"Disappointing visit. We have been a few times before and it was always good. They have revised the layout and it is much improved, but... the food and service was seriously lacking. We were presented with our bill before our food arrived and when the starters turned up we were asked who ordered the duck, there was no duck on the menu! Main course was a disaster. A fillet steak that had a blood pressure raising quantity of salt on it. It was inedible. To be fair I was offered a replacement but as ever in such a situation the dining partner is left to finish their meal while a replacement is prepared, at least 15 mins in this case. Thus the evening is compromised. The second attempt only had a marginal salt reduction and was borderline acceptable. The manager deducted the cost of my main but to be honest the evening was ruined by then. It was meant to be a special evening for us as it was a wedding anniversary. They knew that as they had asked and been told twice. Such a shame as it is/ was a really nice place. Not sure if we would return as previously it was so good."

they had not checked online bookings for the day, so no table had set for us. I wait when they couldn't find our reservation even though I'm showing them on my phone. we were directed to the bar to buy drinks.
