"I really wanted to love this place, as it is a charming local cafe with outdoor seating that always catches my eye as I walk by. However, after visiting twice, I can't see myself going back. Despite being willing to overlook a more relaxed service style, the staff just doesn't seem to care, making the experience less than enjoyable. Both times, I had to request menus and wait to place my order as no one came over (and it seemed others around me experienced the same issue). Additionally, on both occasions, the food was missing key components - my coffee was missing syrup on the first visit, and the second time there was no ham in my ham and cheese croissant. It's a shame that the restaurant's potential is being hindered by the staff's lack of attention to detail. They may be nice, but they need to step up their game in terms of customer service."

A really friendly place with great food and coffee. Top location. We sat outside in the sunshine watching the world go by. Music was spot on too if you like disco/soulful beats

No pressure. Welcoming. Outside tables near a little grass. Inside some old wood stuff and shiny metal trunking. Good choice from omnivorous and veggie selection of quality basics. Coffee OK too.

Definitely not a place to go when in a hurry. Friendly staff but you’ll find yourself waiting for even a basic coffee. Good place to unwind no doubt, but no more than an ok place to pop into if you are passing by. View menu

I liked my vegetarian plate, but I also helped myself to my boyfriends sausage disgusting. Also the giant beans we had cane cold in me middle, they were not reheated properly. Also my kale was just taken out of water boring and flavourless.

I have been frequenting this restaurant nearly every day since September. It holds a special place in my heart because the staff is incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the food is top-notch. The adorable dog Louis is always a joy to be around and loves to play. This is definitely my favorite cafe in London.

After hearing great things about the Curious Yellow Kafe on Pitfield Street from my young colleague, we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, the woman working there was alone and unable to make coffee, so we chose one of the daily specials instead - a roasted dhal soup served with rustic bread. It was absolutely delicious. View menu

Everyone in or around Shoreditch should visit this cafe. The charming Persian lady, Shoko, makes an amazing iced coffee. It reminded me of the iced coffee we used to have in Sri Lanka, back in the 80s. It's one of my all time favourite drinks. One also comes across interesting people here. The location is ideal as the area is never crowded and one doesn't feel rushed. Shoko is very welcoming, charming and friendly.

I’m not exaggerating when I write this review. My friend and I ordered two breakfast plates at 13:13 and did not get our food until 13:52. The staff did not check up on us and was unapologetic when I went up to check on my food.It was not even busy... I ordered the eggs Benedict and the eggs were over cooked. It was very bland and sloppy. You would hung the food would’ve came out perfect due to the long wait but I guess not. Stay away and go to the surrounding cafes.

"A friend and I stumbled on to this neighbourhood restaurant by chance; no research, no booking, no expectations. We were then blown away by the quality of the food: wonderfully fresh fish, beautifully cooked. The service is also exemplary. I've always enjoyed calamari, but this was by far the best I've ever had: truly succulent and juicy. The mussels were almost as good, and the sea bream kept up the standard. The spiced quince with ice cream made a nice change from baclava in a Turkish restaurant (they still threw in some baclava). The owner, Tony, provides excellent recommendations — make sure you take them! He knows what's fresh that morning, and how his wife cooks it. The bill comes hand-written, and Tony forgot to include the wine (obviously I corrected him). I can't remember the last time a restaurant bill made a mistake in the customers' favour! No service charge is included, and it deserves a lot more than the usual 12.5%. This is a wonderful, old-fashioned restaurant, run by a charming old couple, committed to maintaining old-fashioned standards. The food is more than great and the prices more than reasonable. Service is personal, honest and responsive (providing Tony turns his hearing aid on). Tony warns you if anything you wanted was bought in, rather than home-made. Why don't unassuming but wonderful restaurants like this get Michelin stars?"
