"We were on a short break in Thirsk in late September and looked for a pub that did food. We walked into the Black Lion and were immediately given a very friendly welcome by the landlord/owner and the locals already in there. We spotted some people with what looked like nice meals at the back so asked if we could have a drink first and then have something to eat. Of course! was the reply. When I mentioned that the lady in our party needed a bright table because of an eye problem, the locals, immediately, without being asked, got up from a brightly lit round table in the window and guided us to it. Our drinks were delivered to the table as soon as we were ready for another round, and then when our meals arrived, the food was lovely. The landlord had put us on a tab when we arrived and when we paid at the end of the evening, the cost was very reasonable. The landlord had even sent someone to the local shop to get orange juice, because they had run out, for one of our drinks. The beer was really nice as well. We were that impressed that we booked for the next night, and when we arrived they had set out the same brightly lit table in the window for us. Very nice thank you. We again had some more rounds of their delicious beers, and then a very nice meal again. All in all a great duo of nights. We will return to Thirsk and will definitely visit the Black Lion again."

"Stopped for a cream tea which the wife enjoyed. Usual 2 scones provided with jam and clotted cream and a good pot of tea. They normally do Gluten Free cream tea but due to high demand had sold out of GF scones. They were however able to supply GF cheese scones so I had a savoury version of cream tea, 2 GF cheese scones, a tomato chutney and a cream cheese. Was very nice and would recommend."

"So firstly I want to thank the waiting staff and the host, they were superb and very attentive. What did let the experience down of our festive Christmas 3 course lunch, was sadly the food at £20.50 per person it does represent good value for money however as you can see the presentation and quality of the food served in our opinion was woeful. The Prawn cocktail starter was just terrible with zero thought or care given to the items on the plate. Our Main course was brought out and we had ordered 3 Turkey Christmas lunches but we got 3 portions of Salmon ! So that had to be sent back, when the correct food was eventually brought out it was effectively ruined by the over seasoned and way too salty Beef yes Beef gravy that was liberally doused all over the food. Put the gravy into a gravy jug and let your customers decide how much if any gravy they want. Now don't get me wrong as a Rochdale lad I absolutely love gravy but this was even for me, way too salty and clearly made with beef stock. When this was pointed out to the server she did send feedback to the kitchen but they swore blind it was turkey gravy . Our desserts of Christmas pudding were very nice and in fact this was the highlight of the whole meal. I would have gladly paid more for this supposedly special meal and we expected more from this establishment. If you are attending on Christmas Day for the same menu that is priced at £105 per person I wish you the best of luck !"

"We popped in for a quick drink. The Upper Deck gave us a fantastic view of the estuary. The staff were excellent at finding us a table with our dog at a very busy time. Will be back for sure. The prices were reasonable given the location."

"I absolutely adore this restaurant - I have yet to have a disappointing meal. The service is consistently fantastic. I haven't tried the Sunday lunch yet, but I plan to very soon. The price per person is around £20-30. I would rate the food, service, and atmosphere all a perfect 5 out of 5."

"Finding this place after a long day of cycling was a real jackpot! We weren't aware they had a separate vegan menu, so I simply asked to omit some ingredients on our pizza for sweetness. A very friendly staff member informed me that as a vegan, I could have it made exactly as I requested, plus add vegan cheese or even choose from their vegan menu! They prepared it just as I asked, and I wasn't charged anything extra. In fact, I ended up getting a discount and a key ring as well. We decided to take the pizzas to the beach because we didn't feel comfortable sitting inside after our day out. The place had a cozy vibe, and I really hope to return someday."

"I attended the cafe on my own, the welcome was so warming and friendly, the aesthetic of this cafe is so calming I enjoyed looking around at all the stuff on the walls service was fast and easy I had my coffee and toastie in good time after ordering. The ice coffee was unreal I would recommend trying the ice coffee with roasted hazelnut syrup ! Amazing portion sizes for such a good price. My Ham and cheese toasted on brown seeded bread was unreal it is not over complicated just what you want. The salad on the side was refreshing I usual don’t touch salad and not bothered with it but it was finished before my toastie the cafe filled up quickly and the men worked so hard and well together to get orders out, I loved this beautiful cafe and will have to visit again !! "My partner and I called in here for a bite to eat last Monday on my way back from Belfast. If there was a spot for no stars, that is what I would give this place. I wantedd to complain but my partner told me not to as he didn't want to make a scene. Im so sorry I didn't now. I ordered chicken goujons and garlic, and he had the pitta chicken. His chicken was like charred rubber it was so overcooked. My meal was like a plate of grease. The goujonsweres just pure grease on a plate. I scraped the batter off and tried to eat the chicke, but it was like goo. The garlic fries were in a bowl of grease. The young waiter who lifted the plates just did that and no more. We were never offered desserts, notthat wee would have taken any anyway. The other staff were just cleaning around us as if to say it's leaving time. It's very rude to be brushing up floors and spraying tables in a clean u in front of customers. Would most definitely never go near this place again. called in here for a bite to eat last Monday o my way back from Belfast. If there was a spot for no stars, thatt is what I would give this place. "This charming neighborhood pub is a must-visit. We stopped in multiple times during our holiday and were always greeted by friendly and hospitable staff. The menu offers a variety of delicious options, including a tasty Chickpea, sweet potato, and spinach curry that I particularly enjoyed. The Sunday lunch, while not a carvery, is still fantastic and you can opt for a smaller portion if you prefer. The selection of beers and wines is impressive and reasonably priced. Overall, a visit to this pub is definitely worth it if you're in the area. Food: 5 stars."

"Food was not as expected My wife’s Sticky chicken was dry and tough (obviously reheated) so when she pointed this out politely and without making a fuss was promptly offered an alternative which she declined because that’s what she ordered and it should have been worth eating in the first place ! I must point out that the the lady serving was very nice and apologetic however was less impressed with the response from the person who gave us the bill who when I questioned about paying full price for that meal was promptly reminded that my wife refused a replacement and should have requested a price reduction before she printed off the bill and in full earshot of other diners which we didn’t appreciate ! However the bill was adjusted and we left the restaurant with the opinion that we would now not choose to return. Such a shame because it’s a lovely old restaurant with plenty of character and we’d eaten there before on our last holiday to Looe Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £60–70 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 2"

"I have eaten at DaVinci multiple times over the years. My experiences have always been consistently excellent - the food and service are top-notch. The meals are delicious, high-quality, and leave me feeling satisfied every time. While there are fancier dining options available, DaVinci always provides great value for the quality of food they offer. Overall, I would rate the service and food a 5, and the atmosphere a 4. "We are currently staying in a lodge nearby and decided to visit Luss in the mid-morning. After walking around the area, we stopped in for a bite to eat and a drink. A nice bonus was that it was dog-friendly! We ordered two Scottish breakfasts, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The staff were very welcoming and even offered our dog some treats and water without us having to ask. I would recommend this place to anyone passing through, and we would definitely visit again. Service: Dine-in."

"As everything shuts early on Sunday nights (same for Mondays) we came for an early dinner. I hadn’t had lunch too long ago so I decided to have two sides, the shrimp and cheese dippers. My partner had a bbq stack burger with chips. The shrimp and cheese dippers were nice and I liked the sauces. They didn’t have milkshakes and we wanted a sundae but they were out of ice cream which was disappointing. It was quite pricey but maybe other places are cheap. I don’t run a business so it’s hard for me to judge. Updated from previous review on 2022-09-05"

"Booked fish and chips twice, £28, for 5pm, no confermation email so had to go in and check order received, arrived to collect meal at 5 and ended up waiting 10 minutes while the meal was cooked, so booking for 5 was a waist of time. The fish was not quite cooked as some of the batter was still runny, and the chips were cut so thin that they were crispy but had no content, good way to save money on potatos. The fish and chips came with mint and pea humans, not great and tartar sauce, nice, also jars of ketchup from Essex and mayo, not required and very waistful. All in all for £28 not value for money or a great experience and would not recommend it, for the price."

"The finest Greek cuisine in the countryside! The service is exceptional, the staff is welcoming, and the portion sizes are generous—all at great prices. Whenever we're craving Greek food, we always choose Commercial Winds. The flavors are outstanding, and the dining experience is delightful. While takeout is nearly as good as dining in, it simply can't compare to the fantastic atmosphere created by the owner and staff at this wonderful gem of a restaurant. It's easy to overlook this hidden treasure, but don't let that happen!"

"Lovely evening, good food, great service! Couldn't fault the service, staff were friendly and there to help without being over your shoulder. They kindly offered to move us when things got a bit loud rowdy (it was Friday night) to a quieter spot thank you! Would definitely go again. Food drinks: I ordered the pie and chips, the pie was huge, the filling could have easily been a third less than it was. Very tasty just couldn't eat it all. Good wine beer selection."

"I recently enjoyed a fantastic lunch at Pots of Pleasure and the experience was nothing short of delightful. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance was warm, and the service was impeccable. The menu offered a diverse range of delectable options, and each bite was a burst of flavours, leaving a lasting impression. To add to the joy of the day, I picked up a present from the shop, and the meticulous gift-wrapping caught my eye. The attention to detail in the wrapping was as impressive as the diverse selection of items in the store. It turned a simple purchase into a special moment, and the recipient was genuinely thrilled. In conclusion, the fantastic lunch at Pots of Pleasure and the beautifully wrapped present from the shop made for a memorable day. Whether you're looking for a culinary treat or a thoughtful gift, this experience is a testament to the exceptional quality and care that both the cafe and the shop bring to their offerings. Highly recommended for those seeking a perfect blend of culinary delights and thoughtful surprises. Thank you Mark, your café is one of the best I've ever been to."

"Had been recommended but was disappointed with the experience. Had a bit of a cafe feel to the restaurant but on the whole, atmosphere was ok. Ordered a couple of Ribeye steaks. £29 per steak which is fine if the meat is exceptional quality but it was distinctly average, slightly chewy and not enough fat through the middle of the steak for a ribeye. The chips however, were really really good! Bottle of red was very average. Sticky toffee pudding for dessert was underwhelming and dry. Service was below par and not friendly. For the price paid you would expect much more and then had the cheek to add on a 10% service charge. Overall, definitely not worth the expensive prices."

"The staff at this restaurant is extremely friendly and the fish tea is excellent. We dined in for lunch and the price per person was between £10 and £20.
