"I have been coming here since it opened. Chai street has always been an absolutely fantastic place to eat. The food is amazing and the service is second to none. This was proven to me again today when I ordered a take away through a third party app. My food was delivered to the wrong address and subsequently never arrived. The Chai street staff we absolutely amazing at sorting it out for me, even though it is not their responsibility once they have given the food to the delivery driver. I cannot recommend this place enough both for the service and the food. If I could give more then 5 stars I would."

Amazing thali, food was very authentic. Decor gives a great ambience. This is my favorite restaurant in Wales. Would highly recommend.

Very disappointing. Expected something special, but food was below average, lack of taste and fineness. Friendly service if a little slow! View menu

fantastic fresh food made before them, the closest to wagamama to a quarter of the price. there is a reason why they win every year. pictures come from their new location in the Cardiff Centre. Look at it!

this is a good opportunity for us we are nurses and get 15% of our collection ordering and its one away to be for us now after work! eating is fresh, healthy and is cooked right in front of them. the personal is always polite and the business is always clean and welcoming! would all my friends and my family come back.

great place for some delicious noodles. I work around the corner and I come the most days for the lunchtime deal it always meets the place. for less the one fifth I get a big box of noodles and a dose. much better the amount of meals that offer only a cold sandwich, crisp and drink. this place is also half! would they have tried again from them before. My husband and I visited this place tonight from great reviews online. The service was excellent and the food was delicious! Beautiful cool atmosphere. Next time we're in Cardiff and enjoying Indians... we skip the excessively formal places and eat your hands down here easily! I enjoyed the Mango Lassi and the lamb plate. My husband and I both have separate records, but our friends shared one and were just fine. Felt in the end and is happy to eat again!

The decor here really stands out. Many Indian restaurants play it safe to fit with white tablecloths and a sanitary aesthetic. Chai Street decides to look you in India with wooden tables, light bulbs, Bollywood posters everywhere your eyes look, and to fit the music! The food was quite brilliant, we have the Special Thali and the Indian Lemonade. Can't say enough good about the lemonade, big zanginess and sweetness. The Thali is a dish that comes with four different curries, rice, naan and a potato samosa. A great idea if you can't decide to commit to which curry.

"It was the most bizarre experience dining here. First when we arrived in the restaurant, our group set up was that there was someone on each end who was sitting facing an empty chair on the other side of the table. Upon enquiry we understood it was a covid measure, however never had any other restaurants requesting such seating arrangements in the past 20 months. We ordered two split pots, a non-spicy broth for one side of the pot and a spicy broth for the other side. The staff came to confirm that we wanted spicy/non-spicy in each pot. Yes, we said. To our shock when the pots came, one pot was spicy/spicy on both side, and the other was non-spicy/non-spicy on both sides. This was after the staff had came by to confirm that we wanted a spicy/non-spicy set-up, and in the usual situation a person wanting a spicy broth would not have asked for a split pot. We raised this to the staff and were clearly unhappy about it, though did not insist on having the broths changed around. What happened next made it the most awkward and uncomfortable dining experience ever. From where we were sitting, we could hear the owner reprimanding the staff for the error, throughout our meal. We understand mistakes occur and if the owner was unhappy about the mistake and genuinely wanted to apologise, taking the initiative to change the broth to the right setup, or a complimentary drink or dish would have gone a long way. But no, he chose to reprimand the staff within our hearing for the whole dinner (which didn't help the situation one bit and made the experience worse! . We felt sorry for the staff. Even with the hospitality shortage, that was a completely wrong way to help the staff improve, nor help retain them in the long run. I don't remember anything about the food, although photos did show a good range to choose from. At the end of the meal we each received a box of hello panda, which might have helped, if not for the fact they were expired. All in all, would not recommend."
