"was treated to a late birthday meal here by my better half. we arrived slightly early and were shown to the bar area to sit in comfort for a pre dinner drink with apologies for our table not being quite ready (even though our fault for being early). We were then taken through to our table by a very polite and attentive waitress who gave us the time and space to make our orders. The food was as you would expect absolutely amazing and the portion size was in my mind the exact right amount (none of this micro portions). I can highly recommend the Scallops starter and the Monkfish main course. We felt the pricing was also spot on for the standard of the food and quality of service. As an additional note being an accessibility toilet user due to a condition this place has one of the BEST accessibility facilities that i have seen in a restaurant with anything and everything being catered for despite your medical condition. An amazing meal, facilities and staff and we shall certainly be returning in the future."

Had another great meal in this reliable and great quality restaurant. Four of us enjoyed delicious food, with excellent service and it didn’t cost the earth. Lovely wines and an excellent bubbly atmosphere. 100% reliable!

Good range of menu items; Good food (we had monk fish and blade of beef) both were good dishes and value-for-money portion sizes. Nice, comfortable modern venue enhanced by friendly staff and attentive but non-intrusive service ..We were made to feel welcome and valued customers. We will definitely return.

Visited yesterday. Table booked for 5pm. Good attentive staff. I ate from the pre theatre menu which of course is limited but had what I wanted. Risotto was delicious as was the dessert. My husband ate from main menu and thoroughly enjoyed his burger and pannacotta. Great atmosphere. Our second visit and we will definitely be back. View menu

Had lunch here while on pre Christmas visit to Belfast. We were welcomed by friendly staff and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very good. Our food was very good and service was excellent. As we were on a tight time schedule we were assured we would we out within an hour so service was prompt we had time to spare. The restaurant is close to city centre and definitely worth a visit.

As usual our choice from the lunch menu was really tasty haddock, risotto linguine. Unfortunately this is now the second time I have been here in recent times when the service has been poor. Other than when we were seated, we had to try and get the attention of the staff on 3 occasions, firstly to order our lunch and then a further 2 times to order drinks. Staff were scarce on the floor and appeared to be under pressure.

We spend a nice evening at Deanes Deli. Although the food was lovely and everything we needed after a great day on the road, the service was so poor. We were ignored when we walked in (we had made a reservation), not walked to our seat but pointed out from the door, we ordered cocktails and they were put on our table without letting us know which one was which. So I had to ask another waiter what was in front of us. When they took the plates from the starters they did not ask if we had enjoyed it. Same with the mains. When we had the bill the waiter was standing over us while we were putting money down. It felt weird. View menu

Had a late lunch last week, not our first time dining here and I had always meant to set up a TA account so congratulations on receiving my first review! Late afternoon so wasn’t busy, service was good, polite and courteous staff. Went for the bread starter (two shared between five of us and the squid main (beautiful with the Bailey’s panna cotta for dessert. Food was served promptly and my only tiny gripes are that there wasn’t enough of the squid (me being greedy but make sure to get a side if you’re hungry which was delicious and the panna cotta could have had more Bailey’s (I jest . Will always recommend Deane’s and look forward to dining in one of your restaurants again very soon :

Food well cooked and tasty enough. But for a tapas menu in the wine bar, unimaginative and left wanting. Maybe they do this to introduce you to the other menu in the main restaurant, which we did and found portion control to be a tad too extreme. Price point was a tad gougey for the food. On the upside, a decent enough wine list which showed some imagination and wasn't gougey. Probably wouldn't go back, other than for a glass of wine as there are far too many other places in Belfast offering good imaginative food at the right price point. On aside, Does Michael Deane love himself of what??? The decor showed nothing but images and portraits of himself. Even row upon row of empty bottles of a...

"enjoyed our evening in james st it was the best culinary experience of our trip! we had been happy to see this evening as we had a few hit-N-seals in the course of our trip to belfast. we were not disappointed and had the fabulous evening. we were quickly welcomed and sitting. the place is beautiful and spacious. revitalized and environment. the bar is great and would like to come back, only for drinks at the bar sometime. we ordered cocktails immediately. an Irish gin negroni and a traditional old fashion. my neger was absolutely excellent. I think the old fashion could have been done with real sugar cubes and not sugar syrup, but it wasn't too bad. we were quick to choose our wein. we chose a beautiful juicy red, the cline, the old vine zinfandel, 2019. to begin we had the ham hock terrine with piccalilli champ bread and some scallops with boar bell. the hanging-hock court was the best ham-hock I had. the homemade piccalilli was something else. really nice crispy and sharp sharp to help cut through the hammock and the champbrot was delicious crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside. the scallops and black bells were disappointing, as they lacked no salt or genuine aroma or texture between them. we still ate it and shared the rest of my hammock. we both decided to go for the co. tyrone 270g fillet steak with sides of champ and truffle parmesan chips. red wine and pfeffer sauce. they were fantastic steaks. Actually, I didn't think I would finish mine, but I did. I have met the right choice with the jus and the truffle chips. they went so well together, the dryness of the parmesan and sweet, slightly greasy of the jus. the steaks were perfectly cooked. a medium and my medium rare. fantastic aroma on the grilled outside of the steak and beautiful texture when they pierce. we both agreed that the champ was the best champ we ever cost. it was hot, soft, so well aromatized with hot butter on the top of the copper serving pot melt. it was really the most incredible champ. I was too full of dessert. but my sample ordered the sticky toffee pudding sundae. the team was friendly enough to make me an espresso martini that was both decaf and not a sugar syrup. it was brilliant. we both managed to work our way, although a surprisingly light sticky toast desserts on Sunday. the team was fantastic. very friendly and chatting to us. the bar team did not stop, I had the pleasure of standing and watching them make a great selection of drinks and cocktails. the waiting staff were also very friendly when they check in with us at comfortable places to ensure that we were in order. we felt very well looked around. the service was very good, we didn't feel any hurry, it felt like such a free time in this restaurant. when we come back to belfast, we will be back in absolute terms and we will definitely recommend others. Thank you."
