"The service is great. However, Sunday lunch I had on November 12 was disappointing. The carvery was less than average. I had the gammon which was a small portion although cooked ok. Yorkshire pudding was cold. All the vegetables were cold. Roast potatoes were coated in something I have not tasted before. Cauliflower cheese were tiny florets with tasteless cheese sauce. Gravy a little greasy also cold. I have Sunday carvery at other Brewers Faye restaurants that were better cooked than the Old Nelson. I suggest to take a look at the produce served before ordering. Just to add the food is better described as lukewarm. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4"

The experience at this restaurant was very disappointing. I ordered my steak rare, but it came out well done. I had to ask for a refund.

The food was okay. My partner wanted a vegan meal and was able to find something on the menu. However, it would be helpful to have a separate menu for vegans to make the selection process easier. Food: 3, Service: 5, Atmosphere: 5. View menu

I recently had dinner at this restaurant, where the price per person ranged from £10 to £20. The food was rated a 4, the service a 5, and the atmosphere a 4. I highly recommend trying the Mixed Grill and the Ice Cream Sundae with Cadbury Dairy Milk Caramel Nibbles.

Me and mum went to the Nelson this evening, staff member Anna was very accommodating and sat us down in an area we wanted. She also ensured our meals came out to us in a timely manner, very polite, thanks Anna ! I stopped by Nelson's for a quick snack and was not impressed. The young person at the till had to ask for help four times while the other staff stood around talking. When my food arrived, the chips were burnt so I asked for an exchange, which they did without any issue. However, the peas were hard as bullets and the scampi looked cheap. I won't be returning to this restaurant. View menu

Grubby chaotic. As it’s on a variety of levels it’s difficult for navigate easily between the tables with one occasionally 2 steps to navigate between bar to order food, cutlery service area tables. The ramp access to the front entrance is partially blocked by a bench table there is a step immediately inside into a dining area, extremely difficult with a wheelchair or buggy. Best avoided.

This restaurant offers great value and excellent service. We dined in for dinner and the price per person was between £1-10. The food, service, and atmosphere all scored a perfect 5 out of 5. Recommended dishes include the Beer-Battered Haddock and Chips, as well as the Mixed Grill. Vegetarians are highly recommended to try this place. There is plenty of parking available in the free parking lot.
