"While traveling on the NC500 route, my companions and I stopped in Dornoch for the night. Hungry and in need of a meal, we stumbled upon The Coach House and were pleasantly surprised. Despite not having a reservation, we were warmly welcomed and seated promptly. The staff even accommodated my husband's mobility issues by rearranging the table for easier access. The menu had a wide selection and our dishes arrived quickly and did not disappoint. The men ordered scampi, which was plentiful, while my friend and I opted for the pie, which was simply delicious. I had the chicken pie, filled with plenty of meat and a tasty sauce. The men indulged in desserts, which arrived promptly after the mains – peach cobbler and a generous slice of chocolate and caramel cheesecake. The staff were friendly and attentive, and if we lived closer, we would definitely make regular visits to this fantastic restaurant."

We waited 30 minutes after being seated for menus and drink orders, and a total of 1 hour and 45 minutes from sitting down until we received our main course. The food was satisfactory.

We had lunch here, it was very quiet and we didn't need to book. The food was all freshly made and my fussy water daughter really enjoyed hers too. The staff were friendly and helpful and it was all reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend

This is a charming establishment with very friendly staff and helpful locals. The celebrating couple at the bar even offered us birthday cake, which we politely declined but bought them a drink in return. This pub is truly lovely and definitely worth checking out.

Great little local pub with a mixture of locals and tourists. Under new owners for a few years. Which was terrible for them as they bought it just before the pandemic. They used the closure to drastically renovate though and it desperately needed it. Great food, reasonable prices and great service. View menu

Arrived at restaurant having booked a table and received confirmation of booking to be told that restaurant was closed due to a wedding . Extremely annoyed by this as we had driven from outside Glasgow to Dornoch for a weekend stay. Fortunately another local restaurant was able to accommodate us at short notice and we had a lovely meal . Extremely annoyed and disappointed by this flagrant disregard of customers. Cannot comment on food .

I made a reservation at this restaurant months in advance. When we arrived at 7:30, the young waitress informed us that half of the menu items were unavailable. We had to wait a long time for our food, which included breaded haddock and a mixed grill. Unfortunately, the haddock was greasy and the mushy peas looked slightly grey, while the mixed grill was very dry and the carrots were cold. Overall, it was a pretty disappointing dining experience.

Absolutely wonderful dining experience. After attempting to get a table at another bar/restaurant in Dornoch “The Eagle” and the waitress turning us away making some snide comments as our party of 12 left, we went here and the whole experience was wonderful. We were served by Ben who was 10/10- great customer service skills with a great personality and patience when dealing with a large party of people. The service was tremendous, the food was delicious and very reasonable. Would highly recommend View menu

Lovely restaurant with an extensive flexible menu. I had melt in the mouth pork belly with crackling a cider sauce, advertised with fondant potatoes red cabbage but I was offered roasted roots when I said I 'm not fond of red cabbage. My grandson fancied Nachos which were on the lunch menu so was offered them as a starter. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, they were brilliant. Six of us had a 3-course dinner couldn 't fault anything. Would definitely recommend. We had quite a wait for the starters ir I would have given 5* 's.

Horrendous service from start to finish. It seemed strange that there only seemed to be one member of staff on during a holiday weekend and, initially, we felt for him. However, it eventually got beyond a joke. Even though the main course took way too long to come, we mistakenly ordered desert. After waiting more than 45 minutes for it to arrive and still having all our dirty dishes from main course on our table I asked at the bar when we could expect the ice cream that three under fives were waiting on. The rude response from the member of staff who aggressively responded that he was “doing his best” while he walked away from me was entirely unacceptable. I would have left then and there bu...

"Glorified Public School Dinner food hiding behind a beautiful scenic dining area. Server wasn 't too bothered about their job, kinda like it doesn 't matter what food they did and didn 't have in that day. Seemed very excited when leaving the table to tend an empty bar. Didn 't ask once if food was okay, if they had I 'd of mentioned the myriad of wrongs occurring upon the three plates in front of us. Ordered from evening menu, beef burger, chicken burger and garlic bread. The former two came with undercooked chips (as if the fryer was just turned on for our meal), pale onion rings, two dimensional tomato slices (two of per burger), two measly leafs of lettuce and no house sauce of any kind. I 've had tastier PVA glue than the coleslaw. My partners chips were akin to hash browns but undercooked. The beef burger had one thing going for it, there was Infact beef on it. The chicken burger my partner had was tasteless and fell apart. Garlic bread appeared to be some kind of muffin or cinnamon swirl that was re purpoused for our order. Aside it was a teeny tiny salad, which actually contained a highlight from my experience: red onion that actually tasted of onion/unlike the onion dense coleslaw. All in all, me and my partner left feeling like our local kebab shop would have left us more impressed. As we were leaving the server told us she didn 't mind that there was some issues with the card reader as it 'filled her time as she has nothing else to do '. It should be noted they were wearing their outside clothes and served us with the jacket on. Chef was seen at bar after meal, standing not doing much. The main concern for the staff appeared to be; what music was being played as they skipped through the world 's most disorganised playlist (no, no one wants to listen to loch lomond while they are eating). Speaking as a working chef, I feel my wife could cook a better meal with half the ingredients and equipment than this 'professional ' kitchen can. The opertunity to do better is overwhelming, however it will take a long time before you convince me to enter with an empty stomach again. Wheelchair accessibility: It 's not friendly for those that are handicapped in any way. Steep narrow stairs and difficult to navigate room space."
