"We have been to cotes many times 9 out of 10 times it has been excellent. This was a 19:30 Sunday evening birthday booking to be fair, a glass of kir royal was given to me on arrival. We ordered our food which on the whole was excellent.....The Ribeye steak was perfectly medium rare....The Breton Chicken was delicious and, once again being served as a spatchcocked half chicken, after a brief spell of getting two legs for half a chicken!! A couple of things spoilt the almost perfect evening; The opening page of the Cotes website is a crab...guess what? No crab maison! When asked if we needed any condiments for our meal........ No vinegar.!...How can you have a restaurant without vinegar?, You can't serve chips without vinegar...... Especially when there is a Co-op supermarket 100 yards away!! The other thing I would point out was that i didn't think that gratin dauphinois potatoes, which accompanied the chicken was french for slices of undercooked potatoes in milk! because that's how it came! For some reason the atmosphere, especially from the staff was fairly cold. As though something had happen earlier. On past occasions the staff have always been talkative friendly. I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but it felt as if something was wrong. There was a very large party in there, so it might have been the pressure of that. We like going to Cotes, and despite these small doubts will continue to visit. My advice to the restaurant?......iron out these small faults quickly, because the big guns....ie Wagamama, Mama Loves Spaghetti, Giggling Squid etc. are moving in!! also.......get some vinegar!! A good, reliable option. The food is tasty and the staff are professional. The wine is kept very well. It’d be nice to see the menu updated every now and then …

We were a large party of 19 diners, served by Henry. Speaking personally I can recommend this Restaurant wholeheartedly. The meal was well cooked, delicious and expertly serve by Henry, who did an amazing, professional job serving the meals and drinks brilliantly.

Whilst some of the food was lovely, the fish stew lacked a lot of flavour and we had to add quite a lot of Salt/ pepper to it. The sauce that came with the salmon was also very average, and just wasn’t worth the high price. However, the service was fast and staff attentive.

Very short of stock of soft drinks, but got 3rd choice and tap water. Very limited choice on 2 courses menu for gluten free. Asked for starter salad to be main course size. Not possible apparently. Can’t understand why. Sorbet and coffee were good. Noticeable change in recent years. View menu

My partner and I visited this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary as walk-ins, and we were glad we did. We were taken care of so well by the waitress and general manager. The food was delicious and the service was perfect. We have already recommended this place to others! Thank you for making our night so special.

I can't speak highly enough of this restaurant from the moment we arrived to when we left. The atmosphere is delightful, the food is amazing (and they catered very well for my gluten intolerance), and the staff were attentive and accommodating throughout the evening. The only downside was the surcharge, but overall it was a fantastic first visit and we will definitely be returning. Thank you for a wonderful evening!

The restaurant had a small menu with uninteresting options and several dishes were unavailable that night. The salmon croquettes for the table were hardly touched before the starters arrived. The calamari and crab starters were decent. The burger was overcooked, and the replacement minute steak was too salty. The roast chicken dish was okay but not enjoyable. The staff were very nice, polite, and apologetic, and the bill was generously reduced. However, overall, it was a disappointing experience. View menu

This Cote has gone downhill or has had a bad night when we went. We've been coming here off and on for about the 10 years it has been open and this last occasion was the worst by far. The service was good and the waitress we had was very nice. Sadly the food was very expensive for what you get and even after spending £34 for a starter/main and side my wife was still hungry, that's how little the food is. The portions are way too small and they were not of high quality either, sorry to say. There are better options nearby and we won't be coming back here for a long time if ever.

We had an early dinner at Cote and ate from the set menu, the starters were fine and the service at that stage was ok, we waited 15 minutes for the starter plates to be removed and then another 5 minutes for the main courses to be served, it was blatantly obvious that both meals had sat on the pass for a long time under lights, the sea bass skin had frazzled and the chicken was difficult to cut, we were offered 2 free drinks and the meals replaced, there were only 4 customers in the restaraunt at that time but the staff were having a good time in the bar area with lots of laughter while we had to go and get them to complain, stay clear dont reward poor service and poor decision making in sen...

"I'll start with the positives. The interaction I had on Facebook to book a table, and then change the booking, was very positive. The two young waitresses who served us were great. The pub is shabby with rubbish and cigarette butts scattered outside the door...and a smell of smoke in the doorway. The décor is tired and tatty, and the bench seat in the restaurant area has a big split in it. The floor of the restaurant had bits of food and other rubbish on it. The salt and pepper and vinegar bottle didn't look like they'd been cleaned for a few days. The food was uninspiring, and mostly overcooked. The Yorkshire puddings were burnt black and were mostly inedible (when we commented on this, the waitress said she was too scared of the chef to say anything to him). The roast potatoes were hard and tough. The vegetables (not enough for 6 of us from one dish) were not great and the cauliflower cheese was the most uninspiring I've had for a long time. The lamb was OK, but that's all I can say about it. The whole menu (apart from a goat's cheese salad) was dull and unimaginative, even allowing for the fact that for Sunday lunch on Mother's Day most people want roasts. We didn't bother staying to have desserts. I thought from the TripAdvisor reviews that we were going to a gastropub, or a pub with a super restaurant. It was like having a meal in a pub 30 years ago, which is fine if that's what you want. It was a dreadful experience and not at all the way we wanted to celebrate my son's birthday and Mother's Day. We will not go back again."
