"We went for lunch and chose to have the 14€ complet meal - 5 courses plus wine. The first course was a tasty pea soup, accompanied by homemade herby croutons.....superb! A tureen containing more than enough for two large bowls each. Next came a melon and Parma ham dish, with a nicely dressed side salad and fresh bread. The melon was beautifully ripe and tasty and there was a generous portion of ham too. The main dish was a large quarter of roast chicken on a bed of garlic mash with onion gravy. The chicken had been cooked very well and was tasty and tender. The mash was very well seasoned and just the right amount .The cheese board came next with 6 generous slabs of well chosen assorted cheeses, all of which were really tasty. The meal was finished off with a slice of chocolate torte and creme anglais with a fruit drizzle. My daughter is not keen on many desserts, so I asked if they had some vanilla ice cream instead, and they were very obliging in finding some for her, which was much appreciated. The red wine , included in the price, was also delicious and complemented the meal well. The service was superb; friendly and efficient. The meal represents astonishingly good value for money and I have yet to find somewhere in the Dordogne which provides better quality of food at such a competitive price. Definitely a must for anyone staying in the region."

What a great eatery and what great value. Soup starter. Onion quiche. Magret with cherry sauce and chips. Cheese. Dessert. Wine 14 Euros per head. Very welcoming. We sat outside on their small terrace.

We had Sunday lunch here on 7May. Soup, starter, main course, cheese, desert and a small carafe of wine for 14 euros. What's not to like. The food was simple but beautifully cooked. Lovely afternoon. Highly recommend this place.

This is the best value restaurant in the area. Fixed menu for around €14 for five courses. No glamour just honest freshly cooked food. Run by Lorraine and Alex, I can't recommend the place enough. I've eaten there many times and never been disappointed. Highly recommended. Open lunches and Sunday lunch only.

Be aware that the single menu means any differences need signalling in advance - we had misunderstood, and gave the kitchen no notice of our vegetarians. They gamely rustled up excellent food to go alongside our wonderful carte of soup, pate, beef bourguinonne. Cheese was plentiful, and the desert was lovely. Children shared one portion.Thank you!

Took my mother here for lunch - this is the typical French working mans lunch restaurant which sadly only exist now in provincial France. At lunchtime, these offer copious amounts of home cooked food at an amazing value. For 14 euros a person we had a delicious vegetable soup, followed by a tuna and rice based starter and a copious dish of the day which today was beef bourguignon. This was followed by a selection of cheese from a help yourself board and a crème brûlée and included 1/4 litre of wine per person. The environment is calm, clean and correct. The service appropriate, and frankly what more do you want for 14 euros - not worth the effort of cooking it all at that price. There are als...

14 euro per head! Unbelievable! This place defies belief! We had a superbly cooked meal for the princely sum of 14 euro per head (including 1/4 l per wine per person)It is a set menu, so no choices, so you get what you are given and leave what you do not want. For starters we had vegetable soup (superb) with the most delicious croutons that I have ever eaten, followed by a tasty couscous salad. The main was tartiflette (excellent) which was then followed by a very respectable cheese board and THEN a rather scrummy chocolate mouse! The wine was also very agreeable and went down a treat! Would I go back? Yes, in fact I would visit that area of France again just to go there! Would I recommend?...

"We visited Em's on the recommendation of my father, who lives nearby and is a frequent diner here. The restaurant is in a fairly remote location, far from the beaten track but is most definitely worth taking the time to find. The restaurant is very much part of Em's house, and as such has a really friendly and welcoming feel to it from the moment you arrive. We chose to eat outside as it was a lovely evening, and enjoyed the beautiful views from our table . The amuse bouche was a tasty combination of puff pastry, cheese, sun dried tomato and garlic and arrived with a sparkling rose wine. For our starter we had garlic mushrooms with a delicious dipping sauce. When Em cleared our starter plates she asked us all how we liked our steaks cooked, to ensure we all got exactly what we wanted. The main course of Tournedos Rossini was absolutely stunning. The generously sized fillet steak was melt in the mouth and full of incredible flavour. The foie gras was equally indulgent and melted wonderfully, blending into the delicious sauce. This sat on a bed of well seasoned mash and was accompanied by some French beans, wrapped in a parcel by a rasher of tasty bacon, and there were some sweet flavoursome carrots artistically arranged on top. We all cleared our plates and enjoyed every single mouthful.Dessert was a chocolate trio, consisting of a chocolate fondant ( timed perfectly so that the centre was just the right amount of ooziness) , a dark chocolate chip ice cream and a creamy white chocolate mousse, topped with a chocolate dipped raspberry garnish. A chocoholics idea of heaven! A very pleasant carafe of red wine accompanied our meal. My dad and his wife both had a coffee in gorgeous little coffee cups to finish the meal, along with an After Eight each. The whole dining experience was wonderful, from start to finish and was very good value at 30€ per person.Em also sells a wide range of beautiful jewellery and assorted items, which are on display inside her gorgeous house. My daughter was delighted to find several pairs of earrings which she bought as souvenirs and gifts for her friends. Added bonus!I would urge anyone staying in the Riberac/ Verteillac area to make sure to fit in a visit to Em's Cuisine. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed."
