"What a unique place. It is like eating in the dining room of a house. Run by the owner and his wife. Warm and welcoming. Around 4 or 5 tables certainly book in advance. Antonio is host and chef. The décor is Portuguese through and through. Forget about silver service, this gem of a place is all about the food and the wine. We had monkfish, scallop and prawns presented on a hanging skewer very dramatic! Served with chips and salad. The fish was to die for succulent and tasty. Yes, the prawns were shell on. (it does seem messy, but worth it! The chips something else. I know chips are chips, but not these. Great will a little sea salt. A real tasty salad which was the best ever. Portuguese cheese and port followed beautiful. Closed off with a real good red wine. A superb experience with stunning food (evidently Antonio catches some of the fish himself! Would I go back most definitely!"

alvorada is an absolute gem. an intimate little restaurant with only 4 tables in the house of the owners. antonio, the cook, goes out fishing 2 or 3 times a week and cooks what is in the season and he catches. eating is exquisite and the owners are very charismatic and have many layers to share. definitiw one for a special occasion are about £20 and starter £8 10. really special culinary experience!

never expected to find a local Portuguese restaurant in cornwall. this beautifully located, very friendly owners (sue and antonio) pacts a very fresh seafood menu that tastes like the time I was in porto. quality of the food was amazing and the price at the portions was worth it well. they have to try the full three cures, how it is done by them. the handmade ceramics they have are also great as souvenir. must try, but remember to book before they are busy every day. they close on Sunday and Monday.
