"I didn't get off to the best start here. Arrived at 2120 to order a take away and rather than recieveing a "hello" I got "kitchen closes in 10 minutes".....Me: "okay....can I order then?" Rude staff: "if you want" Me: "well yes I do want, thats why I'm here" Rude staff: "fine" I was then handed a menu. As i tried to choose the guy tapped his pen against his pad to hurry me. I made my order and paid, the guy took my money without a word. I said "my pleasure," he replied with a grunt.After handling the menu, his pad and pen, my money and the till, to my horror WITHOUT WASHING HIS HANDS he began preparing the food.I could go on...... but essentially:- The rice was over cooked and stodgy- The fish in the rolls was too small- Tuna wasn't that fresh- Tempura batter was awful- Was given no Soy sauce- Wasabi wasn't real- Staff were rude- Over pricedI WON'T be going back"

Great food - but no credit card! Make sure to bring cash for this dining experience, or make a withdrawal at the cash machine near by while they prepare the food.

Very good food, some of the best sushi/makis I've had! Very fresh, and quick to serve. Small and cozy restaurant, with only 5-6 tables, modern. I really recommend this place if you are a sushi lover. View menu

So good sushi, so fresh, so much taste!! Very little place but cosy, quiet.. lovely. Not good for going with small kids, just not space for it. Book a table if possible. It's Definitely worth it to try! Good price.

Sushi was ok but nothing special. Few dishes were quite dry. What annoyed me was the "service" part. The couple behind the counter were almost rude and it seemed that customers were more a nuisance to them. Wouldn't recommend Katana Sushi for anyone because the lack of service.

The choice of sushi is a bit poor to my taste, but the sushi is fresh and the taste is very good. The prices are on the higher side and correspond well to the Japanese concept of sushi, namely the portion should be modest. We visited as a family during the week. We arrived early in the evening and all the tables were booked (it is a small restaurant). We were offered a table on the basis it was reserved in an hour.We were quickly served and the food was very good. I understand the comments about the "coolness" of the service but it was fast and efficient.Atmosphere felt authentic and all the family enjoyed it. Remember they only accept CASH - no credit cards etc.

Found the place via tripadvisor and booked a table online, was super easy.Coming from Denmark and not knowing Hamburg, my friend and I had a little trouble getting there (simple tourist logistics fail) but we called and said we would be late, and it was no trouble. Our table was still ready for us when we arrived nearly 30 minutes late. The sushi was super delicious, definitely some of the best I've had, fresh and not too pricey, and there was a large menu to choose from. We even got to trade out some items from a menu, no trouble.
