"We popped into The Boathouse for a coffee to kill some time pre a boat trip to Mount Edgecome we were greeted by a reasonably pleasant character where we reqested a table to sit and enjoy some coffee as we had 45 minutes to wait until boarding a boat, what we thought was plenty of time, WRONG ..... The restaurant was quiet empty but still took 10 minutes for our order to be taken but thought we still had 35 minutes pre boarding, 20 minutes later we were still waiting for 6 drinks, finally 3 coffees came 1 of them cold, we then had to remind them of the 3 teas also ordered where 3 of the party could only drink half of the tea due to time constraints. On payment i aired my concerns over the waiting time to which was replied it wasn 't that long, enjoy the rest of your day absolutely appalling service, returning customers/recommendations count for a high percentage of business if this service/dealing with customer complaints is anything to go by im surprised there is any custom at all...we will not br returning."

Manager needs a lesson in manners, food 3/10 was cold and had the nerve to charge £28 for 3 little bits of scampi. Avoid, there are far more better restaurants close by.

I tried the Lobster with Mac 'n' Cheese for the first time on February 29, 2024, and was pleasantly surprised by how well the combo worked. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Coffees sat on the bar for ages and arrived lukewarm and without spoons. Staff weren't very conspicuous! Could have been a pleasant Boxing Day meet for coffee, but was disappointing. View menu

The food quality at this restaurant has severely declined. It used to be good, but now it is very poor. Despite the high prices, the lack of freshness and the frozen fish make it not worth returning. The staff, however, are friendly.

Ordered two chicken wraps and two hot drinks. Two small wraps each, mostly full of salad, not seasoned , no sauce with a bit of salad and crisps. No salt or pepper brought out, not even a serviette. All for £32. Far too expensive. Very disappointing and won’t bother again. Stick to Captain Jaspers around the corner. Fine dining this isn’t, rip off tourist place.

We visited here with our son visiting from Switzerland. Nice table and lovely waiting staff. The food was very average. Luke warm apart from the scampi which was straight from the deep fat fryer. My husband had modules, a favourite of his, but hardly touched the sauce which he thought was odd. Such a shame as we walk past this restaurant frequently and thought it would be nice to.take our son. View menu

I had the three-course Valentine's set menu at this restaurant. It was excellent value and the food was delicious. The wine was reasonably priced, but there wasn't a lot of choice. The service was relaxed and very friendly, and the live music was great. It was a pity that the restaurant was only half full because it definitely deserved to be busier. I will definitely go back next time I'm in Plymouth.

Visited with 8 and 6 year old grandchildren for a treat. lunch. No children’s drinks available, ended up with fresh orange for one child and J2O for another which was expensive and not really suitable. Cold coffee, , chips that were not properly cooked, and as one child wanted fish and chips we had to purchase an adult portion for a six year old ! No small portions available. Serving staff very polite and friendly but meals really not good. The children also found it difficult having portions of beans and peas in scallop shells although a nice touch for adults.

"Visited on a busy Saturday evening. General impression is the restaurant is clean, well presented and evidently well liked for how many people were in the small dining area. A little noisy, particularly in the confined space beside the kitchen, when seated close beside a louder table. As the evening progressed, we felt quite cold not sure if the heating was on? Service from the staff was outstanding, very friendly, polite, attentive, but food was slow to arrive. We were a little perplexed by having the appetiser on the table before our starter/main order had been taken, so having to work around still having the menus. The smoked butter was very strong my partner liked it, it was too much for me. Both fish starters were good, with the mackerel our favourite. The main courses were OK. The lamb was fine, but served with lamb fat root veg meant the whole plate was very similar flavoured, and the green beans/salsa verde felt like an afterthought. The skate wing was nice, and the crispy capers were a new and pleasant experience. The desserts rescued the food for me the creme brulée was outstanding, and the chocolate special was very good, with exception of a slightly chewy meringue. I feel I'm being picky with my criticisms, but fig tree is definitely priced higher than other more standard fare restaurants in Plymouth where we have also had very good food."
