"Oh no, I was really disappointed with this place. I went on a Friday night after a tube delay made me too late to attend the theatre, where I had tickets."

"I'm sad to write this but we didn't have a great lunch and had been so looking forward to it. My husband took me for my birthday. First off, the restaurant was freezing cold so not a nice environment. It was a cold day so we kinda forgave it. Ordered Oysters then each a starter and a main. My starter arrived along with the oysters so we thought that was odd but when my husbands starter didn't arrive it was clear they thought the oysters were his starter and had forgotten his actual one so a quick apology and he got it. Artichoke and anchovy salad, good god it was disgusting swimming in olive oil. I told him to return it but he was too polite and hungry by this point. The mains were just okay, I had pheasant which I understand is small but I did eat more plums and prunes than anything else. My husband had the pork which he said was, again, okay. Dessert was delicious shared a sticky toffee pudding. Our wine was also very good and the sommelier was excellent, shame the waiter didn't know about wine and tipped the rest of the bottle into my glass along with all the sediment. The bill was eye watering. Not a great experience, sadly won't be back and have already told people to save their money. Sorry!"

"The restaurant itself could use some updates. The carpet was old and stained, and there were food splatters on the walls. Additionally, I noticed a food hygiene rating of 4 prominently displayed on the main window, but the details on the back dated back to 2015. According to the food hygiene ratings app on my phone, they actually had a rating of 2. This is something most people wouldn't notice unless they had experience working with a local council. I genuinely hope they improve their food standards and renovate the restaurant to create a more inviting atmosphere."

"My spouse and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary at this restaurant. The attentive staff went above and beyond to make our evening special. We indulged in some pricey Laurent Perrier Rose champagne before our starters, and enjoyed a lovely Sancerre wine with our Lobster Wellington. For dessert, we shared a delicious raspberry and meringue treat. The atmosphere was very relaxed, set in a stunning hotel."

"We are from Los Angeles visiting relatives and we booked a High Tea. Initially, we were served with nice friendly service as we sat down and placed our order. After that not one server even came back to ask if we needed refill with teas or water. While the three tables around were served with three times and they are all Caucasians. We are Asians. Please tell me there is no discrimination here in UK. Even after I had to flag down a server and her mannerisms were not quite friendly. This gave me a very bad impression with a restaurant like this."

"This was not our first visit, so we were disappointed on this occasion. Whilst the waiting staff took account of food intolerances when taking our order, the kitchen made a number of small mistakes which, had the intolerances been full-blown allergies, could have caused problems. Both the steak and the venison we found to be on the tough side and not of the quality that we would expect from Orestone Manor."

"Came across this pub by accident when we got diverterted off the A47 during lunch time. Looks very inviting from outside, massive garden. Inside very welcoming, traditional looking pub with fireplace and beams. Lots of choice on the menu, with specials on offer. Staff were very, very friendly, explaining soup of the day and the days daily fish catch available. Large choice of beers available, lots of tables in bar and restaurant area. More than happy for our two dogs in the bar area and made us all feel very welcome. Food was fantastic with large portions I'm glad we didn't opt for a starter, but from what we saw, they looked fabulous) Very big piece of fresh tasting fish, lots of scampi, chips were perfect. Could not fault anything about the pub, food, service, everything was to very high standard, quite glad we got lost really, well worth the additional miles, highly recommended. Service: 5 Location: 5"

"The waiter whose name I forget was incredibly friendly but the food took an age to come and was cold. The sides were mixed up. The waiter tried his best but I felt some of the orders were ready long before others hence the reason some dishes were cold. I asked for fresh hot chips and got piping hot chips in a very short time. It was a family birthday and he made a huge fuss and organised a brownie with a candle. As I say he took great pride in his work and solved problems made by the background staff."

"When I had eaten several times in the shepherd and dog, I was very disappointed last Wednesday. we waited at least 20 minutes for someone to pick up our order, and it was almost an hour when we had set ourselves until we got to eat. we chose from the a la carte menu where past eating was excellent, but on Wednesday the appetizers and main course were very mediocre. nothing like taste, presentation and quality at previous visits. the only saving gnade was the sharing gloomy. we stayed at least one more hour at the table talk and the desert plates and coffee saucers were just left and not removed. my friends and I have often visited for special occasions, but at £40 per head for a midday week without wine we expect better service and eat."

"Had a wonderful lunch with friends in La Maison , this was our second visit in the past few months and both highly enjoyable . The food was fabulous , I had the cod which was perfectly cooked . Crème Brûlée was delicious . Service impeccable. And the rooms are cosy and comfortable. The location on Castle Market is excellent , outdoor tables would be perfect if the weather is behaving . Highly recommend"

"Lovely place, outside area is really welcoming and perfect for warmer days. Staff is lovely and place was full enough not crowded. There was some lovely guy welcoming us at the bar and getting our orders so we got them delivered at the table, you don't see that everywhere Lovely place!"

"We were staying with relatives for the weekend and this is there favourite restaurant. Lovely food, service and staff. It was very busy, so it was quite noisy, but that didn't spoil our visit. We would go again. :"

"Booked a table for a birthday meal, and was over the moon with the evening. The Dukes allowed us to use decorations free of charge and even helped set up a little table for presents and cakes! The food was just right, and the customer service throughout the night was top notch plenty of smiles enjoyable conversation. A massive thank you to Andy and the team on shift for a fantastic evening!"
"We love coming to the Boat, not only is it local but it has good food. Unfortunately I am sure through no fault of their own the prices have rocketed since New Year, £9.50 for a pudding. We had a glasss wine each (two of us) main meal, pudding and coffee which came to £95, which is rather a lot of a country pub. They also appeared to be short staffed, which was shame as I did want a glass of red wine with my meal, but no one was around to ask, we weren't asked if the meal was ok and felt rather un loved ! We would love to keep coming here as we love the pub and the owners, but the prices are now to high for us."

"This is an absolutely stunning restaurant with attentive staff and delightful cuisine. I highly recommend the jambalaya; it's fantastic! There are great seating options for both groups and couples. My partner, who is a chef, ordered the chicken and praised both the food and the generous portions. I can't wait to return with my friends for an evening out, and I'm particularly looking forward to trying the afternoon tea experience. Thank you for a truly lovely evening!"

"So we were originally meant to be a table of 7 unfortunately 2 were unable to make it, it was a surprise birthday treat for a friends birthday, she knew she was heading out with one of the girls but wasn’t expecting the rest of us. The table we had booked wasn’t ready as they were still waiting for the previous party to vacate and we were asked to sit at the bar, the three of us nervous we wouldn’t get balloon decorations ready for the birthday girl ! But we managed it just in time, as said before some tables the staff offered to take coats and they never asked us, not a big gripe we had a big table and plenty of space of at a smaller table it might have been an issue but it was incredibly busy. We found the menu more than a little confusing ! Sunday menu wasn’t overly clear tbh but we all pretty much opted to go for steaks from the a la carte after all it was a special ocassion , we ordered a number of sides to go along with our steaks and mostly non alcoholic drinks but birthday girl was treated to a wine and a cheeky wee sambuca. The wait for the steaks wasn’t longer than I’d expect anywhere for freshly prepared food and gave us plenty time to chat and enjoy a catch up. Everyone was thoroughly impressed with how all the steaks were cooked and we were all suitably stuffed. We only had mains but we did have another surprise for the birthday girl a massive Costco cake the staff brought out for her along with plates knives forks etc and joined in singing happy birthday to her. Hopefully the staff all managed to get a slice later as it was never going to be eaten by all of us. The staff were all super friendly and couldn’t have been any nicer to us. I was a bit shocked at the £30 service charge as personally I always tip but like to make my own choice about how much to tip but it was reasonable and would have been roughly similar but can’t comment for the rest of the party. I will hopefully be back but with someone else paying next time lol"

"at grasmere needed food found this little caffe they had a selection of cakes and drinks for vegans available I went with the chocolate brownie and a chocolate milkshake. I was impressed by the choice they had and that I had more than a vegan option that is very rare. I saw that they had a vegan breakfast option, but for the breakfast at the hotel where I lived, had paid, but two days shocking service and eating I went to greens. the breakfast was amazing and the Tofu cube was the best I had. they also had a choice of lunch and snacks that have vegan options. updated by previous review on 2021-08-26"

"In London for the week and enjoyed some especially wonderful meals all around. Le Boudin Blanc yielded mixed experience. Loved the ambience of the restaurant. Very pretty. Cozy. The food and wine was very good. It is not often that one finds Boudin Blanc on a menu, certainly not be on the spring time, and it was a pleasant surprise.. The meal and the presentation was very very nice. My only suggestion would be just a hint more sauce for the Boudin Blanc. Staff was a different animal all together, unfortunately. I arrived for a very early dining reservation – – I was the first one – – only to be met with a warning that they would need the table back by a certain hour – – instead of a welcome, in an empty restaurant. This is not the kind of restaurant where a single diner would otherwise linger with a coffee and an iPad. Service was very attentive until after dessert. And then, I couldn’t get anyone’s attention to bring me either another glass of wine, a coffee, or even the Bill. The sommelier finally came to take care of it. By the time I left, the first floor of the restaurant was only about half full, approximately 10 tables were occupied, With a staff of five, one sommelier, two servers, a busser, someone who looked like the manager, and a female staff member with a long dark braid whose only duty seem to be walking around the floor and doing absolutely nothing. I would have enjoyed a difestif."
