"I have found my favourite cocktail. It's taken years of research and much trial and error but here it is Hey Ladies It's Breakfast tea infused Beefeater Gin, Creme de Figue, lemon, fig jam, egg white, Prosecco top, and a sherbet rim It's beautiful. It's delicious. It's sweet. It's got everything I love Prosecco, gin, lemon and some sweeeet sherbet. Mission accomplished At Ask For Janice in Farringdon, there is a new Spring menu and a whole host of newly created cockatils, mostly featuring one or more of their 40+ gins. I tried both the Hey Ladies and the 3 Minute Rule. I had to try them again.. The restaurant on street level looks out onto Smithfield Market, and is only a...read more"

Thanks to a handful of small-batch artisan distillers tinkering with various botanicals, London’s historically infamous ‘Mother’s ruin’ is back on the menu at a host of hipster bars in the big smoke.

I asked for Janice and got such a fresh pint aaaaaahhhhhhhh I went in here with a friend before heading to meet some friends, so I had little time on hands, but boy oh boy, it was worth its salt ! Quirky prices of art and deco, old school style chairs, nice and colourful.

admitted, I only visited twice, to breakfast, so I mean on basic. please for janice misses the brand of my opinion. Coffee is good, the prices are fair, but the quality is so. the granola option has a tonne dry, basic and not made to house granola, the yogurt was no more than a tablespoon, fresh berries and honey a necessary supplement as well as the extra milk. service friendly but not so fast View menu

Fresh, foraged, seasonal food served alongside stunning cocktails Ask For Janice is revelation. In an area of London that I more commonly associate with all-nighters at Fabric and dodgy burgers and milkshakes afterwards at the open 24/7 Tinseltown, I was delighted to find out more about this new to me restaurant serving an ever changing menu of seasonal produce with cocktails made from some of their 40+ gins.

with the remodeling of the subway station and many rebuild in the environment in recent years, farringdon lost some of the many cool venues (e.g. turnmills) I was common. so I was glad to see some character back to ec1 with the opening of bar restaurant ask for janice last year. I wanted to visit some time, so with christmas I approached one of my friends and I went last week for some festive eating and drinking.

. At Ask For Janice in Farringdon, there is a new Spring menu and a whole host of newly created cockatils, mostly featuring one or more of their 40+ gins. I tried both the Hey Ladies and the 3 Minute Rule. I had to try them again.... It opened only last year, and I don't know who Janice is, nor did I ask for her, but she has created a fantastic menu featuring locally sourced seasonal ingredients, some even foraged in Hackney. “Asking for Janice” seems to mean take it easy, enjoy a few drinks alongside some dishes of crafty comfort food and set your concerns on pause for a while, or so my experience played out when I finally got round to paying a visit to this highly recommended little bar. I really enjoyed my dinnertime visit to AFJ. A number of foodie folk whose opinions I respect had been upping the thumb about the place to me since it opened. They were right too.

the chorizo swims practically in sherry and is so tender that we can distribute it almost on the roasted piece of sourded bread that accompanies it. a huge bowl of quid, which was crushed in stout, is shattered with an orange wedge and continues the strenuous trend of the meal. a combination of carburized fennel and leaf crumbles offers a light relief for the decadent dishes, anise undertones that create a layered and complex taste that is a pleasant alternative to a traditional byalate.

"The decor of the restaurant is really lovely. We were greeted as soon as we arrived. We placed our orders quite briskly. We received complimentary bread and olives, which was a nice touch. Our Bruchetta starter arrived a whole hour after we arrived, which was disappointing and far too long to wait for a cold and easy starter. The menu did not specify that the prawns on one of the bruschettas were raw! The waiter said service was slow because they were busy with Uber Eats and Deliveroo. Clearly not prioritising paying customers, who pay a 12.5% service charge, unlike online customers. Eventually, our main courses arrived. My pasta was only just cooked, so close to being undercooked and hard. They ran out of ricotta and replaced it with the tiniest amount of cheese so I asked for some more. Since ricotta was supposed to be the main ingredient of the dish. The tuna steak was lovely, and the veal could have done with a thinner breadcrumb batter. The sides, chips and zucchini, were £4.50 and very small portions for such a cheap side. So that was slightly disappointing. Overall, the pinot grigio white wine was very drinkable, and they brought tap water when we asked for it. And the whole staff were very polite. It was a shame the service was so slow, and the food could have been better for the price that it was. We also felt it was overpriced for the location it was, zone 2 London and not in the West End."
