"A group of us stopped in here for a couple of sociable pints on what was a memorable day 's drinking. Ideally located on the doorstep of Lossiemouth 's East Beach, we sampled both the internal and external seating to take in some of the views. I definitely felt comfortable throughout my stay. The draught pints were part of a fine selection of world 'Beers ', the atmosphere was quiet but very inviting (peaceful), the staff were friendly and the cost of the rounds, although slightly expensive, were justifiable as we truly felt that we were in one of the town 's more upper market establishments. Although brief, this was a welcomed one hour stop during our day out. Fun had by all!"

There are much better places in Lossiemouth for a meal. Don’t know if it was due to Covid but did not enjoy it.

The food was nice and with a varied choice. Some surprisingly good wines on the list. Service was a little slow.

We were tempted back this time to try their seafood platter. At £75 there was plenty of delicious food for two. We liked it here having already ate at their Salt Cellar two days earlier.

Used to be very good food and service as the 1629. Went a lot for dinner. Not sure what happened, same staff, same owner still wanders in and out of the place, different name to the restaurant , food sucks now,. Less choice, doesn't have the freshness about it. Won't be going back in a hurry. View menu

Location was very good, staff were okay, food was not very good. Pork was over cooked, smoked haddock lasagne contained very little smoked haddock and the Langoustines were over priced. I agree with a previous reviewer that there was only a token effort made regarding Covid safety. We will not be back.

A lovely place to have a meal.Stunning decor In what gives the Impression of being a Cave. The Staff were very attentive and the food was first class. So much so,we returned a couple of nights later, for another Evening Meal.Would highly recommend the Haddock and take your choice of the fantastic Desserts on offer.

She had the lemon drizzle cake and coffee. Both very good, nice large slice of cake. I had gone all wobbly so went for the big breakfast, and I have to admit that it was outstanding in quality, perfectly cooked, well laid out. The sausages and black pudding were especially good. Well done folks, really enjoyable. View menu

Had meal on Saturday evening, sat at outside table waited half an hour for our order to be taken two members of staff seemed more interested in chatting with two regulars at next table, main course (roast of the day-pork was ok but a bit tough but served with nice veg and tatties, sweet was much better delicious bannoffie tart with crispy base served with cream and ice cream my partner had lovely sticky toffee pudding which was well enjoyed. Pity about slow service don’t think I would rush back.

Food and location ok, but only token effort made with regard to Covid. So we won’t be going back in a hurry. You can sit in or out we chose to sit out. You select your food choice off the board by the door. So at peak times people crowd around this, often unmasked and with little regard to social distancing. Orders must be placed and paid for at the bar. That involves going into the restaurant, round the one way system but at peak times past occupied tables. So social distancing is again difficult. Table service, but staff are not masked.

"Genuinely couldn't fault the experience. When I heard that the Drouthy had a new menu focusing more on a veggie and vegan base, I knew I had to give it a whirl. The starter of hot Smoked salmon with lemon creme fraiche and oatcakes was simple yet packed full of flavour. I could have easily have had 10 plates of that and been happy to give it 5 stars. My partner had the smoked duck and even though I have given up meat, I was salivating at the look of their dish. They assure me that it was as delicious as it looked. Served with lavender roasted potatoes (which I'm told were amazing and charred salsify. The mains were more than a match for the brilliant starters. If I could give one piece of advice, it would be get the beetroot risotto. Not being a massive fan of beetroot, I wasn't too sure about it. But the incredibly warm waiter (for my son's, I never got his name. I only hope he can forgive me if he reads this! assured me it was tasty. He was not wrong. Beautifully cooked vegan risotto with balsamic beetroot chunks, shiitake mushrooms and rocket, it was simply divine. WHEN I go back, I'll be hard pressed to go for anything else because it was so delicious. It was creamy, packed full of flavour and cooked absolutely perfectly. Just the right amount of bite, nowhere near being mush like you get in a lot of other places (who charge a lot more, by the way . Superb. The highest of compliments to the chef. I was so taken by my dish I forgot to ask how my partner's was until I had eaten all of mine. But their home made vegan tagliatelle had disappeared from the plate so it must have been amazing. I couldn't handle dessert so had a delicious ruby port (delaforce I think it was called , and I would also like to give credit to whoever came up with their wine list. It covered every single base and no-one could ever be disappointed. Finally, if you're ever in Elgin, please make sure this is one of your destinations. You will leave extremely happy."
