"we have brought the good reviews at tripadvisor to this restaurant. After I had run the feet all day at the ironman in hamburg, I was glad that we had not far from the hotel to the restaurant. We had a table reserved and returned to fifth in the village. the ambiente is rustic but not old-fashioned, we felt right well. next to the normal card, there is also a tag card on a chalkboard. we decided to carve twice with bratkartoffel, a barbarian breast with pfifferlingsrisotto, a thunfischsteak with salat and once roasted goat cheese. all the main dishes provided a bright spirit. there was a fantastic chardonnay that was perfect for eating. a part of us still decided to dessert and so we came into the pleasure of a chocolate passion fruit tart with clay-cabe-mascarpone ice cream or baked berries with strawberry. the desserts were also a real high pleasure. all in all, the evening in the village was a successful conclusion of our visit in hamburg and we will look back there again with certainty next time!"

one of the more German restaurants in the basement. low ceiling and limited lighting create the frame for good food that can be both traditional and innovative.

good bourgeois cuisine like scholle, schnitzel, rouladen and co .. but tasty made and in front of all in neat quality. prices are not cheap, but also not too expensive. the wood panelling and deco in the landseat style should be seen once;)

found this restaurant by chance at strolling in hamburg. what a sound! that was divine. we tried the duenbrustrisotto and the ochsenbacken, both were fabulous. the crème brlée was also excellent. our waiter, florian, was very funny and had an excellent recommendation from the wine card. Old World Decor and full character, this place should be on top of the visitor list if they have a free evening in hamburg.

this is a great restaurant with creative German cuisine in the interesting and central st. George's quarter of hamburg. eating was great, as was the wine in the glass. the service was good and friendly. the entrance is somewhat hidden, since the restaurant is partly underground. they see the number of the place on an apotheken sign and google maps placed it something down the road. the inner is cozy, but I enjoyed eating outside. I look forward to coming back and tasting some other dishes. View menu

my wife introduced me the village a few months ago during our apartment search in hamburg. I was addicted. from the venue to the food to the service everything is first class. Now that we finally moved to hamburg, I believe that the village will visit us regularly. eating is very good and the service is even better. I love the venue, it is simple, but very cozy and comfortable. the portions are generous, so order them with care. another note: if you read the English menu on the website, it may not agree with the actual menu of the restaurant, just so that the readers know it. a jewel of a restaurant in hamburg.

1. the table reservation for 9 people via pc worked perfectly. friends later booked another table for 5 people and sat next door. a pristine atmosphere! I stood before and looked at the address of my confirmation and only noticed that I was standing before (it goes to souterrain!). warm interior, friendly, unaffected welcome. attentive service with sweat and charm, so it already made fun to order the excellent wein. the dishes at the table were all excellent: labskaus, wiener schnitzel with bratkartoffeln, the grandiose ochsenbäckle, the nudeln, the pfifferlingrahmsüppchen, the finkwerder scholle. Ok-the water is usually overpriced everywhere. but we didn't care about that, and shouldn't be...

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
