"I would normally sing the praises of Bear but a recent visit was very disappointing. Hygiene not up to scratch, a long 45 minutes) wait to receive food, and a flat atmosphere made this visit very poor. Add to this an unapproachable member of staff serving behind the bar who was not communicating with ANY customers middle age and colder than a block of ice) Bear used to be the place to be, with so much better choice in Uttoxeter it’s rapidly turning into the place to avoid if you want great customer service as well as good food."

What a little gem in Uttoxeter, excellent selection of breakfast, brunch and lunch. Coffee really is the best I’ve ever tasted and the staff are wonderful.

Although this isn’t a Vegan cafe, it does have better Vegan options than anywhere else in town. They have coffees, teas, smoothies, cocktails, beers, cakes, biscuits, mains such as falafel, pizza, wraps etc.

As a regular customer I can wholeheartedly recommend Bear as a consistently excellent place for coffee, cakes and food. The staff are friendly and engaging and it sits quite comfortably above every other establishment in the area!

The prices for the basic food items were extremely high. I paid £17 for a small to medium sized portion of fries and a salad. There were not many choices available on the menu. I would not return to this restaurant for the food. #Veganuary

Disappointed having regularly visited I’ve past years. They’ve lost their edge and sparkle for me the House made granola was underwhelming with Rice Krispies predominant and very little else overpriced for regular cereal, and cinnamon roll not fresh despite advice to the contrary. Poached eggs on toast was good as it used to be.

I tried the bubble and squeak cakes and a blueberry Bakewell tart at this restaurant. There are a couple of vegan options available, but no vegan pancakes. The bubble and squeak cakes were very spicy, even for someone like me who usually handles spice well. They offer free vegan milks for coffee. I regret not taking any pictures of my meal.

What a shame, used to be a great place for a business lunch. Staff very unattentive and rude when asking to clear away dirty cups that had been on the table over an hour. Preferring to stand talking. Also not offering further drinks at the table like they used to. With new coffee shops in the area wont be returning. Food excellent but service lets the place down, no service with a smile here!

We had brunch at this restaurant a month ago with four of us. Some of us ordered the bubble and squeak, which our friends had tried before and found it to be very different from what they remembered. Personally, I found it to be super dry, almost like it had been dehydrated. There were also several cake options available. The atmosphere was nice, but it could use more vegan options on the menu. Despite this, we are willing to give it another try in the future.
