"Before I start, I want to say that the restaurant owner has reached out to us to apologize and make this right. This review is based on the events of the night. TLDR: Starters took an hour to arrive, and we gave up on further food after 90 minutes and left. Were told the order had not gone through the system, but the front of house staff didn’t notice we weren’t eating or clear the empty glasses from our table and ask if we wanted a second round. We watched other tables eat 3 courses (although we were not the only table who left unhappy). We were a table of 5 who booked in for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We had to leave a £10 per person deposit to hold the table, fair enough. The website also stated that we had to pre order our meals, which seems a little strange for a table of 5 (I could understand if we were twice as many). A phone call confirmed that we didn’t have to pre order, so the website could do with updating as this might put people off. We arrived a few minutes early, sat down and ordered some cocktails and then our food (starters and main course). After an hour we had finished our drinks, the empties hadn’t been cleared away and nobody asked if we wanted more. We then asked what had happened to our starters and suggested some chips and dip for the table while we waited. After checking we were told that our starters were being plated up and there was not point in getting chips (one of our party wasn’t having a starter and by then was getting pretty hungry). The starters were delicious when we finally got them. After flagging down a server for another round of drinks, we waited, watching other table arrive after us, and be served their meals. I was beginning to wonder if we had done something wrong when I saw someone from another table to go the kitchen hatch and collect their own food (they later also left the restaurant unhappy). When we did ask what the delay was, the staff were not helpful, or apologetic. We finally gave up on getting our food and left. During the evening the owner (also the chief) was in the kitchen working away. He seemed unaware of the issues going on in the front of house, and nobody apologised to us, or offered to put things right until we left (the owner did email us the next day and has been working with us to make amends)."

Seafood dish excellent Meat dish not so good. Sauce great but pork was quite tough. However the staff did offer to change the meal. Puddings and coffee were great. Really finished a nice meal off. Would highly recommend the restaurant Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

I'm going to have to give tonight's experience a 1-star rating. After waiting almost 2 hours for our main courses, we finally decided to leave. This would have been tolerable if we had received any warning, an apology, or even complimentary drinks or snacks. Unfortunately, our server was quite rude and even accused me of borderline bullying when I made a lighthearted comment about forgetting our order. If there’s an issue with preparing the food, just admit it. A simple apology, a drink, or some information about the delay would have been so much better than getting upset with customers who are politely inquiring about what's happening.

It was a shame our experience of coming here was not as great as before. As a group of 7 we were told to pre order but the food still arrived a different times and some elements were cold and dried out like the rice. The food arrived even before our drinks. Some dishes had shellfish but no finger bowls or spare dishes for the shells. Some dishes clearly had frozen mixed veg in. The steak skewer starter around £8 was one small skewer, very expensive for a small portion size. The service was OK but we were left waiting on food and drinks often, some staff didn't even speak to us but just stared at us till we took our food for drinks from them.
