"I really wanted to give this lovely café 5 stars, but I had to mark them down because of the amount of time I was kept waiting just to be acknowledged and eventually served. Upon entering the café I asked at the counter if I had to wait to be seated, the lady told me to grab a table and someone would be with me soon. Twenty minutes I waited to be served, and during that time a lady from another table approached the counter and complained that her party had been waiting for quite some time and still hadn’t been served which proves I wasn’t the only customer who felt like they’d been forgotten about. I should add that I was there around 3.30pm which isn’t exactly peak trading hours. If the café was heaving with customers I could understand the wait, but it really wasn’t that busy, and I felt the customers sat outside were treated as priority rather than customers sat inside which was where I was. Customers who arrived after I did and sat outside were served long before me. I understand that it can get busy, but it would have been nice to have at least been acknowledged, rather than having staff seemingly to purposely ignore making eye contact with me. I was just about to leave when one of the staff saw me and apologised for my wait. I ordered a Chai Latte and toasted tea cake, which didn’t take long to arrive and were delicious. The decor is beautiful, and it really is a lovely café, but for future reference please acknowledge waiting customers, rather than just pretending they aren’t there!"

"Where do I begin? We walked past this restaurant and noticed the sign saying it was fully booked. On a whim, we decided to check for a cancellation, and to our delight, we were able to secure a table. If you plan to dine here, I highly recommend making a reservation at least a week in advance! The lovely staff member was incredibly helpful with her recommendations, and if you're a lobster lover, this is definitely the place to be. We shared the largest lobster available, which weighed just under 3 pounds, and it was the perfect portion for two. The scallops we had as a starter were delicious, complemented perfectly by a nice Chablis. The retro decor added to the charm, and we truly enjoyed our experience there. The service was fantastic, making it a wonderful treat for us. So again, be sure to book in advance to savor the local seafood delights!"

"This place was busy on the Saturday but we managed to get in for breakfast on the Sunday. We ordered 2 big breakfasts and coffees. We did ask for poached eggs and were met with a very strange expression. The waiter explained that he didn’t think the chef could do that. I nearly asked if chef new how to boil water but held my tongue. The table behind us had requested proper butter for their toast instead of sachets provided (not sure why). The waitress advised them to walk to the local shop and buy some! The shop didn’t open for another 40 minutes but this response was so comical I didn’t correct her. Surely, the waitress could’ve asked why the provided butter wasn’t acceptable (allergies/dietary)? We sat bemused and waited. Our coffee arrived but my latte was lukewarm at best and very weak. A few minutes later, breakfast arrived and we had a fried egg each. Poaching was clearly beyond the skill of chef. Bacon was shown the pan but not for very long. Fat wasn’t rendered. Sausages were deep fried a massive pet hate of mine it just smacks of laziness in the kitchen. Beans were cold. My wife’s hash browns had been stuck together in the fryer, so only one side cooked. We reported these issues to the waitress who apologised but offered no solutions. We paid, left, and didn’t return. To sum up a shambles"

"Arrived on a wet Saturday afternoon with my wife and dog, all of us very wet and muddy having walked the coast path from the other side of Looe. We asked if they were happy with our bedraggled state and couldn’t have had a warmer welcome from both staff and locals. One of the ladies got us seated by the window were we spent a long afternoon eating beautifully prepared food with great local ales and well priced wine. A very memorable afternoon in a beautiful old pub made extra special by the great staff. Highly recommended and would love to visit again sometime."
