"Having had some fantastic meals at this pub when the restaurant was run by the previous chef we had high hopes of the new electro pilot restaurant launched at the Foresters by Matt Gillan. We looked at the menu online which showed a good range of choice so we booked a table to eat on a Saturday night. I ordered the fish and chips described online as battered haddock fillets with triple cooked chunky chips pea fritter and homemade tartar sauce. My husband ordered the cheese burger again with triple cooked chips. What we actually got bearded no resemblance to this! My fish was a very small battered fillet served with French fries not home made and no pea fritter. My husbands burger had a strange looking mayonnaise type sauce in the bun and no cheese and was so sloppy the bun fell apart. Again was served with French fries. We were not at all impressed and our guests did not get their side order of veg. We had to send the burger back which meant my husband got his meal when we had almost finished ours. This restaurant had some great reviews with the previous chef and everything was home made and definitely value for money. It is a real shame as this is a lovely local pub and we often came to eat on a Friday or Saturday evening. Unfortunately we will not be eating again but will still frequent the pub to drink. This review has no reflection on the pub and its staff. Such a shame as it was such a good place to eat locally before."

The Foresters Arms is now a must-visit spot with the new chef who has completely changed the menu to offer delicious traditional pub food. I was never a fan of the old menu, but now I highly recommend stopping by to try their new dishes.

This pub catered extremely well with 28 of us for lunch. Very friendly landlord, very welcoming and not phased by the numbers of us for lunch. No pre-ordering or deposits required! Food good and served quite quickly considering the number of us. View menu

Our first visit to this pub and we were certainly not disappointed!! The food was amazing as was the atmosphere! We will certainly return! Great value for this set menu with a quality menu and ingredients. I initially choose this restaurant as we are vegetarian and the menu looked fab and not the same old!

I recently visited this restaurant and enjoyed a delicious lunch, particularly the amazing burgers. Despite the quiet atmosphere at the pub, I was pleasantly surprised by the friendly service and the incredibly tasty burgers made from their own recipe. I would not hesitate to recommend this place - thank you!

I visited this restaurant last night after hearing about the new chef and menu. Three people in our group ordered burgers, one ordered a steak, and I ordered a steak pie that sounded delicious on the menu. Unfortunately, the food was terrible. While I was waiting for my meal, the others were served and I was unexpectedly told that my steak pie was not available and that I would be receiving fish instead. This change had not been discussed with me beforehand. In order to not disrupt the meal with my family, I quickly accepted the fish. However, it was greasy and the overall quality of the meal was poor. This experience has left me disappointed and I will not be returning to this restaurant. I... View menu

We heard great things about this place and liked the menu from the website. However once we saw the decor and absorbed the ambience of the restaurant area only one other table was occupied), we lost confidence in the menu, so we tried to play it safe by ordering fish and chips and a burger. I am sorry to say we didn’t enjoy our meal. It was not well presented see photos) and didn’t taste or smell nice the smell of the fish was overwhelming). Our red wine was cold. It felt very amateurish and the ambience was in conflict with the price of the 6 specials and additional sides £4) on the menu. It just didn’t feel right and having left home at 7pm for a relaxing evening to end the week, we were h...

This place is a bit of an oxymoron. The pub is traditional in every sense, it doesn't do new fangled drinks, anything above a J2O is out and since I'm not drinking at the moment and didn't want a juice I was left with water. Husband was happy with his IPA and 8 year old lemonade. They don't do fancy! However the restaurant bleak in it's decoration and heated with an electric heater is a marvel. I'd wanted to try it as it's run by Matt Gillan of The Pass and Pine Pike fame and I was lucky enough to have my 40th at The Pass, so fond memories. He's started a casual dining brand called Electro Pirate and here it is at the Foresters. So you can have burgers or fish and chips but you can also have...

"My mother and I had been following the Masterchef Pro comp ' last year and were really keen to sample some of the winner, Tom Hamblet 's, food. We travelled a 4 hour round trip for the experience. We don 't eat at fine dining restaurants often but we are foodies. Firstly, the setting of the restaurant is very lavish and comfortable with warm low lighting. That said, the dinner experience was a little too dark for my mother so that 's something to think about if you struggle with eyesight and low lighting. The service was friendly, attentive and speedy/efficient. The food: I 'll start with the dessert because that was a real pleasure for us. We both loved the flavours of Tom 's end of series winning dessert so the meal ended on a high (we ordered the Olive Oil sponge with lemon curd). I recommend not ruining your palette with the overly sweet petit four that are placed in front of you following dessert unfortunately ours were more sugar flavoured than any other identifiable flavour. Our starters and mains were very VERY underwhelming. They arrived looking beautiful, neat and tidy but failed to deliver on taste. I had wanted the celeriac themed starter but the waiting staff told me the vegan/veggie starters and mains were created by their head chef and not Tom. That was disappointing as his 3 month residency was the reason we 'd visited the restaurant. We ended up both having the lobster starters after the waiting staff recommended it highly as either a starter or an additional dish to share. The claw meat was minimal and tough and the foam mousse took centre stage on the plate. Whilst the plate had lots of textures to it, we felt it was unbalanced and generally with no 'wow ' to it. We enjoyed the coffee and rye bread with butter and pollen/fennel that came prior to this thought. I ordered the Guinea Fowl as a main after the waiter described it as a gamey, dark and tender meat. I feel like a better description to someone that hasn 't had guinea fowl before would be 'it 's like a chicken breast with a different flavour '. This is what arrived in front of me and I actually found it was quite dry and not dark at all! I would never have ordered anything that resembled chicken breast anyway so I felt ill informed about my choice. I also thought the girolles were overwhelmingly tart. I didn 't enjoy my main. Mum 's Hogget was nice but average for her too. Last comment I 've never in my life paid £6.50 for less than 1.5ltrs mineral water beware! I don 't care how much money you have it 's water!!!"
