"We stopped for an early lunch on our way to vacation and were fortunate to arrive early as the restaurant quickly filled up. I ordered a smoked salmon platter that was incredibly tasty, with a generous serving of salmon and cream cheese on beautiful bread (although I wish they had served butter with it). The coffee was good, but the cake was not impressive. Overall, it was a lovely spot for a break and the server was friendly. We would happily return if we were in the area again."

A cool place for a quick lunch: well organised, with enough space for all, nice staff, and good dishes for its category. Basic but good.

A good selection of savoury snacks and cake tees and coffee reasonably priced and well served by staff The water wheel is sadly out of service due low water levels

Quirky and full of atmosphere plus great food and good coffee, too. Had the salmon platter and it was enormous but very good quality. They sell nice bread as well. View menu

No water for the water mill, disappointing, but not their fault. Consequently no self produced flour. Most disappointing, scones with WIPPED cream. What a disgrace of British tradition.

Delightful lunch, charming location. We elected for the toasties, mine bacon, Brie with onion marmalade. My companion enjoyed toasted with goat’s cheese, onion, salad and crisps. Perfect lunch for a sunny Scottish day!

Really accommodating helpful staff. Honest homemade hearty food and good value! The homemade soup was lovely the carrot cake! The BLT was in they’re own bread too. We bought some bread to take home. Recommend and return. View menu

We made a spontaneous visit to this restaurant. The staff was friendly and helpful. The carrot cake could have been improved with some sultanas, and the fruit scone had wholemeal flour, which may not be everyone's preference. Nonetheless, we had a very pleasant and enjoyable experience.

I stopped by for a light lunch and the restaurant was quite busy, but I was able to get a table. I enjoyed a delicious lentil vegetable soup with homemade bread, followed by a slice of light and tasty carrot cake. I also purchased a packet of their own deluxe muesli, which looks delicious with a variety of nuts and fruits. I can't wait to try it.

"This place has all the potential for a 5 star experience and you may well have it by going here! Unfortunately, we did not and it's worth explaining why. For context, we didn't stay overnight just had a meal in the restaurant one night and went to the beer garden another. Restaurant: Food was generally very good and prices reasonable. I'd especially recommend the tempura chard if it's on the menu! The setting of the restaurant is also lovely. However, we ended up waiting about an hour between starters and main meal 2 people . We were advised approx 40 minutes into the wait that one of the mains was no longer available and a substitute would be provided there was some gnocchi improvised from potato mash involved. Service were on top of this though and did remove this item from the bill. So in summary, good elements involved but a couple areas that could do with attention. Beer garden: We went along to the beer garden to catch the rugby world cup final. This was sadly quite a disappointing experience that ended up with the limited attendance clearing out before half time . In short, coverage only started after national anthems. No sound other than via headphones ?? , which didn't work ?! . Pizzas were pretty tasty but the cheese was stringy as a ball of yarn positive with no cutlery or tissues provided negative . And at c. £16 per pizza, felt a bit cheated by the whole experience. The rooms themselves look lovely and I'm sure on a summer's day if you're looking to enjoy some drinks and a bit of food in a lovely setting, the Taybank probably covers exactly what you're looking for! They also run a traditional music session in the main bar on a Thursday evening, which is absolutely worth checking out! But I'm afraid for us, it's unlikely we would rush back for anything other than that."
