"For the business traveller evenings are a challenge. Either you live on room service or spend a small fortune in the hotel restaurant. Eating a meal cooked by a Michelin starred chef in a beautiful restaurant served by fabulous waiters - all paid for by someone else - on my own is soul destroying. What is good is being able to go our for a decent, reasonably priced meal somewhere used by locals. Welcome to the Corner Cafe. Approaching the cafe the buzz is good. There is a highly French mixture of tobacco smoke and animated discussion in the air. The music is hip but not too loud to interrupt chatter. The menu is just right. There is nothing original but on the other hand there is something for everyone, even vegetarians. As well as main meals there are sandwiches and soup options. There is a range of cheeses as well as desserts for those so inclined. There is a decent range of wines (listed by grape variety) and a selection of beers. My Pinot Noir was pretty decent for the price. What I had I enjoyed. My fries were excellent and Cafe Gourmet was a lovely end to the meal. Service was good - I sat outside and watched the world go by with a glass of wine. When i needed someone they appeared but otherwise I could enjoy the place undisturbed.I really enjoyed myself. Eating alone is a chore, but with the animated atmosphere I came away relaxed and content for a budget friendly price. i returned to my hotel ready for a good night's sleep. That's the mark of a good restaurant."
