apple and rhubarb crumble with rhubarb clotted cream ice cream, for my wife. Good selection of coffee to finish. Great old pub lovely garden, where we sat, lovely, friendly and polite staff, we will definitely be going back, Highly recommended"

"This restaurant boasts a great location, convenient parking, and hearty portion sizes, making it a promising choice. However, vegetarians and chicken lovers may find their options somewhat limited. While the space can feel a bit tight for larger groups, the cozy atmosphere and adequate seating are definitely positives. The friendly staff enhances the dining experience, although there is still some room for improvement in service. With an average cost of £20 to £35 per person for a starter, main course, and drink, I’m definitely looking forward to coming back in the future. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4"
