"Staff very welcoming, and child friendly too. On arrival My daughter emptied a puddle from her puddle suit onto the floor, I was so mortified but the staff were really understanding! There were plenty of well labelled vegan options on the menu. I had a hot chocolate and a soup. The bread roll was warm too and delicious. Staff were very knowledgable about vegan options and provided me vegan chocolate on the side of my hot choc and also informed me (without prompting) the spread with the bread roll was vegan too. Would definitely come back. My daughter hd a milkshake and kids meal, the bill came to £18 something. I would love to go back and have the sticky toffee pudding or brownie, I just didn’t have room!"

A lot of vegan options for a delicious meal. I highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding that was to cry for!!

So nice as a vegan to have a choice rather than just one option. Great and filling salad didn’t have room to try the cupcakes sadly.

Lots of gluten free options and they seemed clued up about GF. Only disappointment was that the menu was not the same as the menu advertised online and was more limited

it is a beautiful little place in grasmere. I like that they can sit outside or in nice weather. I drunk hot chocolate with mint was really pleasant. we ate cake too, was delicious. the service was as always harmless. same nice staff.

Headed here looking for some brunch. Wasn’t sure that Grasmere would have much to offer in the form of vegan options. How wrong I was! So many options, just a shame I didn’t have time to try them all. Sausage baguette with onion chutney done the treat! Will be coming back for some lunch soon.

Surprisingly quiet but probably due to the rain and wind keeping people away from the lakes. We had just come down from the snowline and had the best Leek Potato soup ever (we were really cold and wet! Very friendly staff in there and quick service, food was awesome and my wife enjoyed a marshmallow hot chocolate!

Really lovely cafe that we stumbled upon on our trip to Grasmere last week. The sandwiches were so fresh and the soup was lovely and both were very generous servings so brilliant value for money. The coffee was also great and piping hot which I struggled to find! The owner also gave an amazing recommendation for dinner that evening and we went back to thank him the next day before we left but we were unfortunately a bit too early.

We came for breakfast with our little Frenchie. It was absolutely lovely. We ordered 1 full English and 1 vegan breakfast. The full English was AMAZING and we couldn’t fault it. The vegan wasn’t quite as tasty, sausages and tofu was squishy and undercooked. However this place gave amazing options for everyone. The staff were doting friendly and polite and checked everything was okay a number of times. They were very polite with the dog too. We will definitely return.

Was ssked if any allergies before ordering. I advised I was GF. Explained a range of options on the menu, having a choice of GF or substituting bread for rice etc. After placing the order a waiter came back over to check if allergies. I said I was GF. He went straight into the kitchen presumably to notify chef. I had the lamb curry with rice. Very tasty! Service was quick even though it was lunch time in August. I overheard them asking other customers about allergies, one of which had a nut allergy and he advised which meals were suitable. Good range of options. Reasonably priced considering it's the middle of Grasmere.

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
