"We usually love coming to eightea9 but left today feeling very disappointed. My girlfriend ordered ham eggs Benedict with extra avacado. The meal first come out with no hollandaise sauce, in which we had to ask. The ham was freezing on a warmish muffin and Luke warm egg. I ordered the 8 piece breakfast. I had luke warm bacon, had to ask for the hash browns. Considering we was the first customers I find it hard to understand how there were so many mistakes and the food wasn’t piping hot. Also, there was no check back on our food. My girlfriend didn’t eat any of the ham and left most of the rest, however the waitress didn’t seem to care about that. Surely if most of the food was untouched there might have been an issue. I went up to the counter to pay and still no question if the food or anything was ok but happy to take my money anyway! I usually always leave a tip having worked in restaurants for 10+ years, but on this occasion I just didn’t feel like it was justified."

The restaurant offers great service and serves well-presented, high-quality food. There is a decent variety of options to choose from. While the portions may not be large, they are sufficient and of excellent quality.

Very good breakfast. Coffee, granola and pancakes: all very good. Service warm and prompt. Slightly quirky decor which we enjoyed and lots of vintage china. Would certainly return should we be in the area again. Cash only.

I ordered the egg sandwich and it came with tuna on it, which was disappointing for a supposed vegetarian option. This raised concerns about food hygiene. The salad was also not fresh. Overall, I would not return to this restaurant. View menu

Came here one morning for breakfast. Really nice venue inside and very friendly staff. Food comes very quickly and you can customise what you want to have. Everything was cooked to perfection and really tasty. Would strongly recommend you come here for breakfast! Of note, they only take cash (which is a shame in this day and age!

One of my absolute breakfast places- mainly because of the build your own breakfast . Too many restaurants/brunch places have like the full English and get funny when you want to change a few things on it (which I always do) so having the option to choose from a long list of whatever you want is genuinely perfect. Food is lovely, staff very friendly, and good for brekky with friends as they easily do the bill separately. Been like 5 times and will keep coming back!

I had heard great things about this restaurant and attempted to visit a week prior, but it was too crowded. After rescheduling for the following week and being unable to make a reservation, the restaurant agreed to hold a table for us at 11am. Despite this arrangement, we still had to wait in line for 15-20 minutes upon arrival. The "build your own breakfast" option included sausage, bacon, egg, mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, and toast for about £10. Although slightly disappointed by the meal's resemblance to a Wetherspoons breakfast, it was still enjoyable. View menu

We last came to this cafe four years ago and it was good, so very surprised that now it is even better. The seating is now more spaced out and more comfortable. I asked for a pot of tea for one and was surprised when it came. Bone china cup and saucer, teapot with leaf tea and not a tea bag, and tea strainer. Straight away I thought I like this place. I had an English breakfast which was nicely cooked and my wife was pleased with her eggs benedict. I feel I must point out that the sausage and bacon was very tasty. My wife had a flat white coffee which she said was very nice. The food is fairly priced. Also there is a friendly atmosphere. I can find nothing negative about our visit and will b...

I am an English breakfast lover, I’ve try almost all the places from Brentwood I can say that this one is the most expensive “English Breakfast” that I ever had. I had a full English breakfast wich one cost me around £11, is not a bad price if is a good quality…. I ask for scrambled egg and honestly I never see such a tiny bit of scrambled egg, was actually one tablespoon not much not less than that… I just start laughing I thought was a joke… Sausage was nothing special, you can eat better ones on Toby’s Carvery and you pay half of the price wich one they charge We have to wait long time for the bill plus the food was not served at the same time, me and one of my friend have to wait like 2-...

"We used to go to Whittaker's every weekend when visiting Brentwood, and used to recommend it ,it was always expensive, but it was good food and good service, but for the last few months it is going down hill fast! As soon as you go in now ,and...eventually noticed,we are told it will be ,or minutes wait for food,at this point many customers leave. This has happened every time we visit,so we ordered coffee, when we would have ordered food for four people, well we waited, and waited, for a coffee ,after twenty minutes I went up to the kitchen, and was told it's coming, where from Brazil!!!!!! And then nothing! Caught a waitresses eye and asked again, then we got it,and then told if we were not eating could we be quicker as there were people waiting!!!!! Anyone sitting down was told it was a long wait,so most left! That's money walking out the door! And they didn't seem to care! We discovered the reason for this terrible service,a buy came in with a massive deliveroo bag and left after ten minutes with a massive bag of food, they are now doing delivery and making the deliveroo a priority !!!!! They might think they are making a good living out of this, but the people actually there are money too! And paying extra for the privelidge of eating in. It cost more to eat i than take out! And the last time we were there, they lost our custom,so that was four,we saw another three leave,a other group of four,a couple, and that's customers ,and the as thing was no one from Whittaker's asked the people why they were going,or attempt to sort the problem out. We were sitting by the door and as it opened other customers were calling out don't bother again no staff were Interested. This cafe is packed in , more and more tables, with no room to get up or down from your table without backing Into other people, and nearly sitting on their laps. Not going back ,now they are doing deliveroo, actual customers who want to eat,are getting a very poor service. They have lost our custom for good,"
