"What a fab hotel. My friend and I had booked afternoon tea today. We were met at the door and we were escorted to the dining room. We chose to sit in the bay window providing lovely views over loch long. When the afternoon tea came there was enough to feed a family. The sandwiches had mixed fillings and were delicious. The scone was presented with clotted cream and home made jam , mouthwatering. And then the cakes, well what can i say , there was great variety and each one looked lovelier than the last. Needless to say we could not eat everything because there was so much. The manager gave us a wee tour of the public rooms which were beautiful . She was so friendly, as was the waitress. Who informed us that a whale had been spotted in the loch. At the end of our tea the items we could not eat were wrapped up for us to take home. The whole experience was excellent. I would encourage anyone to experience it for themselves. One word of advise , it's advisable to book at least 24 hrs in advance."

During our five-night stay at the hotel, we dined at the restaurant nearly every evening and each time the food, wine, and service were excellent.

I ate here with my partner while we were staying in the House Hotel. Our meal was lovely, the menu was very seasonal and food was cooked deliciously. Even if you aren't staying here, I would recommend trying out the restaurant.

Once he had hung up just left reception and walked off not an even “can I help you” so we left and now looking for another place to stay should of read the recent reviews before entering!! I had a delightful experience at this hotel, particularly during breakfast. The meal featured piping hot local ingredients cooked to perfection, making it the perfect way to start the day. The dining room's decor was impeccable and in keeping with the hotel's history, with a cozy log fire adding to the ambiance. My bedroom was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. After a long day of travel and having lost my luggage at the airport, the hotel graciously allowed me a late check-out so I could relax and recuperate before continuing my journey. I am eagerly anticipating my next visit to this wonderful establishment. Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.

We stayed as hotel guests and booked a table in the restaurant on our second night for the early evening menu which better suited our taste, plus we wanted a more relaxed meal dinner itself seems to be a more formal affair. Luckily we were able to reserve the table in the bay window making our evening all the more special as we watched the sun set behind the hills as we dined.Varied menu. Excellent value for money £20 for 3 courses). Service excellent. Food tasty. Starter portions bit on the small size. All delicious. Hubby very nearly ordered a second helping of sticky toffee pudding it was that good!!Extensive wine menu. Draft beer a reasonable £4.50 a pint. Drinks in front of the fire in...

"On our last day here, killing time before the ferry, decided to try luncheon here. No expectations either way. And we were TOTALLY wowed it was just excellent. Trying not to put too many superlatives in this review, but it was really, really ace. We had a lovely table by the window overlooking the harbour where you could see dog walkers, children in wellies, crabbing, and little boats coming and going. Classic Islay. Then I have to mention the food. Jeez, it was top notch, and huuuuuuuge portions. I don’t think we’ve ever had four such consistently generous and fulfilling portions before. We had the scallops (massive, juicy, plentiful , the Crofter’s Platter, which was cheeses, hams, sausage rolls, salad, bread, chutneys; the soup massive bowl, loadsa crispy sourdough bread, and the fish and chips which was so big it draped over the plate! All delicious. Our guy, Andrew, was superb, so attentive and smiley and always bringing us more things, spoons, drinks, more bread, spoons, he was great. And we had a lovely chat with the very friendly and nice proprietor. She was wonderful. Really seemed to care about the place and her team. She told us all about the hotel and stuff it was really cool. We will most certainly come back here next time. You can’t necessarily get the best table every time, but we won’t mind if we don’t! : Oh, also, lovely clean loos!"
