"Good to see that following the refurbishment that this still is a pub that caters for drinkers but also provides very good food in the conservatory with tables for dining in the main part of the building. Starters were beef croquettes, feta and filo and calamari. I was worried that the calamari might have been frozen rings but it was a large piece of breaded squid with a sauce and side salad. Could have done with a crispy coating but nonetheless was very good. Mains were smoked haddock fillet with a crispy breadcrumbed poached egg, lambs liver and a flat iron steak. All the meals were excellent. There still is a good variety of beers, lagers and cider could do with a dry cider. Staff were friendly and engaging. We had an enjoyable meal and recommend eating here."

Food was really good, very disappointed on drinks, a brandy £8.50 with dash of lemonade £3, so £11.50 in total for 1 drink, our other drinks reasonable prices

Nice to see the place has had a facelift. Menu disappointing, doesn’t have so many dishes as with the previous owners. The food we had was good, perhaps more choices will appear in time.

After its recent renovation the acoustics are terrible. You can barely hear the person at next to you at the tables. New (young) staff have a lot to learn about providing a professional table service.

We have visited twice since the refurb and are very impressed. Both times we went there were 4 of us and we all had different meals. We all enjoyed the food. The staff have been most helpful and really pleasant. We will be back again soon. View menu

Walking from Bristol to Bath and we came across this pub when we were fancying a drink. A friendly welcome, good real ale and cider. Got the munchies and ordered a baguette and a side of chips and salad..... Delicious. Thanks for your warm and welcoming hospitality.

Have been before a year ago and the food has been mediocre but last weekend the new birds nest at the bottom of the car park is perfect for some evening sun with a beer. Lots of bike lock up space. Just would be nice for some of the seats to have backs/something to lean on.

Had a cracking Sunday lunch here yesterday! I believe it's been taken over what an improvement in the food etc since we were last here visiting relatives a few years ago. 11/10 for value for money I'll definitely be returning asap! Was a well cooked tasty meal ... well done!! View menu

Our ‘new’ Bird is super! The new interior is very inviting as were the very friendly but professional staff. Our meal was very good; a good few notches up from pub grub without being too fussy for our local. Theres a good balance on the menu for all tastes I would say at a fair price.

After completing a half marathon along the railway path, we found ourselves at this pub. The menu was quite adventurous, featuring dishes such as potted smoked mackerel and excellent whitebait. We also enjoyed their substantial chips. Our midweek lunch here was delightful, served by a team of young, amiable, and efficient staff. Kudos to BIH for earning a 5/5 from us. During a spontaneous stop on our walk from Bristol to Bath, we were warmly welcomed by the bar team. Overall, it was a great discovery and definitely a place we’d consider revisiting.

"Visited here in Sept 23 for an executive dinner that we were hosting for various senior business leaders. We booked out the whole venue, which was the perfect size and atmosphere for the intimate and exclusive feel that we wanted, plus a convenient location. The TV that shows into the kitchen was fascinating, and the record player was put to use towards the end of the evening! Caroline from the venue helped us organise the event in advance and was great to deal with. We were fortunate with the weather so were able to enjoy a welcome drinks reception out the front of the venue, and have the door open all evening to let the balmy night in. We had the 7 course taster menu and it was simply OUTSTANDING so many of our guests commented on how delicious it was, particularly the beef steak course! It was so tasty that I even enjoyed the fish dish (not usual for me! . Service on the night was exemplary, the courses were brought out at just the right intervals so you weren't waiting ages but also not being rushed. The chef came out to greet us after the final course, which was a lovely touch and meant we could thank him. Overall, we had really great feedback from our guests, everyone loved it thank you for making our event such a success! We would definitely book again, and I know a few of our guests have already recommended it to their own companies for executive dinners! Would not hesitate to recommend."
