"We have eaten at Au Boeuf Rouge many times in the past 35 years but our last visit until today was over ten years ago. Whenever we came to visit my in-laws in Germany, we would make the pilgrimage to this special place and always for Sunday lunch. We traveled up from Colmar today and were worried that we were expecting too much. Rest assured we weren't. We have eaten at many restaurants on our current trip, including both a Michelin 2 star and 1 star. Au Boeuf Rouge and the family Golla delivered our best dining experience by far on this trip, and one of our best ever. If you are looking for a place where they practically measure the distance between your knife and spoon, or whisk your glass or dish away the instant you are finished with it, this isn't it. That is the only reason we can think of for them not getting a star beacause the rest of the experience is sensational. The ambience, beautifully redone interior, friendly and attentive service, as well as the design and presentation of the dishes, the quality, and above all the taste certainly merit a star. My wife and I agree that the current Au Boeuf Rouge not only met our extremely high expectations, but surpassed them. We both chose the 4 course €73 menu and the finale of our meal included cheeses from an overwhelming selection on their cheese cart for me and phenonomal desserts from the dessert cart for my wife. Of course we shared! If you are planning to visit the Alsace, do yourself a favor and dine here. We most strongly recommend the Sunday lunch if you are able. We are very confident you will be happy you did."

The food and service are of the highest quality. I agree with the previous reviewer that this place deserves a star from Michelin. I’ve only eaten in a few restaurants with a Michelin star and the food here matches or exceeds my other experiences. Wonderful and attentive staff that go the extra mile to be the best. On our first night we had the 30euro menu (the cheapest) and it was probably the best value food we've ever had.

My wife and I had a very good meal here, the degustation was very good, the service was efficient and friendly, after a few language difficulties at first. There was not a matching wine degustation, but the sommelier was very helpful and gave excellent suggestions. I would not say this is quite michelin star status, but it is getting pretty close. I would recommend this for anyone looking for a special, formal meal in the area. Nice.

This little gem of a restaurant is worth visiting if you are nearby. also if you are within a radius of 100 km, then it's worth your time to go. it is simply amazing! The food is excellent and the service is top notch. The restaurant belongs to a hotel, and both are family owned. This means that everything is as at home at a very quality-conscious family, and you feel like a friend of the family as soon as you enter the door. I've never been in a better restaurant - and I've been on some restaurants View menu

We held an 85th and 90th Birthday Celebration for my mother-in-law and father-in-law in early June, and I must say that we and all of our guests could not have been more impressed and pleased with our experience. Lunch for our 45 guests was flawless, service was outstanding, and the function room was beautifully and comfortably arranged. Catherine Golla helped us coordinate the entire event, and she advised us expertly. She also went far beyond the call of duty when she learned that two of our young guests were outside resting in a car, having arrived exhausted and ill. She graciously offered them a room at the Inn to sleep during the party, free of charge. I strongly doubt that the five sta...

It took me some time to write down this review as I didn't know where to start. First, let me say that I worship French cuisine. I was born and raised in France and I have never tasted a finer cuisine in the world, although I love them all, whether American, Italian, Lebanese or even British food pub. Le Boeuf rouge has no Michelin stars, no fancy ratings, no pretentious menu but it is the perfect place to understand why French cuisine deserves to be worshipped. We decided to also book a room in the hotel and it was a smart idea as we could barely walk after the avalanche of great food. Le Boeuf rouge serves honest French cuisine and does it in style. The service is perfect. The owner is a f...

"Before we issued our impressions, I would like to point out that we had already visited this restaurant several times (breakfast and dinner) and that we had always been very satisfied (see the 16/04/2017 notice). Unfortunately it was nothing for this Saturday night, while we had reserved this option because we are fervent followers of the beef coast. When we arrived at 7:40, we took an aperitif, our entrance (no cooking since it was a simple mixed salad) was served at 9:05. note that the table next (4 covers) was served much faster. Was it because they had ordered their “à la carte” dishes? While it was, once we had finished, we still waited 45 minutes to finally see the long-awaited beef coast. Meat served barely warm, cooking not in accordance with our demand (crum served blue, stirring cooked to the point...), was not at all to our taste (fade, very firm, very fat, nervous, very few tender parts...) so that we had difficulty decoying it to find tiny edible parts. our plates returned to the kitchen full of waste. and we did not take it back because what was proposed was the same vein. As for the accompaniment (correct spray, but oily knobs and warm taste...), they were not at the height. to believe that the cook was not the one who had prepared the dishes so much appreciated during our previous passages! Of course we have pointed out our dissatisfaction to the waitress/server about the very, far too long wait and the quality of what was served to us, but not being in any case responsible for the situation, they have done what they could. We had to return the one that had been advised and have it replaced by another, which of course was immediately accepted. In this regard, would it not be better to make it taste before pouring it into the carafe, for – for the second wine – my friend had to stop the waiter while he poured the wine in the carafe and asked to taste it before. To sum up, this spoiled evening is to be forgotten!"
