"Our first visit to the Primrose Tea Rooms in this beautiful village, full of thatched cottages. We wandered round the pretty garden first of all, but decided to sample something from the menu, inside. We chose to eat an egg mayonnaise sandwich with bacon, and were amazed when it arrived. The accompanying salad contained at least twelve different items of fruit, veg, and salads. It was delicious. The lady who served our food , and coffee was so friendly, and was willing to chat to us about the cafe, food, and the village in general, and we all enjoyed our visit."

"I stopped for brunch at Home Farm café. I'm very glad I did as it was really delicious. I had avocado and feta on sourdough and a lady at a nearby table remarked that it looked fabulous. The staff were friendly and welcoming. There are plenty of tables outside for the dry weather and it's dog friendly too. This is an independent café at a National Trust site. I don't know why but they are always better than NT cafés for some reason."

"We visited the restaurant at noon without a reservation and were informed we could sit anywhere except for one specific table. After being directed to a different table, we were then told we couldn't sit there either. Finally, we were seated in a dark corner with minimal space between us and the table behind. We were placed right next to a hot radiator and had to deal with a large metal leg that made it uncomfortable to sit. The waiter took our order, but one of our drinks was unavailable. We both ordered the chicken and mushroom pie with dauphinoise potatoes and seasonal vegetables. The service was quick, but when our meals arrived, the waiter asked if we wanted gravy, only to then inform us they didn't have any. The pie was delicious, although lacking in mushrooms. It would have been even better with gravy. The vegetables, tender stem broccoli and green beans, were far from tender and were cold. They were so difficult to cut that I couldn't even eat them. Overall, we were disappointed with the meal. While we have enjoyed their cream teas in the past, we will be avoiding their cooked meals in the future."

"idyllic pub, in an idyllic village, at the rande of the idyllic dartmoors. I wish it was my local. last week had lunch here in the pretty beer garden on a magnificent september day. calamari was incredible, I could have dumped her until they came out of mine! Pan-fried venison haunch with red wine and jus jus was also an absolute triumph. the dogs get in the usually a weed-tedbit, but that was just too tasty, so I tasted it all up to the beats of the beats. I was a little surprised to tell them the truth about how good that was eating, as I think I am so used to publishing food that is quite disappointing and uninspired. but that was an unforgettable lunch that was all washed down with a few cold Tarka beds in the sunshine. what a great day it was!"

"We came here as a family of 5 for food and drinks on our break to Newton Abbot. We entered and were taken to our table, asked if we wanted drinks and ordered food quite quickly. The drinks came out and food came out, the food was lovely, good portions, we all enjoyed it up to this point. However once our food came out it was then as though we were invisible, nobody asked if everything was ok with our meals, if we wanted another drink. We sat there for half an hour with empty plates and empty glasses. Having decided that this was enough we all got up to leave and pay at the bar. We would’ve had desserts if we’d been offered, overall experience brought down by the poor overall service."
