"The food was ok; we were a little disappointed as we had previously eaten in your Chelsea restaurant and I was raving about the chicken moussakhan. Three of us wanted the dish on our visit to Manchester, but unfortunately it wasn't available that night. Otherwise the food was ok. It was the service that was really poor. We asked for extra flatbreads and despite being quiet they took a long time to arrive perhaps 20 minutes, we had to ask 3 times for them. Customer service was poor we weren't asked once if we had had a good meal. It was rather disappointing really as it was a birthday treat for 3 of our guests, which I had stated in the booking. Unlike some restaurants no mention of our birthdays were made"

The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. The house wine was also quite enjoyable.

I visited Comptoir Libanais to catch up with some friends. We had made a reservation, but it was fairly quiet on a Tuesday night, so it turned out we didn't need to. View menu

I recommend this restaurant. Located in the lively area of Spinningfields, it is in close proximity to other popular dining spots. I particularly enjoyed my experience there at night.

Fantastic authentic Lebanese cuisine, which you can tell is all cooked fresh and from scratch. The decor and atmosphere was top class, so we'll put together. Will absolutely be back in the future. P. S. Get the mixed grill.

The thing that I didn’t like is that they brought the side dishes first then after a while they brought the starter with two mains and after we finished eating they remembered to bring the third main dish. I don’t like to complain but I’ll not consider coming again. View menu

The restaurant is really beautiful, but it was chilly every time the door opened, and I noticed diners wearing coats while eating. I was also surprised they didn't have any chips; I never understand why restaurants don't just go out and get some if they're out of stock. Instead, I was served small square roast potatoes with my burger. They were tasty, but I felt they were unnecessary.

Used to enjoy it, but the service was slow, then the noise level, as it so many places these days rose. So we sat in a circle on our mobile phones, unable to talk and waited for the delayed food to arrive. We don’t drink much for health reasons, and driving, so slowly getting drunk or noisy like the table next was out. It’s getting so that I avoid going out in the evenings especially where clients use the place to drink, or there’s background music that everyone has to shout over. There’s nothing worse than trying to have a conversation over a female singer in full passionate mode, or in this case, full on mad Lebanese wedding music belting out.

Alborz

Alborz

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."
