"Madame and I have stayed at a nearby hotel at several points over the last dozen or so years, but for some reason had not visited this restaurant, despite scoping its menu fairly often. This time, however, we visited for a Tuesday lunch, and then...for dinner a week later. The results were strikingly inconsistent a great lunchtime experience, and a dinner that did the establishment little credit of any sort. The lunch was good, though, so let's start there: we shared grilled vegetables, and then I had pasta while Madame ordered a small pizza. We shared a 50 cl pot-de-vin, and a bottle of San Pellegrino. All items were really good, arrived promptly, and were accompanied by friendly service, despite a fairly busy lunchtime situation. We enjoyed the lunch so much that we promised ourselves we'd come back for a simple dinner on the night before our departure. We arrived early, and were seated promptly; a salume platter shared between us made a fine starter. But things went rapidly downhill after that. The restaurant again became busy, but not stunningly so; still, we and our order of a Quattro Stagioni pizza were completely forgotten. A variety of beseeching looks and types of body language produced no pizza, and some of the guests near us began to notice that they'd come in later and had been served while we were looking at an empty tabletop. Finally, our repeated efforts to get someone's attention paid off, and he went skittering off to the kitchen; a while later (by now we'd been in the place for nearly an hour and were reduced to nursing the dregs of our wine) he returned with a pizza that had obviously been thrown together in haste. Toppings were loaded up on one side, but more or less absent on the other; one quadrant of the crust had neither sauce nor cheese. We edited the thing as best we could, but also let the staffer (same one who'd had our table for our lunch a week before) know we were not happy with what we'd been served, and some at neighboring tables told us we were right to complain. We were civil about the whole thing but the reactions we got seemed to reflect a complete lack of interest. We finished quickly, and had no dessert cutting our losses and on the way out Madame mentioned some of our complaints again, and for her trouble got shouted at sarcastically as she left the restaurant. What seemed to be a manager was witnessing all of this but did nothing. We think of ourselves as restaurant veterans and, over the past forty-plus years, have seen many situations get all pear-shaped. We try to understand the situations staffers have to deal with, and are never obnoxious or contentious in making complaints when we must. The problems with our dinner were far from the worst we've seen, but the lack of interest, followed by overt nastiness, that we experienced at Alfredo Positano were really out of line. We left the place really disappointed, and are unlikely ever to come back."

Really enjoyed this restaurant. I was able to get one of my favorite dishes, pasta al nero di seppia which I found to be so good that I returned the next day and had the same exact dish.

beautiful authentic Italian restaurant in bustling st germain du pres, pariser city part. I like good Italian food and I was recommended to visit, but I was not fully prepared how well this place was. amazingly high-quality fresh products prepared for perfection, no...wonder the place is so busy. if they have to wait, it will not be long and it is worth every minute

We were staying in St Germain des Pres and went here for dinner. Unfortunately, the service was chaotic. The restaurant was full and the 3 waiters weren't coping. They delivered food to my son and I and completely forgot my wife's meal. We reminded them...and the brought it over and dumped the plate on the table. One French customer started shouting as they got his order wrong. The waiter started shouting back at the customer. We rarely leave negative reviews but we would avoid this place.

Terrible experience. Judging by the other reviews, this seems to be happening fairly regularly! Ordered the spaghetti vongole, only to open a clam shell that was filled with black, rotten gunk! When we reported it to the waiter, he shouted at me first, then at...my husband in an almighty voice, saying that he refused to refund us for the meal. The manager subsequently agreed a refund, only to be bellowed at by our waiter! Needless to say we took our money and got out of there. Pretty unpleasant experience.

A couple blocks from St. Suplice Church is a maze of charming restaurants, many of them Italian. Can go wrong with Alfredo Positano. Great tasting food. My picky teens and husband found something pleasing on the menu. Prompt service. Bread and oils are served ..not the case in many other restaurants. Nice table settings with beautiful custom plates. Call to reserve the patio table in the warm months since there is no air conditioning in the most of these restaurants. Across the street is Amorino with the best gelato ever. A perfect location!

wow, wow! that was far and away the best Italian I ever had! eating was crazy - I have never seen bigger prawns in my whole life and even the simple dishes were an exquisite blend of subtle aromas and shed tasty! Absolut...fantastic! but it was even better made by the employees - they were all welcoming and efficient, especially julie and luca, the owners who were so warm and friendly and full of wonderful recommendations and funny strata even in an absolutely full restaurant. they seemed to make effortless, what a huge hard job must be and made the experience really like a personal and unforgettable feeling! a lunch I don't forget for a long time! eat them here and they won't regret it!

A little spot on Rue Guisarde in the 6th arrondissement in Paris...just three or four blocks off the intersection of Avenue Saint-Germain and Rue de Seine. Frankly it is very traditional Italian...good appetizers, my wife and I shared the bruschetta. In terms of main courses,...a great selection of pasta and risotto or fish and meat dishes. My wife had the Risotto Milanese...I tasted it, it was creamy and delicious. My choice was the Veal Milanese ..very authentic and tasty, although I couldn't finish the meal...the portion was very large. A wide selection of desserts, of course Tiramisu, gelato, apple tarts...etc. A very nice, comfortable Italian spot in Paris. I recommend a visit for those...

now, my plentiful waist would prove that I don't eat any stranger, and my bank manager would tell them that I should eat more often in restaurants than I should, but today on a narrow street in paris I found the place that the others in shadow, a busy classic Italian feeling with professional and efficient staff, none of the absent thoughts, work on the happy people here, the olive. plump perfection. the focaccia ?... now I've had focaccia before. ! but this, crisp, but tender and with a beautiful texture and the spice was subtle, but with deep. then came the pasta. I never tasted so, a tagliolini that rolled so beautiful on the fork it was like a work of art, perfect bite and texture, the a...
