"my hubby and children went there first to get a table around 19:30 clock and so happy we booked in advance for 7:45 clock as the place was so busy. so busy on a Tuesday night! we didn't order anything raw when we got little kids. and the food bill came to £66.20 and drinks (including only a few sakes) at £40... first the big Japanese waitress was not so friendly, and when we order, we show her the menu and say we want this to please, she replied, I can't read it. okay, I tried to announce my best. Yes, the place. then I said I like to place black cadjau, she said no, no black cadjau. So I said I came from leicester, for the black cod with a big smile on my face. said it easy and she waitress no answer, at all she was not friend, and very cold. Not sure whether it was busy or maybe she challenged eating wisely, my fav was the cold soba and second was the fried udon. We had fish jet that was strange, no taste and chewing gum and the tofu absolutely no taste, can be less ass and early as possible grilled spies set a. taste so. a very soft and juicy and raw. I would say medium. some chicken super hard and dried. the ochsenzunge x2, it was okay. but my hubby didn't say it worth it. over all grilled spits was something to burn. small wood charcoal okay, but too much they can only cost the bitter coal. butter mushroom I wish they don't squeeze any lemon as they ruin it for me. it was good until they taste the sour lemon int he butter mushroom. coks in large pint glass and apple juice in half pint. the man who worked at the bank was very friendly and smiling, I think he is also Japanese. they have no normal bill, it was a buck of hand written, and I had no idea what they are overall. it was ok experience, better than the stick and sushi we had in cambridge with similar price. we can't go back soon."

it's like they picked up a real restaurant in japan and dropped it in hampsted. the grilled dinge are especially amazing. the staff is also very friendly and helpful. it is quite expensive, but the quality of the food is incomparable.

a small, rather cramped but atmospheric yakitori style restaurant, which serves an amazing wide range of Japanese directed, all a high standard if they are of sashimi and sushi, the prices are reasonable, especially given the location.

If you've seen that series on Netflix this place interior is a ringer although the hours are more conventional ! Proper traditional food beautifully prepared and presented. Master has skewers on the grill and the whole experience is pleasingly authentic .

I’ve only been coming here 20 year. It is as raw as it authentic and it is without doubt the best Yakitori restaurant outside of Japan. The quality Jim Kinchi serves is exceptional from the skewers to the seaweed salad, udon and sashimi and sushi....I couldn’t recommend this place more if I tried.

We've been coming here almost weekly for the past two years. It's really extremely high quality, both the fish and the grilled dishes. The only downside is that it has spoiled us on other Japanese places in London, as they never measure up. I almost...never give reviews, but an exception is in order here. Its a top place don't hesitate to try for yourself.

This is a tiny restaurant run by Japanese. It is incredibly hard to get a table as it is so popular. It is feels like you are transported to Japan as soon as you slide back the door. The food is excellent with fantastic fresh...sushi, tempura, a variety of fish and meat dishes such as black cod with miso and salmon teriyaki. Very good yakitori. Good selection of sakes, beer and wine. Staff very efficient and nice.

I've been in this restaurant for about 20 years and it was always fantastic. the quality was always the highest level. Unfortunately, the current yakitori chef falls far below the expected standard. every spit was burned to carbon. Um...fair the owner removes all spies from the bill as far as the customer service goes, still great. but the current yakitori“Koch” has to go. absolutely useless and will only hurt what was always such an amazing authentic restaurant.

A small family-run restaurant serving Japanese food. As you walk through the doors you are greeted with a welcome and a bow. Traditional Japanese hospitality and an ambience and decor that would not be out of place in Tokyo! The food and service live up...to expectations. The sushi here is some of the best I have had in the whole of London. The flavours were delicate and yet sublime. The service is exemplary. There is a lot on the menu and we will be making another visit as soon as possible to try other items! Would advise making a reservation this place is booked out most evenings.

We had been planning to visit after hearing good reviews decided to go when the EO to HO offer was on. Restaurant was packed no social distancing here.... We strongly recommend anyone not familiar with Japanese cuisine to look online (as we did)...before you go as the menu is large and bewildering. We ordered a selection of sushi and simmered, also skewers and black cod which was tasty. Plus we had a beer, a glass of plum wine and a refreshing lemon cocktail. All in all the bill with discount came to £70 (for 2) not a cheap night out for what is basically café style surroundings. For £90 which was the full price of the meal we could have had a complete gourmet experience somewhere else in mo...
