"cau, as kuh said, is a kooky Argentineian inspired chain of restaurants in the south of englands. with two locations in london in blackheath and kingston, the cau presents a picky brunch crowd a series of traditional Argentinean dresses with a clearly English swirl. in a fantastic location with views over the heath, cau blackheath is a relaxing option for south london restaurants. go hungry to meat, though, as south american’s are known for their love of meat at cau, not disappointed in this the inner is in a cool monochrome palette and seemingly a total scream of the cow that inspires the restaurant. we decided to sit outside and catch the last summer, but the weather turned...read more"

After trying one of Cau's burgers during the Foodies Festival on the Heath, I have since had the opportunity to visit the restaurant and have been 3 times

I couldn't resist the invitation to a Master Class at CAU restaurant in Blackheath last week, where I learned how to make empanadas and experienced Argentine street food. CAU, a restaurant group inspired by Buenos Aires, is located just a short walk from the subway station with a view of the beautiful All Saints Church. The group also supports charitable actions against hunger.

Our trip to Cau in Blackheath was rather disappointing. The service and food quality fell short of expectations. The menu was extensive, but dining with Cau veterans helped us make our decisions. Many of us opted for the Choripan sandwich, which was well cooked but could have used a better bread-to-Chorizo ratio. The maic was a letdown, as it lacked seasoning, leaving it tasteless. We had to add salt ourselves to avoid an essentially bland truffle flavor.

A Sunday roast is best enjoyed at someone else's home, a pub, or a restaurant. For me, it's too much trouble with not enough reward to cook one myself, and the cleanup takes away from the enjoyment of eating it. Fortunately, CAU restaurants have introduced a Sunday lunch to their menu - featuring a roast rump of beef, Yorkshire pudding, josper roast carrots, beef fat roast potatoes, red wine gravy, and onion rings for per person. The location of our local CAU in Blackheath used to be a no-frills Mexican restaurant that is hard to come by in London (except in Greenwich where there are many). The Cactus Pit was where we would indulge in sizzling mediocre food. View menu

The name of this newish Blackheath restaurant is by no means cryptic. Cau is wordplay on cow and given that I don't eat beef, I was concerned about whether I had any place being in an establishment like this. Reassuringly, a quick sweep of the website started to tickle the tastebuds and I spotted many items I could eat in amongst the cow options for the rest of you, including small-plate tapas –style options I arrived at a bustling restaurant, just light and loud enough to rope in young crowds and friendly and welcoming enough to keep a loyal fan base. Blackheath seems to have a rapid turnover of restaurants and mastering the secret to staying grounded in this environment is...read more
