"We have visited Gaucho previously in London Leeds which were amazing, but unfortunately this was not our experience on those occasion. We both ordered the scallops to start, but they were smothered in a very spicy sauce which took away the flavour of the scallops. For main, we ordered the chateaubrind. On first impressions, it looked amazing, but as we ate our meal we realised that the inner part of the steak was rare, not medium as we had asked. The meat itself was tasty, but it was undercooked. On a positive, the service was very attentive and the waiter was very knowledgeable about the wine and recommended a lovely alternative red, as the one we wanted wasn’t available. My overall impression is this though. Firstly it was my husbands birthday and although this was acknowledged by the restaurant with a happy birthday pudding (which we paid for) and 2 glasses of sparkly, we expected the £115 steak we ordered to be cooked how we had asked it to be. I did feedback on the night and was told that due to the steak being such a thick cut, it wasn’t always easy to get it cooked in the middle, but if you are a restaurant that specialises in steak, I find this a rather odd response. Also, scallops don’t need to be smothered in a heavily spiced hot sauce. We were told we could have it on the side, but in all honesty, I don’t think that sauce works at all. Finally, my previous experience of Gaucho has been a fine dining experience, but this just wasn’t due to very lax dress code, children and generally a very noisy environment. When you are paying £265 for a meal for 2 and it’s a special occasion, I expect everything to be faultless and this just wasn’t. Would we return? No, we wouldn’t."

Possibly the worst steak I have ever had, and felt rushed during the whole experience, there is a reason Gaucho is half empty and other steakhouses fully booked! View menu

Birthday meal for partner on a Saturday night. We had not tried Gaucho previously but decided to give it a try. Great steak and other food. Both had chips but could have had just 1 bowl between us. The waiting staff were very attentive and couldn’t do more for us. Overall a great experience and will be back.

Had a great meal, I’m vegetarian so a steakhouse is not the obvious choice, but the menu offers good options. My other loved his steak I’ll take his word for it. The bread and Chimichurri was divine and lots of different cocktails to try. Best of all it’s dog friendly so our pooch was able to join us on my birthday meal

When I visit Edinburgh I like to visit here for a treat, It was very good as usual however wasn't outstanding as my other visits have been. We were asked to wait in the bar upstairs until our table was ready, however there was nobody serving at the bar so we just sat waiting. Service felt slower and not as attentive as before. There were a couple of big groups which took a lot of the attention of the staff. Food was nice but didn't feel anything special. View menu

Have been to Gaucho 4 times. First time had the best steak ever. Next 2 times steak underdone. This time had a delightful Mushroom Tagliatelle. My enjoyment of this was spoiled by having to listen to the incessant “thump thump thump” of EDM. This is ok in its place. The restaurant is a large space, there is a lot of noise anyway from people talking so any nuanced treble is absent and the bass only can be heard. Apparently there is a DJ. He thinks it’s a concert. I think it’s a restaurant and doesn’t need EDM. The restaurant is a bit overpriced for what you get but if your love of EDM is compensation this is the place.

If you walk by this restaurant and see the upstairs empty please don’t be scared away. The beautiful restaurant is located one flight down, and I believe I saw an elevator if one needed. The friendliness of all the staff is unparalleled! The appetizers, like the empanadas and chorizo plate are wonderful. The steak selection is above par and they even have some spiral cuts of fillets that are amazing. Tried to mushroom tagliatelle on this most recent visit and it was so delicious. Restaurant is beautiful and sparkling clean. Reservations recommended. Prices are reasonable for a higher end steak restaurant. Not to be missed.
