"We came here after work on a Sunday for the vegan roast. It was really dry and bland and needed a lot more gravy! We were surprised as we so enjoyed the beetroot Wellington from the Ladbroke Arms. We were seated at a table right by the bar, so we asked if we could sit in the more intimate tables and chairs next to us with the little candles we were told we could but we’d have to order at the bar as there is no table service ?! So weird as the table we moved to was literally right next to the other table. Service was slow and our waiter couldn’t answer the questions about the vegan options. Wouldn’t recommend"

"I met up with a friend for dinner and drinks at a restaurant she chose for its American food and theme. The entrance is located on the corner of Club Row and Bethnal Green Road. When you walk in past the curtained entrance, you are greeted by a reception desk and a DJ stand playing hip hop music, setting the mood. I was seated at my table while waiting for my friend to arrive. I ordered a mocktail strawberry Daiquiri and a lemonade, and the waitress was friendly. Once my friend arrived, she ordered a Gin and Tonic. The menu was simple, just one page. I ordered the cheeseburger dumplings, Cheesy Truffle fries, and The Mac Daddy burger, while my friend ordered the Mac balls and chicken and waffles. The food was flavorful and delicious. The Cheesy Truffle fries were unexpectedly delicious, earning a rating of 4/5. The Cheeseburger dumplings were rated 3.5/5 and The Mac Daddy burger got a 4/5. My friend rated her Mac balls at 3.5/5 and the chicken and waffles at 4/5. If you're looking for a taste of American NYC-style food and atmosphere in Shoreditch, I recommend stopping by this restaurant. It's worth a visit."

"The rudest staff I have ever experienced. I arrived on time for my reservation I checked my watch but was told that I had to wait outside. They were laughing in my face as they did so. Completely unacceptable. And I note that they have marked the reservation as complete, which is totally untrue. In fact, after being laughed at, I told them I was leaving. Clearly they now realize that they treated me with utter contempt. This treatment of a customer is completely unacceptable. Avoid at all costs."

"Service was horrible and slow. After waiting 20 minutes waiter came over, apologized for the wait and then proceeded to disappear. Place was almost empty and the waiters were huddled inside chatting. When we finally got our wine, mine was off so I wanted to send it back. Waiter argued that it was fine even though it smelled and tasted like vinegar. He asked if I wanted another wine and I said “No. I’d like the same wine but from a fresh bottle”. He came back and said the bartender agreed that the wine was off. No apology. Food was tasteless. View was great. We saw the tower bridge raised. I’d just go for a drink and the view if you have a lot of time on your hands."

"I visited the pub in the evening of 13/06/22. I myself, sisters and elders enjoy coming here, as the foods and drinks are of good taste and great taste. our visit on Monday was great when kelly, alice, jack and jim recognized me and sisters who are regular visitors. jim greeted us at the door and was very welcoming and lead is to our table. from then on it was a seamless night for my family and the service of kelly was efficient as the appetizers, net and my two freky puddings were error-free. Many thanks to the chefs in this night, as I loved the lamb especially, especially by a person who never really goes for the lamb option (picture below). Thank you. cromwell team for a fun and relaxing night for my family."

"After attending an afternoon show at the theatre on a Sunday near Christmas, we decided to have a meal at this restaurant. The atmosphere was quite lively with several groups of diners, making it somewhat noisy. I ordered the Sunday roast, but regretted my choice as the vegetables tasted old and had likely been sitting out for a while. The beef, however, was delicious. My friend opted for the salmon, which she enjoyed. Our desserts were satisfying. The staff were all friendly and attentive, although the service was slow. Overall, the experience was mixed."

"My experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. I had a reservation for Christmas Eve, but when I arrived, they claimed they had no record of it and no availability. It was unclear what went wrong with their system, as they didn't explain. They did eventually offer us a table, but it wasn't until two and a half hours later, which was not ideal. They also didn't seem very apologetic about the situation."

"What's happened here? This used to be my absolute fave restaurant. Great atmosphere, beatutiful rooms, great food, a really nice Scottish waitress who would conscientiously tell you about the daily specials in a charming way. Weeellll the lovely waitress has gone (where?oh where? replaced by male staff totally in love with themselves, and not at all interested in seating or serving guests ,the atmosphere is not so great any more (at least in my opinion but the food. Now this is where I really been having problems lately. The cheeseburger used to be an absolutely reliable staple -last time I went I could hardly eat a quarter of it Never mind the half raw onion thoughtfully placed next to it, it was the meat that really shocked me. I thought maybe better not eat any more, you never know. My partner's salmon was flavourless. Another time we went a side dish of green beans had definitely not seen any boiling water, let alone seasoning. So what is going on here? Cost cutting? A new chef? I have no idea. Come back, old Brown's, I beg you!"

"We had a really lovely evening, the service we had was exceptional (thank you Reka! . It is clear the team are very well trained, knowledgable and have lovely personalities. The food and menu were thoughtful and tasteful we shared the surf and turf with lobster and steak, as well as a cheese board for dessert it was all delicious. "the swans booked over 1 month ago, arrived and waited 10 minutes to take place, we were given the menu and told no Sunday roast as they had expired, only had huh left. order fish and chips that, when delivered, were running out of cod, so that had replaced with sea bass should not only have been served) and this had bones in it. wife had seen fish cake on the online menu, these were not on the printed menu, but after asking, they found some. friend ordered buter milk chicken that came with an salat that could not look very tired. friends man had soul bass that was good. We had two sweets that were okay. Pity like 1 year ago until the day we had a fantastic meal in the swan and had come back to repeat our evening, but unfortunately it was not to be. not sure we will go back next year."

"Our first visit but it won't be our last. The food was good but the fishcakes should have been served with fries or potatoes. Serving them with only salad is not sufficient or value for money. Isabella was excellent as were all the staff. The person who greeted us at the door was rather subdued towards our arrival and did not create the ideal first impression. I do not want to overplay this and no one should be reprimanded but a smile sends a powerful message."

"A real hidden/ unknown gem... as a gluten intolerant diner, I get so annoyed when we aren't catered for (half the stuff taken off the plate, but yet still charged the extortionate amount).... NOT here.. I've been a few times now and have thoroughly enjoyed each time. The manager is attentive, friendly and a real character! He takes time and effort to entertain the children, make sure they are catered for so the adults can enjoy their food. The service is great, the food is amazing and if you're a gluten free eater, you have to try this restaurant/ pub.. it's so random as it's literally on a roundabout between east grinstead and Crawley... but 100% worth the trip... id definitely book, though!! Enjoy x"

"Came for a date night with other half (we don't get out much have two babies) anyway food was so fast we had eaten our whole meal in under an hour (3 course) felt very rushed. "Service was indifferent. Was offered water at table. Had to ask for it again. Offered bread to share at the table didn’t realise it was billed at £6.50 Selected wine from list price printed didn’t match what they had on tablet. Was told they’d deduct the difference, but when the bill arrived, it wasn’t. Wine “waiter” just poured the glasses walked away. Fortunately it was fine. The food was good all credit to the kitchen staff on turning out attractive, tasty dishes. The Saxon Mill won’t feature on our list to revisit for a long time."

"I was really disappointed with our experience at one kew rd. I love the atmosphere and have been before for drinks so expected the meal to be great. We ordered 2 steaks, and although the meat was tender it had been left to go cold for too long before reaching the table and had gone dry. Our waiter didn’t understand that the steak came with baby kale which we had to ask for twice, and the pepper sauce had to be changed as the amount of pepper in it felt like a whole jar or peppercorns had fallen in. The second waiter tried if and did his best to change it. Sadly I don’t think I’ll be coming back for a meal."

"my 4 year old daughter and I went today to a meal, we were told first, there was no fish on the menu, my first was mixed up what my daughter went to eat (they's autistic so has some sensory problems when it comes to eating) after the explanation to the waiter there was fish cake on the menu, but it came to be happy with salat and mayo - there would not be wise to order her I found that both the waitress and waitress was beautiful with her and patient, even if it is possible to order ice, she had to draw 1 'pink' and the other I would have been more than happy to eat there again, thanks for a beautiful meal that could have been of a catastrophe."

"We are regular diners and The Mitre is our local. We are quite disappointed with our lunch for the following reasons: 1) the service was slow because there was only one server working 2) the server needs to be more careful when serving drinks the teapot was leaking hot water (onto the table) when being poured there was a genuine risk of the water spilling on to one of our laps 3) one of the teapots had an old piece of mint inside they really do need to pay more attention to cleanliness 4) we informed the server of our daughter's allergies and were directed to an online allergen menu (using the QR code). However, all the menu options were not available we had to modify an existing dish from the menu (feels like a waste of time going to the online menu) 5) despite an empty dining area, we still had to wait nearly 20 minutes for our food the manager pointed out that we should expect to wait 20 25 minutes for food 6) we were informed that the food was made from scratch but that is questionable. The club sandwich was well received but the fish and chips was questionable the curry sauce was watery, the batter was soft and the chips tasted like they came from a foodservice company. Overall, we will not be coming back for food only for drinks."

"First of all, the table we booked online was not available when we arrived at the pub, so we had to wait for a short time. The service was quite sluggish. We had to ask for water to be brought to our table twice. The waitress seemed unfamiliar with the dessert options. The dessert we ordered, which we were told was a new addition to the menu, ended up being a disappointment. It resembled a piece of frozen arctic roll with a scoop of ice cream on top, all covered in some meringue. It shouldn't have been served at all and definitely needs to be taken off the menu."

"Fantastic service and great atmosphere. We we're only there for a coffee, but we want to return for a meal. The decor is very stylish, and it looks like a place that is great for food, drinks, whatever. We chose it because we were looking for a coffee, but as soon as we walked in, we knew we'd found a new place. The staff were seriously friendly and efficient they even appeared they were having fun! We will definitely be back."
